I use the stickers to know the order I obtained the characters.
Without two, what am I supposed to do? I hate you right now, Acti. Is that $3 not enough for a card to be included?

The cards won't even unlock anything in the game, Sure they show you stats that actually aren't true and they have no effect on gameplay and some people like to put them in a book and stuff but seriously, Whats the big deal?

And again they were there for 4 years straight (just like many things this entry changed or plain wiped away)... Why get rid of them?

It's mostly the aesthetic. I love having my cards all organized and lined up. Now I can't do that. Activision took away something about Skylanders that I loved.

Stickers also don't unlock anything in the game,and you can find the code in game. Who cares if it unlocks something in the game,though? Cards you kinda have to use IRL.
People already gave several reasons; custom games or Top Trump expies, keep track of your collection, have a handy way to look the artwork or the overall stat distribution(which might not be accurate but most of the time is right in the proportions).

Well I really don't care about the cards (at least half of my collection is used without cards)I am disappointed that they dont come with them. That was the only big draw to buying a lot of them new. I hope the sticker sheet is the same size as the cards. Time to pull out all my spare ACG cards....

Well, absolutely no news today, even in the middle of PAX Prime. Can't say I'm happy with this, GameXplain is literally the only ones with footage,and all articles today are just a repost of the video. I think it still has to open again for today,but still, there was a whole day one yesterday.

(nothing on that youtuber group's vlogs either ._. but they didn't show any footage of the nintendo booth so here's hopes for day two)

As much as I don't like their mentality as a whole I'm not that sure this is their fault.
I would no doubt hope so since that would mean TfB would bring them back in the sixth game but I have the suspicion this was an Activision's decision.

Whether they are good or bad changes they are still unmotivated.

It's VERY unlikely it's their fault. VV went out of their way to make artwork pieces with or without the new backgrounds just like every previous year, and it's hardly taking any of their time to send any of this to the people printing the cards especially since the stats are there.
As much as I don't like this decision,it's not theirs probably, and really not the end of the world.

Well, I'll take a small break, hopefully by the time I'm back we'll have something better to talk about.Just keep in mind to not take the card discussion on for too long, at least one news piece/news analysis or discussion at a page and all that.

EDIT: I leave for one second. Possible Instagram official giveaway tomorrow. Never an international giveaway so can't participate etc etc etc.

Actually, I like the new art work backgrounds and the new logo. These aren't screw ups in my opinion.

As for bases, this was bound to happen eventually. They only have so many colors they can use.

Okay, let's say that the "VV is screwing everything up" quote isn't a complete generalization and overreaction... in all likelihood, the game's software developers (In this case, VV) have absolutely nothing to do with the physical product development and packaging teams, which themselves likely have to answer to the higher-up executives at Activision... there's almost no chance that Vicarious Visions had anything to do with this decision.

Well,who's think I'd find something new on the Gamescon builds! Found someone from Germany that only recently uploaded his footage of it, but on 4:00 of this video, you can find out that there's actually a cap to your racing earnings - after 5k gold and 1,5k gearbits you need to go back to the Academy if you want to keep grinding. Doesn't seem it'd stop anyone from just quitting and going back to play some more, though, so I don't know what's the point.

It might be that chest that we see FGTV opening in the Academy,too, that gives a ridiculous amount of gold and in one of the videos a mod.

If it's a public event there's no reason to; and the GameXplain footage seemed to be out in the open since there was quite a lot of noise still; other places like Minecraft Story Mode according to vlogs have enclosed areas where you're not allowed to record in contrast. Hard to tell if people just don't know it's there, youtubers are just unlucky trying to upload footage,or Nintendo really isn't allowing most people to record.

Also I don't think you guys entirely understand how much money getting rid of the cards saves. The code sheets are basic, white and black pieces of paper with the only unique thing being a basic font code, and stickers, which are ridiculously easy to print at such a small scale like that. Meanwhile, cards are made of cardboard, and have completely unique color printing on them, which makes them much harder to print, especially when they're so limited.

All of the money that went into cards is going into a completely new game, new cards with new artwork, and an actual reason to buy cards. Cards have been updated, and the old ones are obsolete now. Deal with it.

Those are the supercharged versions, already saw them at Gamescom. Speaking of conventions, did the schedule for PAX mention the console version of Superchargers? I was hoping we'd see a bit more gameplay.

Correct. This is squarely on them, along with the $3 bump in price. Everyone knows that in addition to no cards, we're paying for a collection we would usually get 30% more for the price, right? Vehicles are one game wonders and they're charging $15, unlike last year's traps which were much more economical. Paying 2x for in game content that's almost assuredly won't be available to us on the next adventure...hard pill to swallow. No one here rarely discusses that, but the economics of this franchise is getting bad.

