So I think Barbella is pretty cool, though I admit that she is very human like and pretty simple. I still like her, though.

So far, I actually like everyone. It was hard to rank some of them.

I don't personally like Barbella. Her game play might be great but her design is so.....bland. We've had human-like characters before but she just takes it up to a point where I find her to be my least favorite character design wise. But her game play might more than make up for it.

Generic is the opposite of unique or creative, as in, "run of the mill"
NOT the opposite of interesting.

Most generic designs are generic BECAUSE a lot of people like that sort of thing, making it popular, in turn making it profitable, in turn making it everywhere.
Although her design doesn't stand out, it still stands out from the crowd (female musclehead, plus is very humanoid), which is why it's not generic. It's boring sure, but it needs to fail stand out FROM THE CROWD to be generic and not just fail to stand out IN GENERAL.

So... Since we know it's pretty much just going to be the comics at Comic Con this year (which kinda makes sense, honestly), what do you think they'll talk about? Or what do you think the comics will be about? Think they'll serve as a prequel to Imaginators like they did with Superchargers?

Also a new blog post in this Mureview site(can't post link) has more pics of SS16, including Hood Sickle's butt. Ok not really, he isn't turned around all the way, but it's a nice view of his purple skin.

I wonder when they'll reveal the Elites, if there are any in the first place.

That would be pretty awesome, though I'd imagine it'd get confusing for them to work on characters with the traditional Skylanders design and the original voice actors and on their own Skylanders designs with the show's voice actors at the same time.

Not everyone. Some people are more impartial to her. Though I feel Ember's case was worse than Barbella's because she didn't have a figure to go off of, we only saw half of her on the BOX for that.

... Sorry but I wasn't the one jumping to conclusions, I literally said one phrase.

I know you didn't, but you know someone's going to read your phrase as "they're totally in SDCC guys let's panic and demand for gameplay", which is happening on the game page already. That was aimed at no one in particular.

Also.... HUH. I quoted in the morning that Eric said the video at SS16 isn't Academy, but I went look at the video myself that Yroc posts and at the start you do see the logo that Eric teased, though blurry, very clearly the same purple. Also a few seconds you see the same background that my avatar is from... Oh dear.

Maybe there were multiple videos at the event and Eric was talking about another one.

Looking at those photos it's clear that Golden Queen's base is golden as well.
I understand the touch but don't like it.

It's a very small detail, and motivated, I simply wish there was more coherence between certain features.

Not if this is what we think it is. But this belongs in Academy dicussion.

The thing that still bothers me the most is that the base tops are black. Even if they were just as plain, it'd look so much better if they were a similar color to the edges; jet black just doesn't fit anyone but Hood Sickle as a whole and breaks the palette.

Yeah I agree, the base tops aren't that creative. I would have liked the sides to stay as they are, but add some cool elemental ground cover like the old figures. The plain black kinda reminds me of the SC "portal". *cringe*

Yeah, that bothers me as well.
A good compromise would have been placing the classic features, such as Undead's skull, Fire's flames and Earth's crystals on top of the new bases.

EDIT: ninja'd a bit.

Figures are looking more and more like collectors' items, being big, detailed and with more generic pedestals.
Though I do notice a lack of painted details compared to Trap Team's.

That smasher's weapon looks like a meat tenderizer.

Yes! The lack of paint detail is maddening! Most of SC characters (except a small few) were quite horribly painted, or not painted. Though I'm liking what I see so far in Imaginators. Golden Queen seems a little plain though. It's hard to tell unless you have the figures in hand.

So true, but at least they made a smart choice with her by using two different types of gold to make the figure look less bland.

All the figures I've seen so far are waaaaay better than the majority of SuperCharger's figures and that's probably because TfB uses a different style; but there are some small unpainted details which make me cringe a bit, such as Wolfgang's arrow's tip or King Pen lacking any kind of shading to make his white less boring.

I know, that's nitpicking at its best since King Pen's chest plumage is plain white, but it's the kind of special touch I'm expecting from TfB (think about Echo's figure having a metallic effect even if her in-game model doesn't).

Golden Queen is justified, she's also very flat in the game; all the shading is from the engine reflecting stuff off of her. Not too sure about Wolfgang just having light fur on his face instead of his chest though.

The amount of topics getting closed and moved is kinda ridiculous...

But on topic, Golden Queen's figure is good, but the only thing bothering me is her staff being bent.

Just because they're on Academy doesn't mean they're all in Imaginators. Cameos are a thing.

Some of them should be characters from Academy... Not sure about Wind-Up and Freeze Blade, though.

It would be weird to have a Gimmicklander return in any form.

Yeah, bent parts annoy me as well but they are apparently easy to fix (didn't knew it myself until a couple days ago).

Wind-Up is definately in the thing we found, but we won't know if he's a main character or not until we get the full pilot.

Wind-up could be great in the show to be honest. So much potential for his personality

We saw Wind-Up from a mirror of the TV showing Skylanders Academy at SS16.

Here's a question I don't think we've asked yet: The options we've seen in the creations hub for body parts and gear... We know you'll have to unlock different parts, but, do you think what we've seen will be our starting options? Or will the starting pieces be randomized or something?

I think they'll just be determined by the elemental Imaginite pieces, plus probably those human heads and obviously the starry set. Weapons definately just start with one and the Gear with nothing if you don't have the right element.
