We used to be so much more thankful for news during the time of Giants and Swap Force. >.< Now we get news, three days later we're ravenous for more. I'm just saying.

No we weren't :I Half of those news were S2 and that hype faded even faster.

I'm just gonna say though that Swap Force Fan does have a point. I wanna see new stuff too, but I'm not clawing the walls in desperation for it.

Well, I guess there were more characters and content to show then, with all of the Series 2's and 3's and new approach to the game, so it kept us amused. I mean, creating your new characters is a new approach, but we've seen new approaches in the past, unlike in Swap Force.

The real issue is that we definately have a TON more kids now that they discovered the forums. That also means more impatient people who act like brats in the game page as if Activision owes them happiness, though it rarely leaks here.

Yeah, but aren't the chances this movie ISN'T going to your hometown pretty low if you don't live in rural areas? Seems like a pointless contest to put any effort towards.

But why am I complaining, I wouldn't be able to participate even if the prize was an office visit to TFB and your character becoming a permanent Skylander :'D Those are not tears, it's salt.

The movie has none of that because of course not... THAT WOULD MAKE IT INTERESTING AND DIFFERENT! WE CAN'T SUBJECT THEM TO DARK AND HEAVY THEMES, THAT WOULD BE TOO SCARY!!!

pretty much everything has a dark theme or a dark previous story that was changed for kids

But seriously, this news drought is horrible. I hate it. Have any of the past games had news droughts like this?

Well one thing that is bad is that we still don't know how all the figures let alone characters look and it's only a few weeks away from release. Every other game we would know the characters, figures, backstories and gameplay by now. Heck we don't even have full confirmation on Blaster-Tron and Grave Clobber's classes yet. So no we never had a drought this bad. Not in the sense we got nothing, but the fact we still don't have a full idea of how every character looks or how they play.

The thing I don't understand is that why don't they want us to know how all the figures or characters look? Even Swap Force gave us those teasers showing off the Earth swappers and Trap Team gave us an accidental leak on dark and light characters. This game we only have those old concepts to go by for Chain Reaction and Buckshot while still not being sure on the classes for the last two villains. I'm not complaining that this is taking forever I'm just confused at this delay that will only make planning for this game more annoying.

What I'm trying to say is that by now I would have my entire roster completed, but I still don't know who will be my tech and magic sensei yet. My guess is on Ro-Bow and Buckshot at least I hope I end up getting them.

To be fair, it took a long time before we knew the contents of SuperChargers beyond Wave 1-3. Late-wave content won't be shown much, because it's such a long time until we can actually get it.

Activision really needs to take after Pokemon in their advertising, meaning they should tell people that they'll be showing some news a week or a few days ahead of time with some teasers, then releasing a trailer with segments focusing on each new character. Why they don't reveal new characters regularly is beyond me.

Yeah pokemon knows how to keep fans hyped , with skylanders we wait for a month without any information and sometimes people lose their interest and go watch something else ...

I really don't know any other company that's so bad at advertising. Sure the overview and launch trailes are great, but when the news of a new Skylander hits, it hardly reaches the masses at first. I'm not necessarily angry at the news droughts, I'm angry at the fact that Activision turns down nearly every great opportunity to show off new features, and we are instead given spontaneous leaks revealing the characters for us. We've only actually had 19 characters that have been shown or teased in detail by Activision out of the 31 Imaginators characters. They should at least try one or two character reveals per-week in the last month before launch instead of putting them all off for a random website update.

TL ; DR: You know you're doing something wrong as a company when your fans rely almost entirely on leaks for new info.

Acti just learned by experience that if they don't say anything and treat their fans like a solid wall that shoots out money, they'll be just as sucessful - they license nearly all the shovelware out there, they do all the generic sports games EA doesn't have its grubby hands on, they sit on thousands and thousands of IPs and dev teams bought from crumbling companies. Even EA or Ubisoft attempt to treat their fans like people at the very least, even if poorly. Acti knows that whatever it creates sells, so they'll talk when they want to, and never listen. TFB and VV are just having that experience firsthand of having to listen to them and not people who actually like the series.

The marketing is definitely the weakest thing about Skylanders, and consequently is why I spent much more time and energy last year focusing on Lego Dimensions instead. The starter pack came with a friggin' poster that said when each pack would be released, and the devs hype them on Twitter all the time and answer questions directly.

Activision is lazy. There's just no other way to say it! They're lazy with their marketing, they're lazy with figure distribution and they're lazy with reveals. I guess their logic is that nobody cares about the characters released later. They already beat the game! That's a HORRIBLE mentality to have, especially when it comes to running a toy franchise as big as Skylanders.

Hasbro, at the very least, releases all of the figures in its waves and doesn't BS its way out of releasing their own flipping products!
