Here's a problem with petitions, and particularly petitions dealing with Skylanders.

First off, the fan base for this franchise isn't so huge, that it will amass enough signatures for the powers that be to even give a spit. They can literally say "we didn't release them, sucks to be you, but you'll keep supporting us anyway," and that's what will happen.

It's certainly a noble gesture, for someone to at least try. However, I can bet 50 games in my game collection that no matter how many calls we make, or petitions we send, they simply don't care to release them, nor will they.

At this point I really don't care if this franchise survives or dies. This series is getting to be like John Hammond. Goes from mistake to mistake.

I just don't see how they could even care, cause if they did, they would have found a way for us to get these, if they truly meant for us to complete our collections.

Again, not trying to discredit people for trying, but I just don't see it getting anywhere, seeing how low the fan base is, or how some may not even care to take the time to sign the petition.

The bigger problem with petitions versus actual feedback is that they have been very comfortable with using the youtubers as that, just like their kid testing. Things Skyfamily and FamilyGamerTV say are taken a lot more seriously than a fan on twitter and whatnot - worse, they'll treat those small guys as children , the Wikia Superchargers Q&A comes to mind where the guy steamrolled through all our important questions to parrot Guha Bala and answer 3 obvious ones from the same person(guy still had the nerve to force his video on the front page like it was the best despite Aura's warnings). You have to get the big ones to make a huge difference, unless you're doing like UncleBob is saying and calling support because then you're taking their time so they're forced to listen - which we have yet to see if it'll work.

Also, there were posts deleted for going offtopic already this week on the doom and gloom, let's not.

My post is very much on topic. This thread mentions petitions, I'm talking about petitions. On point.

I have to agree that I think Q&A's are always staged. Not just for Skylanders, everywhere. When sites do voting contests for things, I believe those to be rigged as well. Case in point, Smash Bros. Bayonetta is cool and all, but everyone and their mom wanted K. Rool or Geno. Sakurai added yet another Fire Emblem character, but not the one everyone asked for.

I also have to agree that people like Skydad and FGTV (help us out Wes) are taken seriously. If I were taken seriously by Acitivison, I'd be hounding them for everyone. Give fans the yawn traps, somehow, someway. Heck, they probably would have to tell me before each interview, "don't ask about unreleased product." Maybe it was best I didn't get involved like I once was, because I'm a very blunt person in life, and I'd make sure everyone's voice was heard through my voice.

So, people from videos who talk to the folks at TFB and VV could very well ask, and here's hoping someday they help us out by giving our concerns a voice, where we have none.

And I will always project doom and gloom on this brand. They deserve it now. However, reading the general discussion thread in the SC forum here, I see quite a lot of people complaining, just like me, but about other things. That's their right, just like it's my right. Who am I to throw stones at a glass house? I do it, others do it. As long as we're on topic, our voices shouldn't be silenced, and if they are, well that's a subject for the time it happens.

If you look for things being staged they'll always be, that's called confirmation bias - heck why is Corrin even involved,it was the dev team's, he was never chosen for any polls, while people ran independent smash ballot polls and Bayonetta was always there. Q&As and contests don't need to be staged because who'd go all the way after that - it's easier to say 'as long as it's not X thing that we'd never do'. They have stipulations and limits,but if you're so worried FamilyGamerTV and friends are faking it, wideawakewesley and myskylanders *several* times talked about how the teams allow them to ask things though they'll obviously dodge the question if they don't want to answer it.

Also all this talk about being 'silenced' is a bit hyperbolic considering how chill Matteomax and TTD are and the huge disgusting mess it was when they let people do as they wished with pushing the lines on what's on topic these last two years. Nobody's trying to put a damper on opinions, it's just that people can't control their own behavior and will go all the way to win an argument.

All in all, petitions aren't going to work, bickering on an online forum they don't seem to care about won't work, support can't do much but pass the message along. Communication has been an issue since day one and it's never been just a problem with Skylanders,it's been a problem for most stuff from Acti.

I'm not saying FGTV or Skydad are faking anything. I'm saying in cases where people can talk to Activision, due to coverin Skylanders on social media, they can keep asking TFB or Activision questions about the yawn traps, or relate information incase they don't know their are people that really want to complete their collections.

Bias and staging fake Q&A's/polls, etc, is what I was referring to. Back in FFXI days a lot of people would ask some really legit questions they were told to submit for possible answering in future Q&A's, but the questions were always the ones everyone would always know the answers to, while the questions that would put SE on the spot, would always for some reason never be picked despite being the popular choice for answering.

To me, I think when they ask people to vote on things, they already have the winner. By the way, where are the winners for the name a Skylander contest? Funny someone supposedly came up with the name High Five, but somehow that name was already associated with the dragonfly. No interviews with the person, no tooting the horn saying they came up with the name. Someone just came up with it and doesn't care to talk about it?

