They were from the point where Swap Force were 3 pieces instead of 2; though I think at the Bubble Trouble phase that was scrapped already.

Oh, now I understand why the prototype figures' parts where mixed. Well, if the interchangeable weapon thing is real, they could be somewhat good characters to use, since I see that their weapons in the arms where a noticeable feature of their designs.

There were a LOT more pieces. I dunno if it's a good idea to put it in a Dropbox or something though, it'd be illegal redistribution. I just downloaded it as soon as the first slide opened because firefox hates anything over 50 slides.

Aaaand I'm unable to connect to the database, according to the website. Maybe it's just my computer. I think that I need to find another way to get those images.

Don't get ahead of yourself,it just means bad servers/optimization. GDC has already come and gone, they have nothing to do with the games now.

Are you sure? I'm screenshotting every slide just to be safe lol. I downloaded it to my computer so I can get it that way but still, I find it kind of funny how it just so happens that the database crashed the day it got noticed on the forum... Methinks Acti has eyes everywhere.

Well they went out of their way to block out certain slides, there's no reason to remove it now. It's also VV's stuff, so no 6kylanders info to be found.

Maybe not 6kylanders, but possibly game 7? And like it was suggested earlier, maybe the black slides were videos?

Also, something that I find odd, why is the filename GDC 2005?

I have so much want for that lava ram/Charizard sphinx thing in slide 31. I'm guessing that whatever the bottom part was from eventually became Scratch though, if only because of the sphinx relation.

It's really neat looking at the ideas they were testing out - not only the horizontal body style that Swap Force had in the end, but also four-legged ones like the dragon scorpion thing and the giraffe bird thing, plus hunched-over ones like the eye flower turtle and the dragonfly frog. They probably wouldn't have worked as well (imaging putting a human-shape torso/arms on a horizontal dragon or something) but it's a shame it doesn't seem they made it past the earliest ideas.

I looked at the slide show, and I never tough that the process of creating a Skylander takes this time and effort. Really good to see this process.

This made me think how some characters are in their first phases of development. Like, Rip Tide was a entirely different thing before, so this would be interesting to see.

I really hope they use some of these concepts in Sky7

That water dragon looks AMAZING! Why do they always scrap the cool looking ones?

Leeching Mist is interesting. The character seems pretty well designed and completely unfamiliar. Looks kinda like a water skylander.

All three meeles? Also the penguin guy. Hope it will be like the classes from Diablo 3 (warrior, rogue/monk, mage, hunter), what would be make sense at different villain species.

I really wished they used those prototypes. Hopefully they will be used again in the future. My bets is still on a battle mode focused game.

Support and Evolving Gimmicks. D2 & D3 had different characters. D2 doesn't get any new content, D3 still does. You build a game with solid replay, and then you build on that replay. skylander series seems born of physical DLC more than replay, its about the figures.

The big difference between Diablo and skylanders - and why I'm not asking for a diablolanders is complexity. I would LOVE UP AND DOWN if they did bleed the two together, but what made Diablo was constantly getting stronger via specialized gear. The characters here have a performance 'cap' with no variations on attacks. Trap team took a shot at this, being able to quickly switch to a 'second' character allowed for 'setups', though some were nerfed pre-release (looking at the ice troll for instance), but it failed as the characters were less about blending with your cahracter, and more about being characters unto themselves (short of the mages). I can't say "add gear" - not the weak sauce they ahve now, but gameplay affecting gear - it just seems like too much for the younger "still targeted" audience.

Chill Bill wasn't nerfed enough - someone in the TT board found out the other day he still has a charge move that does more damage than anything that's not Kaos.

Also Battlecast has stat-changing gear, just have a tutorial like they do and it'd be fine. They have the benefit of being cards/digital only though, since you can't really put on the Ampli-flier on Spyro or make someone hold the Cog of War IRL without some toy limitations.

I haven't seen any game with some many slots for gear as Diablo III, not to mention you have to manage your inventory constantly. This complexity is not in skylanders, that's true, and I agree that the reason behind (or one of the reasons) is that the target audience is still young for this. Probably this complexity will never happen, but considering how they have recently said that they are aware they audience has grown older, we may see slight improvments in this sense. I too wish the series grow older, and brought us a more adult approach, not only for comlexity but for other thigns as well like good online replay value, strategy wise fights and more serious storyline and dialogues.

It was changed back to "unanounced sixth game", so I think it was just some kid who got bored who made that edit.
Besides, "Legendary Troops" doesn't really sound like an official Skylanders title. More like something you'd find on the Fanon Wiki.
