Wow, that's awesome! I'd be willing to bet that it's just employee exclusive or something like that though. It doesn't even look like it would work with any Skylanders game, since the pic makes it look like Eruptor doesn't even have a base.

I don't know but that's the guy from Coin Op Tv. He does a lot of videos on skylanders so im sure activision just sent it to him.

It looks totally cool, though. I want one!

CoinOP Tv in his video showed the bottom of the packaging that showed "Not For Resale". So it may be just an exclusive if you are in the know...

It's a plain toy that does nothing in the game (confirmed by Coin Op TV).
I still want it, though.

Does he show up as special series 1? Or maybe even special Eon's Elite?

It's a cool employee and friends of Activision promo figure production! These would definitely be shelf warmers if they ever saw a retail release.

oh wow, I think is the first time they've ever done that! Pretty neat.

I'm assuming these will probably be passed out to the balloon wranglers and such who work at the parade. Likely wont be sold and will probably just handed out to special people.

This is the best looking skylander I have ever in the package! Has that "I'm really there" feel to it!

I am (optimistically) predicting that if they have gone to this level of design, it will become a publicly available toy on, or soon after, the parade day.

As most of us already know, Coinoptv got his stuff from Activision. I'm getting the same. And I am sort of a media person, but not in any connection with a company.

People that are partner with Activision and that do Skylanders videos receive stuff like this from time to time. They received most of Wave 1 when the game was released, Elite Spyro and Elite Chop Chop.

I see a huge difference between doing a limited run of an existing item and the packaging being the standard packaging plus an identifying circle versus designing a completely different toy, packaging artwork, etc.

The latter is an exceptionally non-trivial exercise. I am not saying that it is impossible that it was done for a limited number of "VIPs" but it is far more likely it was done to generate revenue.

No way...this clearly looks like a non-game unplayable promo giveaway. You have to take off the Skylanders fan blinders off and see this for what it is...fancy packaging aside, it's a cheap paperweight thing that'd have trouble moving off the shelf at the dollar store beyond the first week of sales. The production cost of this thing is a fraction of other VIP and employee figures that had chips and worked in the game. Considering that the figure packaging has the words "Macy's" on it, it probably was also given to liaisons that work on the Macy's side for the Thanksgiving Day Parade. If meant to generate revenue, royalties would have to be paid to Macy's. It's the same rationale as to why Kickoff Countdown was not called Word Cup Countdown...the guys at FIFA would have wanted their cut for figure sales. Activision could have easily produced an extra 500 of these guys just for collectors...rather than mark them for resale, they could have sold them as a charity figure through a special website, but they have their reasons for not making things like this available outside a special few "friends and family" as I like to call it.

This would have required:

1. Development and production of a separate mould
   
2. Graphic design an production of specialist packaging
   

That is expensive and non-trivial. Adding a RFID chip is (pardon the pun) as cheap as chips.

I don't live in USA but from the website it looks like Macy's does not stock the game-playing figs, right?

To me, that could be a key indicator of why the fig is not game playable - I perceive a good chance that Macy's will stock these as some sort of exclusive.

I accept the premise that being non-playable they are really just dollar crap in disguise but it would not be the first product in the S/Landers franchise which was. Indeed, tree ornaments, anybody?

The game of Trap Team, Eon's Elite Spyro and Chop Chop, Wave 1 toys, the Thanksgiving Day Eruptor toy here. I've gotten other things as well before Trap Team.

Well he wisened up and did the exact same thing I would have done if I had one I was looking to unload...3 day auction with low starting value & no reserve...let the bidders at it rather than setting the price!

I'm sure there will be a "knock off" or third party release of something like this! Seeing how it requires no chip or programming and this is the biggest parade in the US...It would make a great tree ornament, but I just love the packaging on this one

I have been to Gamestop twice in the past week and each time the salesperson said there is going to be a special figure release on black Friday. He did not know who it was just a special figure. Possibility it could be this? Or is the figure already known.
