Is it a good or bad idea...
I want to get some opinions before I go get anymore as I only have 3 since I just Started...

I bought most my collection used.

Its not a terrible idea. I havent bought any recently but i assume most places have a return policy if a figure is damaged or doesnt work properly.

I've actually found a couple hard to find figures used in the past

I bought complete loose basic sets of giants and spyro adventures for about 150 a set two years ago. I think they go for about 125 a set now. Never had an issue with any of them. If you are semi serious about collecting, buy a cheap lot off ebay and see how you feel about them and if you want any more. On average you should pay about 2 dollars per Skylander in a mixed lot. But after a while having so many gets excessive and boring as you'll never use them all, so getting one of everything probably isn't recommended. 30 to 40 characters (about $100) should be enough for an average fan.

If you buy them from GameStop they are usually in good shape. I got a used Boomer, Magna Charge, Dark Spyro, Drobot and Tree Rex from there and they all look great.

Yeah used/pre-owned figures are A-okay dood!

I recently started buying them too, I got 2 figures for less than the price of one!

I've never gotten used 'landers in bad shape, so, as long as you order from a reliable source, you should be fine!

Great way to get those hard to find items without breaking the bank.

All the used ones I have bought so far work perfectly fine. Just check the paint jobs and if there is any missig pieces and you should be fine. Two of the ones that I bought used was already fully upgraded. Less work if your lazy.

I buy used only for the purpose of making customs, I like to have all the stat cards

I buy used ones off ebay, so far been happy!

only problem with used is they do not have to codes for use in the iOS games (this is not a problem if you have the portal from battle grounds). Even if you use the in game option to get there web code, there is a chance that the code could have been used before and will not let you add that skylander to your account.

Would you (or someone) mind clarifying this for me? When buying used, even if the web code that came with the figure has been used up, can you still use the battlegrounds portal to add the figure to the iOS games? Conversely, would using the battlegrounds portal with a new figure "use up" the web code that comes with the figure? I've seen conflicting info about this.

It has been my experience that using the physical figure on the portal doesn't effect the link code. I've toy linked my swappers on six different accounts already.

Skylanders: Lost Islands is available for apple (iOS) and android devices. Cloud Patrol and Battlegrounds are also available for iOS, not sure about android. Trap Team tablet edition and Battlegrounds both come with a bluetooth portal and you can use these to "toy link" and unlock the figures in the game.

I am not ashamed to buy pre owned Skylanders . That was the only way i got to play Dark Light Crypt .

Recently I got Ghost roaster and the SSA legendary 3 pack used .

My pre owned Bouncer LED does not light up but that does not bother me . His main purpose was to link his toy code to my lost Islands and he works just fine in game .

I like to think i am saving preowned Skylanders and giving them a home where they will be safe and appreciated .

I am hoarder from a family of hoarders and i enjoy the irony of a second hand toy outlasting a brand new one , just because it was lucky enough to be chosen by me .

I bought all of mine new but I do buy second hand ones when they are cheap enough. I have now have a total of 3 boomers. 1 the new one I bought, and 2 loose which I picked up at differents swap meets 1 even had the card/webcode.

I bought all the reposed 7(and Camo as he was unreposed at the time) and the adventure pieces and the magic items to go with Sunburn and Ghost Roaster with no problem. GAME/Gamestop send them back to the factory and have them cleaned and reset before they sell them which has been confirmed because I had a double of Zap and returned him and they told me.

I buy alot of skylanders used, it saves alot of money. It isn't true universally about Game sending skylanders to be reset- every one I've bought from several game stores hasn't been reset, and ones ive sold ive seen on sale in stores the next day . So if you buy used ones for a child- id check the nickname before you give it too them

Used skylanders that's how I got my variants!
But I don't use them that much because if you think about it if the skylanders was a kid's it would have boogers all over it
