It kinda looks like the fire base under the flocking is blue.

If it's fake, it's one heck of a good job. I wouldn't mine flocking several of my Skylanders if they would turn out that good.

Which I'd never seen before and I thought it was a fake until I looked it up.

Also a clear Tuff Luck, a blue flame clear Hot Fog, and a plantia (sp)/rust High Volt. Guy was either a serious collector, a developer, or mega lucky to get them. He's also selling off a bit of SC figs at really reasonable prices. Makes the Flocked Fryno seem really real.

I still wonder how anyone is able to flock a figure. (That sentence sounds sorta nasty if you say it quickly enough.) It looks so legit to me but it is priced so low where it is obviously a fake. I'm tempted to bid just to see if I could figure out how it was done. I want a flocked lightcore winter Hex so badly! Lol

You probably glue cloth with that texture over them or something, doesn't seem to hard. Does sound like heck to clean dust off of, though.

You spray glue on parts you want to flock. You take the flocking and power on it through a container like a salt shaker but it is a little bigger. The flocking sticks to the glue, you let it dry over night then us a soft brush to wipe off or shake off the extra flocking then you are done. Good luck

For what it's worth, the seller obviously has some Skylanders knowledge.

Seems odd that anyone who knows anything about Skylanders would list a never-before-seen variant at $5.99 and not make a bigger deal out of it.

Their Blue Flame Fire Bone Hot Dog makes me wonder if Fryno might be real.

I think I've seen that! If I'm correct, it's a special Hot Dog from a Frito Lay offer, like the Sidekicks were.
Edit: Wait nope, the Frito Lay exclusives only came in red, green, and purple fire bones.

But that promotion was some time ago and only released three colours (green, red, purple) so it is unlikely a blue would exist without someone knowing about it by now...

Exactly. It was in very late 2013 I think? So that's about two years ago, and this is magically the first we've heard of his? I'm definitely going to go with fake on this.

Fake!! Do not buy! Blue base is swap force. We would have seen these variants before if they were real. Yeah, the fact that are all unboxed is also suspicious.
Edit: I take back this comment. I'm more inclined to believe now that these are factory firsts and/or prototypes.

I was referring to the flocked part of the base. Normally it's red, but a faint blue hue seems to show through the flocking.

If the Blue Hot Dog was still in the box, I'd buy it. My other 3 clear Hot Dogs are still in their boxes, so the blue one just wouldn't fit in. Even if it's a custom, it's still awesome and I'd pay $30 for a custom that nice.

His story seems as fishy as a Punk Shock to me. Why is it that people who get rare stuff cannot write a coherent properly punctuated sentence? Yet he's way smart enough to know which ones were the best Skylanders to list and has priced them accordingly.

Either way his collection is too suspicious for me to bid on anything other than that too cheap Flocked Fryno. I'd pay $10 or so for a good bootleg, but not the collector's prices he's asking on the other stuff when it's that suspicious.

Anyway, I sure feel stupid! I didn't recognize a legit(?) flocked gold Prism Break but I totally thought that the blue flame Hot Dog (aka Hot Fog, why did I type that? LOL) was a real release. It's just too many variants to keep up with.

And about flocked, I didn't know that they were just glue and some type of dusting powder. I thought that that stuff was cloth glued onto the figure. I never took an interest in arts and crafts and a lot of how things are made is a total mystery to me. That Flocked Winter Lightcore Hex seems a lot easier to do now that I know what to do!

Employee Edition Lightcore Prism Break's flocking looks like longer fibers that stick out. I wonder if they used static electricity to make that happen?

yeah most def the blue flame crystal hot dog is fake/custom, and the white flocked fryno is fake, stay away from fakes and report 'em is what we do; here the seller isnt even saying custom in the title or description, and the seller is relatively new to ebay with little feedback. buyer beware. you have to be extremely careful on ebay.

