If that figure in the image you posted is accurate, he looks WAAAAAY better than Steel Plated Smash Hit.

Doubtful. The rendering of Steel Plated Smash Hit looked better than the final figure as well.

Yeah, he has the normal black base in the box shot, so I wouldn't trust the toy render.

Looks pretty good in-game, though.

Phoenix Crystal is the best unreleased Crystal.
Skylanders Academy Season 2 was an improvement.
I don't know what to think of Skylanders' future.

I have to admit his in-game form looks quite cool though, and his artwork is quite subtle with the green as well and making it look like a proper Dark Skylander with the pearlized green effect.

But the toy...?
Completely wrong.
Of course I'm not judging anyone if he likes it, but know what you are going to buy.
