Never been a fan of monochromatic variants.
The effect does look cool but I would personally never buy a figure which doesn't have all its original and beautiful colors. It would just seem like a waste of money. Soooo... How many SuperChargers' figures without variants of any kind are left, again...?

A step over patina, but VARIANTS VARIANTS. Fits Tomb Buggy better than RB though, she just looks plain with few colors just like her Legendary.

At least they look better than those other chase variants.
You know, the ones that look like they went with public restroom for the color palette. |

I'm okay with these Chase Variants. It's just... Chase Variants. I don't feel like they're necessary or something. Some people do, but they would probably like to see more Variants, right?

It should be called bronze though. We already have a copper/patina. This is a deeper tone like bronze.

Alright, they went over the line. They have WAY too many of these chase figures already. Five Patina figures and two Bronze ones.. ugh.
Even more miffed that they chose Roller Brawl.

This is the second game with least Chase Variants in the series (only bigger than Trap Team, who had like 4-5). So yeah...

Some info for you guys that would like to know where they came from
Bone Bash Roller Brawl Bronze Chase Variant (That's what I'm calling her anyway) was found at a Toys R Us in Missouri. (Person that found her works at the Toys R Us). Wave 4 so far only has shown up at Toys R Us so I'm also assuming that Tomb Buggy Bronze Variant was also found at a Toys R Us. Your Welcome.

I wouldn't say it's a matter of chase variants (even if they are the cheapest).
I'd say the problem is the number of variants itself. They went beyond the number of actual new figures. That should never happen. I wish I could say it wasn't expected... But with a game which only comes with 10 brand new Skylanders, 8 revamps and 18 vehicles which certainly aren't as unique as the characters, I was kinda expecting it. Less characters, more figures.

Yeah... Kind of makes me wish they go back to a larger roster next game. Maybe at least 30 characters, that would be good. To me, anyway.

I'm officially turned off on Alt Decos - chase or otherwise. They constrained unique figures only to overproduce the others. It's rather disgusting to me now. |

The superchargers ride is almost over, actually..
5 vehicles- Power Blues, Buzz Wing, Gold Rusher, Spring ahead dive bomber. 5 characters- Power Blues, Thrillipede, DDTH, Eggcited thrillipede. That's only 10 toys left, and at the rate things are coming out, i think we'll have the whole roster by may. |

But Giants had like 40+ figures counting the reposes. This game has 20 figures and over 20 variants. Even though some of them are just chase variants, I agree that's a bit too much. |

I agree that there are too many variants now ...... IF you happen to be someone who feels compelled to "collect them all!"
Outside of that niche market, I think it's fine to have lots of variants. If people don't like them, they won't sell (metallic Shroomboom, Love Potion Pop Fizz, Legendary Zoo Lou). If people do like them, they will sell.

Normally I would absolutely agree with you. I don't even buy reposes, why would I buy a bronze painted character...? But I feel like SuperChargers is a special case. When you think about it, there are "only" 40 unique figures between vehicles, brand new Skylanders and revamps (not to mention 8 of the new Skylanders are just half new). You might think it's a lot but compare it to the number of exsisting variants. Hot Streak alone has like 5 or 6 versions. They wanted to make as much profit as the older games by also reducing the number of unique molds. Which better way than release tons of cheap (in terms of production costs, not quality) variants? Some are in-game, sure, but a lot of them aren't; and let's face them, even the in-game ones aren't as valuable as a brand new Skylander would be. So yes, variants aren't a problem and simply add extra toys for the collectors to look for. But when variants are more than the actual unique characters/molds... Then yes, you have a problem. That's why I facepalm each time a new SuperChargers variant is revealed while I simply couldn't care less, past years.

looks better than the others but i agree on what many have said here. there's just too many variants which shows they're simply running out of ideas to try to churn out revenue. you know it's almost a blunder why would they do this if chase variants are low in number to begin with to find? people aren't going to buy other figures looking for this one and they're just wasting resources on making it by doing only so many to dump into the market. unless these chase variants start to increase in quantity it doesn't matter how many appear if they all get bought up in their rarity. it's just stupid to keep making so many. I'm really turned off from buying them. been too busy enjoying lego dimension sales and paying 1/5th the price of skylanders and a lot more space for storage.

The amount of variants is just getting out of hand! But on the other hand these figures are probably my favourite chase variants of SSC so I just feel so conflicted as to where to stand on the matter.... I just hope Acti don't announce any more variants though.

I believe these variants will be harder to get....because wave 4 usually isn't around long...but I could be wrong...love the look of these...and I think there will only be the 2 variants in this black/copper (without a 3rd figure) like granite variants from giants (whirlwind and zook) just my guess....could be wrong...and without getting off topic has anyone got an official word on burn cycle variant? (Sorry if this has already been discussed) As I was writing this I bought roller brawl variant on ebay popped up as a buy it now...woot! I also just found tomb buggy variant in the wild

I just found the bronze tomb buggy at Best Buy about an hour ago. Looks great, bronze was a good choice. The picture doesn't really do it justice.
I'm sure some of you want picture proof, but I don't have any picture account setup and I'm not sure I'm going to. I've never found a chase variant before (unless you count golden hot streak) and this caught me by surprise. I was shopping for something else and just browsed by the aisle. Some tomb buggy and regular hot streak and was thinking about getting it (I had ordered those 2 from Toys R Us BOGO 50%, but don't like waiting for the shipment. I actually put my hand on the variant and left it there, it was right in the front. I looked some more and saw the standard tomb buggy and thought my eyes were playing tricks on me...and then I realized it was a variant. And I get what everyone is talking about with 'too many variants', and it does negatively effect the collectors who want to get absolutely everything. I probably would agree in terms of the seasonal variants, nitro, dark, and legendary. However, finding a chase variant in the wild is fun, and I'm glad they put it out for fools like me to find. |

Found a copper Roller Brawl at Best Buy, and then copper Tomb Buggy at a local Walmart I found the Power Blues at last Thursday. Same day I got the land pack in the mail.
Gonna hold onto them as trade fodder for the three Yawn Traps. And if no trade, I'll get enough to at least two of the Yawn Traps, if not all three.