These are fake guys(being the artist i am )....Matt spoke some time ago about the figure he was taking the paint off of(if memory serves.. it was the LC Hex) the paint can be removed if you do it right an carefully(i.e. ...the -Blued- Fire Bone Hot Dog). Also the flocking is somewhat staticy anyways 4inCreation so the fibers do stand up...best to shake the can before you take the top cap off(creates more static). Yes Fairyland flocking is easy to do....just have to take your time...but not so much time that the glue drys before you start flocking it...lol. And Wishblade is right...these are old, we all would have known about them a long time ago.

I never collected the Skymiibo's but I swore that there were only 2 versions of Bowser, right? He's selling a lot of 3 and that black one looks really dodgy with no info on the base at all. Sorta like a prototype, more like a bootleg perhaps? Very suspicious! Perhaps someone should invite him to this tread to discuss the stuff he's selling or something, as I hate accusing people without them saying their side of things in defense.

Someone also did a tutorial around the internet on how to make transluscent LightCore, it's just a lot of careful dipping in pain thinner so none of it gets to the chip. Flashwing especially, she looks really pretty without her paint since the light just reflects off of everything.

Maybe they came from somewhere like alibaba, taobao or something.

That E3 Hot Streak is especially strange, just like the rest of them. The glossy ones look really cool too, they're really interesting.
Also, the unusual Bowser with the black colors looks a lot like the Spitfire prototype thing that one person found a while ago.

Between Smash Hit and Astroblast this is starting to look like the topic of "how the figures should have actually been".

Smash Hit still looks better with silver on his helmet, and Astroblast at least needs white for the soft parts of his suit.

I would accept a white helmet if they at least fixed his boulder.
The silver is just a punch in the eye.

Regarding Astroblast, it's true that he would need white for his main body and grey for the gloves and boots but since whoever was in charge for the figure's look this year got lazy I would have sincerely preferred a completely grey suit instead of the white blandness they stick with.

So, I threw the $10 down on the Smash Hit. Figured, why not. Haven't bought any Skylanders stuff in a week or so. :D

He arrived today.

Does not work in game. Does not even appear to have a chip in him whatsoever - nothing responds to it. The games, Maxlander, N2, Skylanders Editor, even the basic NFC reading app on my cell.

If he's a custom, he's *real* good. The white paint on the helmet is really in those nooks and crannies under his hand/chain. With the little amount of difference in the "final" outcome, along with the effort it would have taken, the low price paid (thus, the small amount of money made) and the fact that it doesn't work at all (without showing any signs of the base having been tampered with), I'm really inclined to say prototype.

I have a feeling the listings ended because they don't have working chips.

Possible. I contacted the seller and advised him that he make sure all listings include "as-is". Hate for someone to try a chargeback claim because it "doesn't work" and then keep the rare figures.

The blue Hot Dog sold for $51! I'm hoping someone on this forum got him.

I almost had it. I threw $50 down, but was outbid at the last minute.

Amazing how the seller knew so much about Skylanders and yet failed to check them out before selling. I'm thinking that he had better than average knowledge about Skylanders, he found a batch off of a Chinese website cheaply and decided it was a good flipping investment. In reality he probably lucked into a collectors dream of prototypes instead...or an amazing batch of bootlegs. Either way I wish he would appear here to discuss matters.

Anyway I saw that a few listings with bids are still up. If I'm not mistaken ebay doesn't allow sellers to cancel and close more than a certain percent of listings in a year with bids on so he probably couldn't touch those. Seems Bob was the first person to get and leave feedback on Skylanders. It'll be interesting to see how the other ended with buyers ones will go, if others got doa ones and if they will leave bad feedback. He may lose his account if he gets more than 8 dings to his seller rating over this (or whatever the rules are for the smaller sellers). Ebay is really harsh these days against sellers like that.

Actually this is prolly your best time to contact him about ones you had your eyes on and see if you can work something out with the guy. I'm certain he has a few more interesting ones that didn't get listed yet and it is unlikely he will able to sell on ebay again. Just saying for anyone who was really wanting something. I just wish he didn't list that Nightfall as buy it now as that was the only one I really REALLY wanted. Lol
