I have a feeling we might actually get a battle class reset as some sort of upgrade or reward in the game, akin to the upgrade path switch from SSC. Not that likely, but still a possibility.

We all wish for this, and I wouldn't be too surprised if TFB sneaks that in, but as of now we only know clearing figure data with the third party tools as an option.

The fact that they'd consider variant crystals with battle class lock speaks for itself. Better purge that from existence altogether.

I don't know if this counts as advertising or not, but what are these third party tools for deserts and are they actually good?

Against DS rules. As in, we can acknowledge they exist, but because it's illegal file modifying, not allowed to link or hint in any way how to find them.

The exception is Pyrofer's figure tool which is in Toys and Merch that someone already bumped; in which he made sure to be inside the rules as you're not hacking figures. That's just a backup tool that happens to be able to wipe traps clean.

I don't think it's best to discuss that here.

What, modifying figure data with 3rd party devices is flat-out illegal? How is that any different than using a Game Genie or Action Replay?

How is that illegal so to say? My Gamestop sells an Amiibo action replay for $19.99 that can modify the amiibo's data and even make your smash bros amiibo maxed past the limit. If it was illegal it could not be sold at a retail store.

Edit: here is the link to the amiibo version at gamestop.

I don't actually know; as far as I remember Action Replay is a cheating tool and yeah shouldn't be so easily sold, that's what I was told. Guess Nintendo's just ok with that or something.
Keep in mind I'm not talking about supporting or not supporting that; I just thought that it was anything but ok to use.

Action replays are in fact legal, they may not be ethical but they are legal. There have been times when they have been sued but they almost always win or appeal. The skylanders tools seem to not be 100% legal because they require you to brake the encryption of the data with a code that is owned by activision.

But aren't games also encrypted?

They are, but action replays don't change anything aboit the game, just automatically find thingz that are already in the code.