They're kids and pretty sure well under 12, you can't actually interview them without full authorization from their parents last time I checked. Also for a Frito Lays contest, not something from the Activision site, the former are the ones that would choose to put an excerpt from the kids in an article or not.

Also with Bat Spin and Flip Wreck being kept despite their horrid backstories(and Bat Spin being miles away from a good pun like Frightengale), it's very obvious it's from very young children. High Five's was also changed though they added the small lore from the winner that he's a prince on top.

Also,pretty sure I recall one of them asking about the traps and another about PVP, and they just got shut down with 'we're not talking about this at this time'. They are allowed to ask, it's just that they won't get answered just like us. It's different matters with favorite characters and NPCs,of course, unless they involve spoilers(or unless the interviewed just doesn't feel like it, like glumshanks on Trap Team who had no important role yet he was a secret?).

Substantial real changes seem to come primarily from their kid testers,and of course,you need to live near the offices for that, and also means that only the main QA testers will give actual adult feedback when it comes down to it.

Not sure if it helps, but here is the response I got today from Activision after a final effort to make headway.

I understand your situation. I also spoke to my supervisor about your issue. But due to our company’s policy, I’m not allowed to sell or provide them as a courtesy. We really appreciate your loyalty to Skyalnders, unfortunately we cannot honor the request."

So I hate say, but a few got lucky and well, then there is the rest of us.

You didn't really put any argument towards the skylanders being already decided. They just had peopleworking write(or their children) like crap(remember, half dolphin half shipwreck) for what purpose again? They're not losing anything by just letting it go normally, just judging with little effort, because the result would be the same. Though I think this will go nowhere without a closer example:

Drawlanders competition. Scroll a bit there are more contests. This wasn't rigged because Activision isn't getting anything for this anyway,it's just GAME giving away starter packs. Quality is all over the place and usually not very good places to begin with,and the winner seems to be chosen at random. Not too different from Frito Lays, because kids will do that even when it's not official.

ON TOPIC...

So, I called again today - because I sincerely want to see a US release for these. I got told immediately that they are a technical support line and that distribution I handled by the developers. Funny that the rep I spoke with threw ToysForBob under the bus on this one. I tried getting information as to who I could contact that did handle feedback/support for distribution and either got disconnected or hung up on. Not sure which.

I *still* recommend calling 844HELPEON for this issue... But pawning the decision off on TFB seems... harsh.

I used to have so much respect for Activision/TFB/VV for going above and beyond video game tropes. Now, with this yawn trap debacle, poor releasing of product, and not knowing what they want to do with their game, and other mistakes, I just think this is all bad comedy.

I remember wanting to start up a YouTube channel just for Skylanders. Gonna delete those videos and change my profile pic and just try and be an overall game channel. Just can't give due respect to a company that doesn't respect its customers, and they aren't respecting or listening at all.

Oh, well. Gonna grab popcorn and watch the festivities from here on out. The founder of TTL will be the first to go, only I doubt the competition will try and mimic that strategy.

Drama and broken records aside, we don't know that they're setting on more Yawn Traps. For all we know, they've sent out their stocks already (I received a message from someone who only got 2 of the 3, so I wondered already if they were out of the *Life* Yawn).

As much as I love Skylanders, I wouldn't really be too sad if it ended soon. They're not handling it well at all.

It's sad when Amiibo is handling distribution better than Skylanders. Until they make a dedicated Amiibo game ala Skylanders, they just don't do the cool things Skylanders, Infinity and Dimensions figures do.

But, Skylanders in my opinion, are falling behind those two, which is quite sad, cause Infinity has shortcomings as well, only forgiven by the fact that brand does a better job at distribution and hyping people up by still holding press conferences, while Activision buried their head in the sand and hold off showing off each new game until just a few months before release... apparently.

Doom and gloom aside...

After being told by 844HELPEON that the Yawn Trap issue was on the developer's shoulder's, I did some internet stalking and just got off the phone with someone awesome at Toys For Bob. (Not going to share their info, don't ask. Also, it was a business phone number, not a personal/home number - I'd never do that).

This individual did confirm that it is Activision, not TFB, that is in full control of distribution.
This individual expressed what I felt to be sincere disappointment about the lack of release.
This individual stated that TFB was aware of the internet petition (I did not bring it up - they did) and encouraged me to sign it. I guess I will now, in spite of my dislike of internet petitions.
This individual also wants to see Yawn traps released.

It was a great conversation, even though the individual was obviously off-put by an internet crazy stalking them (sorry!). It does renew my hope that some kind of release (aside from the 'call the number and get lucky' release we had) for these toys.

