Here´s what I think, go outdoors, play in the mud, smell the fresh flowers, climb the trees. take pictures of nature, get your vitamins from the sun, and strengthen your immune system. your immune system will need all the practice it will get when you get old. And besides, Don´t you live longer when you farm with your family?

I don't even have a house big enough to have an orchard, let alone a farm. Or trees to begin with.

Absolutely love it. I don't camp or hike much, but I love to simply wander around in the wilderness.
I also like fishing. I used to hunt, but it's kind of boring to me now. |

Here in LAs Vegas it's pretty much all dust and rocks. Really, there aren't any trees other than those in parks.

Unfortunately my family never saw the true value of farming. To this day I still run the map meta-events on Auric Basin alone, without the support of my relatives.
I'm convinced that we would've made a fine guild. ... On a serious note; I live in a very rural area, surrounded by pine forest. I love the fresh air and the quiet. |

While I've become more of an indoors kind of guy, I do enjoy the occasional walk through the woods. Some of my fondest childhood memories are wandering through the woods, wading barefoot through a trickling stream on a warm summer afternoon. It's just so peaceful.
I could do without becoming an all-you-can-eat buffet for mosquitoes, though.

I actually like being outside, at least when it's warm out. I like riding bikes and doing childish things like tag and hide and seek. The thing is, i'm not a very independent person so I can't make myself go out and do that or go out and ask people to do that. So while yes, I would love to go outside and ride my bike for hours, I won't do it unless i'm pushed to. I would love to play hide and seek, but I need friends to ask me to play. It's quiet pathetic, really. So I just stay inside, refreshing various internet pages waiting for something new to show up.

I wrote a poem for literature class about my feelings toward the outdoors once. I still have it saved on my computer...
I went outside the other day For the sake of this assignment But the sunlight seared my flesh and eyes As insects swarmed around Like hungry demons spawned from perdition— They bit and buzzed and stung. Meanwhile black clouds formed o’erhead And stormy winds came on Too strong! I could not stand up straight, And raindrops drenched my skin. I lay there for some time, within a ditch, Until the torrent ceased. Then came nature’s stench, the foul odor Of rot and decomposition, The smell of dead things as they festered. I knew that soon I’d die as well… And so I fled. I ran away. To a place of blessed confinement, Free from sunlight or stormy skies. A cheap motel I’d found. The room was compact and air-conditioned, On racks the towels hung. Once dry, I laid down in bed And watched TV ‘til dawn. Never again would I tempt fate. Four walls I’d stay within. From this day forth I would never switch My place with that of beasts. I crept to my car, turned on the motor, And made a hasty transition To my house, where I am sequestered, Away from that forsaken Hell… Man what a lame poem. What was up with that weird rhyming scheme? But the sentiment is still accurate.

I love the outdoors, the trees, flowers, open fields, omg I love getting away from the city for awhile. Walking through the woods, walking barefoot in the fields, watching the wildlife can be breathtaking. When walking through the parks I tend to let myself go back to my childhood and just start playing in the playground. I love the swings, the sliding board and the see-saw. Eh, yea I'm an adult but that doesn't mean I have to give up playing. I love playing volleyball, basketball and kickball too. So yea I love the outdoors and yes I am waiting patiently for Spring. ^.^
I just woke up so I hope that all makes sense... |

"The Great Outdoors"?
What is this fantasy world you speak of? *in the most condescending voice ever to grace your ears* We all know that outside the safety of our homes is the dying world of a moronic, hardly civilised people, who have no respect for their environment or the people that surround them.

It's beautiful when it's not too hot as the sun is sets but it loses points with midges everywhere. The day time is boring and full of bees while nighttime is dark and cold.

Honestly my only real problem with the outdoors is crappy weather and bugs, neither of which seem to exist in depictions of the outdoors in fiction except when the plot specifically calls for it. If only we lived in a cartoon world with perfect weather and no bugs...

Do you know what this is? Have you ever seen one? They're native to Europe, northern China and Siberia, but apparently you can also come across them in North America nowadays. (I have no idea where you live) If not (and for those of you who haven't), let me explain. That is a deer fly. The main purpose of it's entire damn life is to fly towards something big, hoping it's a deer or a moose, burrow into it's fur and drink blood/lay larvae. They don't fly well and even drop their wings after they have found a nice host animal. Now that's just nature being nature, but sometimes they mistake humans for deer. First they fly straight at you, and then then go in your hair. They can't survive on humans, but they still drop their wings and try to bite because they're dumb ass flies. The only thing you feel is a crawling on your scalp, maybe followed by a painful sting. They're *****es to remove, trying to swat them away doesn't work because they're tough and hard to kill (relatively so, seeing how they are small insects). The only good things about them are that they're not yet active early in the summer, and that they go inactive when the first cold nights come. If you've never had one of these little ****s trying to make your hair it's home, pray that you don't have to. |
