Is kaos coming out on wave one in a single pack? Because I don't want to preorder the game just to get kaos. Thanks in advance.

It'll probably be like Gearshift where the extras that people didn't preorder are put out on to shelves for people to just buy. Again, they are VERY limited quantities so if you want Kaos, I suggest getting him ASAP

Thank you. Sadly I can't preorder because the place I buy my skylanders isn't offering the deal I'll still ask if they have a kaos figure and try to buy one.

They said Gearshift was limited early on as well. But, if you do not pre-order you ARE taking a risk. The same as people that did not order Thrillipede online at TRU waiting for him to appear in store. It was inconceivable that a figure would not appear in stores, but here we are. They may up and just send out numbers that match pre-orders, I know Best Buy is actually only shipping the Kaos figure even if you do an in store pickup of the game. (And Kaos is also $49.99 if you try to order him without the Starter, Best Buy puts high prices on items that are intended to only be bonuses that get zeroed out when combined)

If having Kaos is a big deal, or you think might be a big deal for you - pick a pre-order location and do it. Most places will let you price match a discount in the first couple weeks if you are afraid of that.

Sorry I'm a bit behind on all this. If Kaos is the enemy we're trying to defeat - or at least the main one at the start of the story - then how are we able to play as him as a character?

One of his first ideas after discovering Mind Magic was to create a clone of himself. He figured that not even the Skylanders would be able to handle the combined might of two Kaos. His clone, however, wanting victory for himself, joined forces with the Skylanders against his creator, becoming a Sensei for the Imaginators.