It also means that the fandom can stop chewing on TFB like it's their fault for everything with the stock of TT stuff(VV on things happening now,too), but we know that ain't happening when people in the subreddit still say that Swap Force was just "better worked on" than Giants and not an ENTIRE overhaul of engines and whatnot.

Keep calling. Don't let up. Be polite & kind. Don't harass them for free toys - but inquire about the status of the Yawn Traps in the US (or worldwide) and express your disappointment (kindly) about the lack of release.

So the HELPEON line isn't giving out free toys... that was never the point of calling them! Call them and make sure they hear your voice - A Yawn Trap release so you can add these to your collection!

Activision came thru for me ! Krazy Props to them for these !

I was told they would help me out..called right after this topic was started...called and was told they could help me out and was given a rma # and everything...then about 4 days later I got a we are sorry emails...so I called and they said they only had a few sets for replacement for non working yawns...and where sorry to tell me there where no more to send out...because they had already sent out all they had!...needless to say I went straight to evil-bay...and got the last yawn I needed (light Scream Beam) paid $200 shipped (actually some what if a deal compare to other auctions) only to have it show up in a little white box..like crstofers little boxs...guess there already selling on ebay...

I got 2 of the three which is awesome but I never got the life trap they said it was left out and all I was shipped only the fire and light trap. I am happy about this. When I called about the life trap they said that I might not ever get it because they forgot to send it. Which sucks if they don't. I have my fingers crossed but who knows at this point. Glad to have 2 but all 3 would have put me a step closer to having all figures. I only need Dark Bowser, Thrillipede and Buzz Wing plus the I Got THis 1 Life Yawn and I will have all figures from Spryo's Adv through Superchargers. I cant wait to have them all. you should be lucky then since i tried calling the other day and not really luck on that. and well there kind of is going to be on this when you're rubbing your nose on the people that don't have it. it's people commenting like you that shouldn't have got them and PAID for them since you're more than easily a person that would have.

For all your whining why not purchase them ? I did on E-bay and spent close to 600 Aus for the 3 ! I made a simple phone call and got them ! Just as everyone has. Sorry about your luck ! Keep calling maybe you'll get lucky next time ! Why should the ones who forked over the BIG money for these not have the same opportunity as u to get them by making a simple phone call and asking ? I paid 40 for whirlwind when she first came out, there's no chance I'd pay 600 for a set of traps. That's honestly just stupid on your end to drop that much on plastic. That's your business but that's my opinion. The way you're acting is immature in even your reply that you are. You can say you're entitled but honestly I'd be with the OP not as much about getting the traps but being able to get them at a reasonable place in an actual store. It's fine people got them, but the page shouldn't turn into a gloat machine when I remember reading a horde of people were really looking for these things day and night and didn't get squat. I feel for those people most. Not the over obsessed collector. Not saying you are but it's real close when you spend THAT kind of money on these things. Seriously people they aren't worth that much anymore.

No disrespect to u and or anyone else.. started as a joke between friends ! Many of us pay a great deal of $$ for what we want ! Thats our decision to make ! As for the 2nd set of traps, I didnt ask for them. A error was made. A comment was made to a fellow collector and of course everyone wants to have a say so. My thing is if it doesnt apply to u then ignore it ! Everyone here talks about what they found and or purchased. These are no different than someone finding a variant, getting more than one "frito lay" figure, etc. Its not that SERIOUS ! No disrespect intended toward anyone ! There are "true" collectors here. Respect that ! If u feel we pay too much for a figure, trap, etc. thats our business ! My son has them all - Disney Infinity, SkyLanders, Lego Dimension, Amiibos, etc. I can afford it and will continue on.

I fully support the idea that collectors should be able to have every trap at a reasonable price. I chose to get 1 of each element plus a bunny and kaos. I think the Light Yawn Trap is pretty sweet, but the Owl Trap looks better to me, so that's what I got. It should be the collector's choice to have the traps they like the most and not pay stupid amounts of money for them. That's for chase variants and non-resale stuff. If you like to pay extra, that's fine, but there should be a choice at least.

I think, we got caught up in the "i have to get it" when started. Instead of the minimum needed to complete the game and get what you really must have. Now its gone crazy. I'm sure others will agree !
I will say there is" more and more "fake" figures such as the patina nightfall and burn cycle that people are totally getting taken advantage of ! 500.00 plus on ebay for a fake ! WTF?

I got an envelope today from Activision and it had my last missing trap. Inside was the Life Yawn trap and now all 3 Yawns have found their way home. I want to say thanks to Activision for helping me out with getting a complete set. I have all of the traps now. Thanks goes out to Stephanie, and La Verne and Alex, some of the best customer service reps I have ever had that helped me out. Thanks everyone.