VV's done what appears to be a masterful job in bringing this to market RELATIVE TO DECISIONS I'm sure Activision made. I'm focusing my frustration straight at Activision. No sale, no sale. I'm still pondering the re-reposes purchase decision. Just don't feel like rewarding them for reheated beans--who needs the smell, right?

Again, the game itself appears to be great (concerns about too much vehicle action is warranted)...these marketing decisions...bad. Very bad. I actually hope they slip again on sales, because I personally do not accept it (sadly, this also throws VV under the bus, but not sure how I can articulate my pain except through their bottom line). Maybe if everyone cooled off buying the game for 30 days they'll get wind of the lack of sales and adjust mid year.

Gonna have to agree with that, Lemons. As much as I want to like the game, the decisions just feel random at this point. And of course, because we're so in the dark, first attitude is blame the devs even when they for once have nothing to do with it. Unfortunately,even the company - you can bet they'll put the fault on VV for whatever Acti does wrong alone.

Sadly, you're right...they are all about the bottom line...so if they're smart they'll find out the SPECIFIC THING customers are peeved about and fix it and take ownership...otherwise...watch out below.

Yeah, in terms of "connecting" to the fans pre-release, they get a C on delivery. The good news is, they haven't said anything yet that was later contradicted like Trap Team. I gave them a B for Swap Force, the only thing I didn't get to know was how they were handling Heroics and Quests. We're about 20 days away and there's still a good bit to divulge, at least on the toy side.

I still, personally, think that Trap Team had a way worse marketing period last year. Remember the confusion over traps and villains that didn't stop until the actual release of the game? How about everything involving Light and Dark characters? It was an awful, confusing mess, and at the very least Superchargers is trying to keep everything clear and honest, even if it's not doing super well at that.

Absolutely, Trap Team was a mess...this year has just been somewhat of a lack of disclosure...probably because THERE IS LESS to talk about and folks haven't caught on yet. I think folks will find this game almost as streamlined as Trap Team, save for the bonus rounds. I hope they pull a wrecking ball out of their hat and discuss more after story features.

Still would've liked something. More or less on interview, at least we had plenty of no commentary trailers, the year I decide to pick the info apart and help out, we get the least >:C
But I'm more impatient than anything at this point, sorry for derailing with the rant - I'll have to leave for now but hopefully we'll have at least someone passing a camera facing towards the booth on a vlog or something.

2. I agree with the no cards.
3. Online is not limited to racing, there's online co op story mode.
4. It's a 50/50 split if even that.
5. I don't think Cores are needed actually. It's kind of a wise move if you think about it. They only revamp Cores, so if they stop making new Cores, then every Core will have a revamp eventually. As long as they stop cherry picking the overused ones. (I wouldn't mind a Roller Brawl every year though. )
6. I think it mostly doesn't feel like one because they've only been showcasing racing and vehicle segments. The on foot gameplay which is actually a giant chuck of the game will still feel like a Skylanders game.

Don't think that buying them on EBay is a proper way to boycott them from activision. The people you buy them from bought from activision, and if they sell, they'll keep buying from activision..., to keep selling. You're STILL feeding the pig, albeit indirectly. The only way you can TRULY stick it to acti is by refusing to buy altogether. The only reservation I had about buying pre-owned was the card myself, but only for my favorite figures. Knowing that I can't do this with my newer figures sets me free from having to have ANY cards. I saved 7 dollars plus the cost of shipping by buying S2 Spyro pre-owned with other figs at GameStop instead of buying him seperately at Walmart to get him NIB. Also, he rounded out my purchase at 15 figures for B2G3 (no savings if you only want 4 figs...), and there was only 14 figures i really cared about (I was trying to get everything i needed for heroics (the thing is though, I only care about getting all heroics for SA compatible figures atm... So I bought S1 figures when possible, except S2 lightning rod because he's exactly the same price...)
And while I'm missing 18 heroics, as my (recently) updated sig suggests, my bro ordered 3 of the figs (Dino rang, drill sergeant, and flameslinger) I'm missing, and S2 Zook covers 2 heroics (one in SA and one in Giants), so I only needed 14 figurines. If they still came with cards, I'd be at a loss for what to get as #15... Because I'd refuse to get S2 Spyro without cards...

I actually don't care about cards, but not having them is a constant reminder that I bought a fig secondhand... Now it won't be. Now I'll NEVER have reservations about doing so!
Personally, I RESENTED cards for that reason.
