I saw something interesting at TRU at midnight launch. There were PS4 Starter packs with a gold Hot Streak, vs the regular red one. It's not the E3 version either. There were four or five of them. Was this by design or a manufacturing error? Did anyone else see this? I wish I had taken a picture and I could show it.

Man! I wish there was a pack like that when I went to Walmart this morning. That would be so cool.

If there were that many, hard to believe its a chase variant! However, my Walmart once had five gitd zap so strange things have happened!

A Chase variant in a starter pack is a very interesting course of action. Although what I'm figuring is that they put them in PS4, PS3, Xbone, and 360 copies of the game because the Wii, Wii U and 3DS versions all have DK or Bowser as their "special" character. So this is a little perk for other players. Just my speculation though.

The E3 Hot Streak registered as Golden Hot Streak when placed on the portal at E3. Maybe this is the Golden Hot Streak. We already know that the E3/SDCC Hot Streak registers as Exclusive Event Edition Hot Streak in the game.

Agreed ZapNorris....but it would go to reason the pic we all saw from the E3 shot...of the Golden Hot Streak....and this figure in the PS4 box is painted like it.

I think that it's just a Chase Variant. The in-game ones are not painted like that.

And also, they are not go any far. Chase Variants in Starter Packs are old thing. Anyone remember of Variants that you need to buy a entire console to get?

So it's an in-game variant? Probably won't be as rare than, but still very cool. Will be on the lookout.

Unless I can find one (haven't seen any so far), I won't be paying for this on eBay.

I mean, it looks great; but there's no reason to stick a ultra rare figure in an already expensive pack.

It IS an in game palette, just to confirm. It introduces as Golden Hot Streak, is golden in game, and has it's own flair on the collection screen. Pic:

Well. #$%^ you, Activision. Went back to TRU and ended up getting a Dark XBox One and a PS4 starter with the Golden Hot Streak.

Only missing regular Hot Streak, so I can get that on its solo release.

It's an in game variant, so can't be categorized as "chase."

This is the kind of crap that really annoys me. I grabbed the dark starter pack and a couple of extra vehicles and figures and will wait to get the rest when they are pennies on the dollar. I was also able to grab Lego Dimensions today for the PS4 but that is another story.

People who are in-game variant collectors are frustrated since this is the first game where you need to buy a bunch of starter packs to have a complete collection. Past games weren't requiring completionist collectors to purchase anything more than one regular and one dark starter pack. You sound way too harsh with your comment. It is most definitely a new wrench Activision has thrown at collectors this time around in bundling figures you can't get as singles otherwise into a variety of starter packs. People have every reason to be upset and disgusted. Just because you feel somebody doesn't NEED to have a gold version of the car doesn't mean you should be bashing those who do collect all in-game variants...there's lots of them in these forums, so chill out.

There's a possibility that the Gold Hot Streak can be released in Single Pack. They can release in the same time as the normal Hot Streak. It's a chance, right?

I REALLY hope so. I'm getting my PS3 starter the 25th and I really hope they have it. If not the single pack would be AWESOME!!

I recommend searching for the Starters with Gold Hot Streak in the internet before buying it. You have the chance to find a little better offer (or just buy the normal starter and buy Gold HS separately).

Take this as a hint that variant collecting isn't feasible anymore - that makes 7 Starters required. You will feel much better when you leave them on the shelf. Some of them, notably Steel Plated Smash Hit look horrible.

Side effect, you probably will be finishing up your collection in April instead of waiting until mid June if things go the same as before.

Has this been found in any other starter pack besides the standard ps4? because if so....and its found in the 360 copy may end up caving and buying it if i see it in stores....

If he is selling it to you for that much on release day then he is not your friend.

Stuff like this make me glad that I'm redoing how I'm doing Skylanders...

For the first 4 games I collected EVERYTHING that wasn't a chase variant. And I never finished Trap Team because of those blasted Yawn Traps. Over the time thinking and as more info of Super Chargers released I looked at my collection.

