rant about pokemon cuz yolo

My main gripe with the anime is the lack of actual lasting character development. I mean you can argue Ash changed immensely in character but that wasn't character devlopment, it was a rework when 4kids took over and fired everyone. The anime used to be about Ash, wanting to become a Pokemon Master, doing anything it took, being stupidly stubborn and just an asshole, but always caring for his pokemon on the way. Now it seems to just be "Oh, Hi I'm ash, i'm still ten despite my age being 11 in a canon special, I wanna be a pokemon master despite my lack of attempting to catch every pokemon i see, im not stubborn or an ass anymore and my charm is gone, but i love making friends now so let's be friends, do you wanna be friends? ill help you out let's be friends, lmao brb losing to a new snivy from my assumed level 80 pikachu" It just bothered me, I tried getting back into the anime and the episode was literally this kid who i dont even know and i shouldnt care about getting bullied for half the episode and then ash is like "wanna be friends? ill help you out" Iunno, it's kinda like the simpsons, it seems they're really milking it instead of making change which could constitute more fans and a lot of interest from newer fans.

About the Pokemon anime, I don't like it either because I'm sick of the formula used in almost every new episode(or at least from Diamond and Pearl to Black and White). To me it feels like I'm watching the same episode again and again:

1. Ash and friends are walking to [X]
   
2. They encounter somebody/Pokemon in need of assistance
   
3. Team Rocket schemes to get Ash's Pikachu/helped Trainer/Pokemon
   
4. Ash and friends do stuff with the Trainer/Pokemon they helped
   
5. Team Rocket attempt to take the Pokemon
   
6. "We're blasting off again!"
   
7. Ash+friends say goodbye to who they helped and continue to [X]
   

Bear in mind that I haven't watched the anime in a long time so I'm unaware of any changes made to it.
The only thing I've seen to be slightly different is that Team Rocket are somewhat smart and make decent moves in Black and White unlike their earlier counterparts.

They're smart for a whole 30 episodes in BW. After the cancelled Plasma episode(not the one that actually came out), they went back to normal.

Figures. Not that I'm surprised, as I expected them to go back to their old ways at some point. Though I only saw like 5 episodes of B&W so I haven't been following it since.

I remember a lot of character development happened in kanto and orange islands/johto (I didnt watch hoenn) but after that, it's like they turned into gary and mary sues and became dumb and boring and nothing like their characters
