It's a little bit of a tease though seeing as you will want to unlock a decent amount of parts ingame before designing a character you want to spend $50.
you wouldnt want to spend that much on a character you wanted to change the design of later(even thoguh you can change the design of it ingame , youd want the actual figure to represent your creation accurately)
On the other hand, if you like the way a character looks without the stat-boosting armor, you could strip the armor off or switch it for something that looks better in the app, have the figure/card printed, and then add the armor that gives the best performance back in the game. So that way your printed character looks the way you think looks best, but the one in game still has the best stats.