Now I divided everything apart. I'm only keeping Series one versions of the characters [with the exceptions of Minis, whom I am keeping, and Keeping the Trap Team versions of the original 8, and the 8 Repose Super Chargers, due to their new move sets].

The rest of them I am going to sell, this includes the 3 variant Magic items. [Platinum Chest, Gold Dragon Cannon, Legendary Hand of Fate.]

It makes collecting Super Chargers Much easier too. I only need 3 to 4 starters [Wii U, 3DS, any Dark edition (for the Kaos Trophy), and maybe an Misc Starter, unless Spitfire gets a Single (Which is very likely)]. And no store exclusive variants, or overpriced Eon's Elites!

For those of you who [i]haven't[i] gotten your starter packs yet, Toys R Us has a pretty great deal. When I went to mine for the midnight release I picked up the XBox One Dark Starter pack then happen to spot the PS4 variant. I was going to just buy the regular Spitfire anyways off of Ebay, because I love translucent figures , so I just picked it up as well. With Toys R Us' current deal of buy one get one 40% off, it took $30 dollars off the price of the PS4 starter pack. The total of the game after the deal ended up only being $44 and some change, plus tax, but I believe it was pretty worth it. Though that could just be me.

On another note, I also went by my Target and saw that they had it too, but only for the PS4 starter packs. Hope this information helps those that are worried about spending too much. Happy hunting everyone .

I found gold hot streak in the PS4 starter pack at Target. I didn't even think to look at the midnight release last night or this morning at Target since I had no idea about it. I found it when I went back out to look this afternoon. None found anywhere else that I went, and I went everywhere!

One Hot Streak says "Event Dition" in-game, and this one says Golden? Wow. Lots Varians.

In the 3DS version (I got it), it says Golden Hot Streak as an in game variant. Not the E3 one, this one.

The only way I will get gold Hot Streak is if it is sold as a single. Thinking about it, I could have picked up the gold HS with the hope that the red HS would be released as a single. I did read that is supposed to happen, but I that didn't cross my mind when I was at the midnight launch. Regardless, I won't be hurt if I ultimately don't get it. Plenty of chase variants I don't have because I wasn't fortunate enough to find them.

I said it some months ago and I'll say it again: this year we only have 10 new characters (not counting the Skymiibos since they are console exclusives).
The other figures are either revamps or vehicles.

OF COURSE they had to create a lot of other toys to at least reach Trap Team's total number of figures.
And which better way to do that than coming up with, sometimes cheap, palette swaps...?

They clearly don't care about hardcore collectors anymore (assuming they even cared before) and cards are another obvious example.

Well, he's selling the whole starter pack for that price. I decided to go for it because it's only $20 dollars more (not paying him any tax like he paid). So in the end I was okay with it. Will sell the additional content.

I just found one at Target and was like "whaaaat?" They only had one and for the PS4. I had to come on here to see what the deal was. It looked pretty cool, but I doubt I'll ever get it, even if they release it on the Xbox360. I'm still not even sure we're getting Superchargers since Christmas will probably focus on Lego Dimensions. But there's a possibility we'll look for it for my son's birthday in May or when there are sales next summer. I got extra copies of Trap Team for $2+ so maybe then I'll get Superchargers . Although it will probably be tough to find anything. Pretty impossible if they have the stock issues Trap Team had. Either way, by then, Golden Hot Streak started will probably be long gone. It does look to be an in-game chase variant. They've never done that before, but that doesn't mean anything. Just because it's in-game doesn't mean it can't be a chase, even if they've never done it before. As long as it's only one per so many cases, it is a chase variant. Considering people are only finding one at a time, it looks to be the case.

I'm sure there will be plenty of regular, normal and simple Starter Packs on Europe's Day One... But this whole variants thing is sincerely starting to get out of hand.

This is Activision throwing a bone to PS4 and XBox One owners in spite of Nintendo system owners getting their exclusives...so people don't complain...and we can see how that worked out

Why can't I find one in all of Las Vegas? I checked every store around me, and no Gold hot streak. That guy is super Lucky!
