I think it may also have to do with the fact that there aren't as many people who care about Skylanders in the same vein as say Pokemon. There's still a lot of people out there who still despise Skylanders simply because of Spyro's flat-face. And Crash's inclusion probably will interest more people, but it also generated just as much backlash as that first screenshot of Spyro. Maybe Activision doesn't care as much because they know there aren't as many people who care about it? Which still isn't justification, if anything that makes it worse.

BTW on Facebook I commented something about Chain Reaction... Let's see if it gets taken down or if they ignore it... If anyone asks what I'm talking about I'm just gonna say "You'll see by the time the game comes out. You should remember this if you think I'm crazy"

This is a perfect example of Acti's Marketing incompetence...

Lego Dimensions just announced more figures that they immediately put up for preorder and built a lot of hype around! What does Activision do? Announce a stupid contest for some movie no one wants to see and release an image of a stupid little pirate...

I will actually usually hold off until at least Wave 3 or 4 before finishing a game, just to make sure I get to play with most of the figures.

I think the first one I beat ahead of time was Trap Team because I loved it so damn much... and I was saddened because I never really got to play Enigma as a result. (Especially thanks to SuperChargers making anything that wasn't a SuperCharger useless in the game...)

Speaking of SuperChargers, I still haven't finished it... down to the last 2 levels, and 14 out of our 18 figures are maxed out.

There is no reason that Activision can't reveal wave release dates at least a month ahead of time. Heck, if they're too lazy, why not just get Paul Reiche or whoever runs V.V now to do the announcements for them. All they need to do is put a giant image or trailer on their site showing off the wave's characters and at the end put a release date in big shiny letters at the end. Maybe even just print them on the box like Lego Dimensions, then their work is done for the entire year! There are so many ways they could advertise the new waves; why are they so obsessed with the whole mentality of "OoOoOoOo... it's a seeeeecret!"

I'm getting tired of the creations on their pages all the time. It just feels like they're reminding people to buy Creation Crystals. Yes, we know we can create characters, now where's Chain Reaction? So yeah, I'm a little impatient. I can't help it because today would have been perfect.

Have you read their comment sections on ANY social media? People get away with straight up harassment there, insulting the games, insulting the people making the games, insulting the PR - sure, it disappears eventually, once a day when the guy gets off his butt to post something. It's exactly what I said, they do the minimal possible to not be "silent" when they clearly want to be as apathetic as possible.

You're implying they want their devs to do anything other than pump out more game and quicker. It's surprising how much Paul got away with saying this Gamescon, because just look at the other PR trying to talk during previous years and events; everything is "not at this time", even stuff that actually goes nowhere like "is Glumshanks on Trap Team".

Now that I read this, it would actually be pretty cool if they released free updates to the game with every new wave. They wouldn't be new levels like adventure packs, but they could be a series of small quests around the M.A.P or something that would be beneficial to training up all the new Skylanders you probably just bought from the new wave. For example, when wave 3 releases in december, they could have Flynn/Cali/Buzz/Whoever inform you when you first open the game after the update about a village or something that's under attack, and then you gotta travel there and perform a series of quests from "kill x amount of monsters in the town square" to "Save x amount of villagers from the monster hideout," and then at the end there could be a boss that gives a ton of gold and XP which would be great for new Skylanders. Something like this actually seems possible with the several free updates Superchargers got around wave 3 so Gearbits had more of a purpose.

Now I hate to bring it up, but look at Lightseekers. They have released artwork for characters, but haven't revealed names. Why can't Skylanders do that? I personally don't like Lightseekers, but they are doing a much better job with reveals in my opinion.

I'm fine with more waiting, but after next week if we don't get anything then yeah, I'm definitely getting mad. I can see where all of these impatient people are coming from.

They kind of already do the artwork tease, but to a lesser extent. They teased Air Strike, Barbella, Aurora, and Mysticat at Gamescom, then gave gameplay of some of them the following month. I think what they did there was a good move to keep up the hype. If they had a release date on when we got said gameplay, it would build even more hype, of course.

I kinda fear there won't be a webiste update. There wasn't a full fledged one last year either, but we did find all the artworks. I think this year we just have to take what we get. Thanks Acti, now I'll rush my game to get all the Soul Gems!

To be fair, I like the direction Activision has taken with Imaginators.
It's still far from Trap Team (which wasn't perfect by any mean) but it might indicate they finally learned something from last year.

Imaginators itself offers more possibilities to advertise, with not only the Senseis to choose from but also the more or less daily images of themed characters, but I think they took the right way especially lately.
Not to mention sometimes it's hard to distinguish real leaks from fake ones.

But yes, I'd like less secrecy and more direct answers or interactions with the devs.
Knowing the look of the new roster on advance wouldn't make the experience feel less magical in my opinion.

Dang, Mystical Tae Kwon Crow looks awesome. Still just gonna get the normal, but this might be the first variant that really looks good.
