Probably could have worded myself better, but I was actually replying to TotalEclipse's post.
Never thought Kaos would have been exclusive to pre-orders, it wouldn't simply make sense.

We now have confirmation that the Mystery Chests don't contain exclusive parts -- they're just a way to unlock things faster (aka. "lazy tax").

We get the confirmation that no parts are exclusive to the Mystery Chests which is a good thing and you say "f you"? You expected to be able to buy 1 chest and farm parts? Ok...

the "f you" was about the fact they can only be used once ( IE, not because I expected to exploit them to farm parts but because they literally can only be used once and then they're just a chest on your shelf with no purpose ), combined with the fact you're buying them BLIND. As a collector I'd like one of each chest, but what if it takes 10 purchases to get a single silver chest? I was also honestly hoping they'd work like the Hidden Treasure/Platinum Treasure and simply add an extra chest in a random spot in each level |

To be fair, the collection aspect solves itself. Only really impatient kids will drop their savings on this or ask their parents to get one once in a while - this will be the first thing going on sale.
Though one use is stupid. They really forgot that the point of physical DLC is so the fun lasts as long as the toy. As I said on GD though, those will be shelf warmers harder than Grave Clobber, since you can just get those parts ingame in the time it takes to drive to the store if it's not on your neighborhood.

Once someone gets their Dark Edition, it would be nice if they could test it. Redeem it on your main save (so that you are guaranteed to get them where you want them), then go over to a different account on your console (or make a temporary guest account) and try adding it there.
I originally wanted to try getting 1 of each, but if they're really this restricted, I'm boycotting them harder than Crystals. (Might still get a single one for testing purposes. Such as checking if it can be registered through the bag.)

Phoenix Crystal is the best unreleased Crystal. Skylanders Academy Season 2 was an improvement. I don't know what to think of Skylanders' future. |

How many Chests can you get per level, anyway? I'm pretty sure you could get 9 parts just by completing a level two or three times, and you don't need to pay money to repeat a level.

You can get more than 9 parts just by playing a level, easily.

Really? I thought there were only four or five chests per level, although I haven't been paying much attention to Chest locations.
But if you can get more than nine per level, then Mystery Chests are even more pointless. Don't they cost only a little less than Traps?

Chests seem to appear after you do basically anything, getting 9 parts in about 15-30 minutes seems amazingly easy.

Even if you want to spend money to sped up, though, you can also just buy chests ingame. No need to go to a store and iirc they even have more stuff as Platinum Chests aren't in blind bags as far as we know.

It's going to be glorious seeing the amount of pissed off parents returning the crystals because their kids had no idea it was a permanent choice. Looking forward to the stammering, yammering response from Activision/TFB talking about how they didn't want "a sea of options."

That would fly with the Ninja and Swashbuckler restrictions, but there's a big difference between "rethink how you add parts" and "pay for mistakes".

Okay, if I can play devil's advocate here: Chances are, if a kid wanted to make their Imaginator an Undead Smasher... Then that's what they wanted to make. I think people forget that you can still customize you're Imaginator's appearance to whatever combination of parts and gear you like in the game. But regarding the whole thing about growing bored of that character's play style... There's more than one combination of moves to give them. Even with the locked battle classes, experimentation is still an option, even if it's not as much as you'd like. Just give your Imaginators different moves until you find a combo that clicks with you. Don't think Vine Bloom works with Gunslinging It for your Life Quickshot? Then try Wool Over Your Eyes with Death Blossom, etc. |

That's indeed true, but I can't believe something like this will never happen: "Oh, my Undead Smasher is soo cool, but after seeing the elemental powers I think a Sorcerer will fit better. Let me reset the Crystal and... Wait... WHAT?! DAAAAAAAD!" I personally want to be able to reset Classes because I won't know how certain elemental powers work in combination with a specific Class until I'll try it. And it will be too late at that point. Videos are helpful but I need to try them with mi hands.

And, again, there is more than one Elemental Power. Tombstone Timber might work for a Smasher and Last Laugh might work for a Brawler. |

I'm finding non resettable crystals more of an issue now because of the creator app.
The apps great coz at least now we'll be able to test out some character designs before finalising a class choice in a crystal. We still can't test class/element gameplay, but at least having an idea of character designs beforehand is something e.g. like testing out ninja and swashbuckler character designs . (or specific stuff like ...what if I designed a character that I planned to give a flower weapon , and find out after making that crystal a "smasher" that a flower weapon isn't actually an option for Smashers) But a problem now is that If you design a Life knight in game( on a crystal) , then decide you love it and so transfer it to the app to order a figure......you'll end up having 2 toys that are Life Knights. The CC and the ordered 3D printed figure/ character card.

Exactly. I don't know the various powers very well, I'd like them to be surprises for when I'll get the various Crystals, but the ones I've seen could definitely work better for one Class instead of another. And there is no way I'm going to buy a second Crystal from any Element just to try another Class out.

My point is though that there are four powers, each one possibly working better for a class. And that's without taking into consideration the class-based attacks for Imaginators, therefor allowing for even more experimentation. You can still mix and match abilities, the only drawback being unable to change classes, which I'll admit sucks, but in my opinion it doesn't "ruin the gimmick". |

Doesn't solve much if you dislike the primary/tertiaries/soul gem no matter what, though. A test drive mode would be so useful, like playing a preset Imaginator and to edit you need to confirm the class.
