- A medium-sized cumulus cloud weighs about the same as 80 elephants.
- If you drilled a tunnel straight through the Earth and jumped in, it would take you exactly 42 minutes and 12 seconds to get to the other side.
- Each person sheds 40 lbs of skin in his or her lifetime.
- The human body has 206 bones, but has 207 when its around you.
- The strongest creatures on Earth are gonorrhea bacteria. They can pull 100,000 times their own body weight.
- When a flea jumps, the rate of acceleration is 20 times that of the space shuttle during launch.

You would never get to the other side, because the heat and pressure would kill you. That, and you would simply get stuck inside the hole you drilled because of the shifting gravity... ...Not that you could even drill a hole through Earth, since a large portion of it is liquid iron. Even if it wasn't, the hole would collapse because the pressure inside the planet is strong enough to keep the planetary core from melting, even though it sits at a comfortable 5000 degrees Celsius. Oh yeah, and the core also spins. And let's not even discuss the physical impossibilities of making a drill that can withstand such pressure, temperature, be long enough to reach through the planet and have a motor strong enough to push it through the planet, let alone push it's entire mass upwards through the last half of the journey, and still make a hole wide enough for you to go through. I know I'm overreacting, but I had point that out. |

(This will never be true but I have to says this)
"Hey did you know 99.9 percent of people die in there life time?" "99.9 percent who is the 0.1 percent?" (Stabs the other guy) "Not you!" (Insert Mystery Skull Ghost music here for the guy who lived) Or (Insert How Could This Happen To Me here for our dead guy) And now you know 0.1 of people don't die in there life time and the rest to the more you know.

Both the Moon and the Earth are actually orbiting their common center of mass, that point just happens to be 1000 miles under the surface of the Earth.

This is a theoretic. If you could withstand all conditions and jump through fully it would take 42 minutes, also, once you reached the end, you'd be pulled back and fall again to the other side due to gravity. You wouldn't be able to get out of the loop, you'd be stuck falling forever.

I know it's theoretic. As I said, I just wanted to point that out. And yeah, you would reach the other side, but only if the space inside the hole was a perfect vacuum. If it was exposed to our atmosphere the space would fill up with air, which would slow your fall and you would eventually get stuck in the middle. That is, if the hole was exactly through the center of Earth and no "side" (quotations since round holes don't have sides, of course) of the hole would have more of Earth's mass behind it than any other. Also, you would have to keep your center of mass aligned with the middle of the hole at all times. If you were just a little off, the same thing would happen as in the gravity simulation of a model of a flat earth in this video. The video itself is irrelevant, but it's a pretty interesting video nonetheless. |
