Hello everybody! Welcome once again... for the first time... to Adam's Trap Team Reviews! Quite the complicated concept really. You see I... review... Trap Team... characters... okay, so it isn't so complicated. Yeah, I decided to make this a Wednesday-ly thing. So if you remember my post announcing this little series of mine, you would know about the little Knucklehead poem I left hinting at which character I would review. So here he is! Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome...

Croc and Roll!
[User Posted Image][User Posted Image]
Snap Shot! Is he worthy of being the Starter Pack's main Trap Master? ...Even though I don't really have a say in that? Let's find out, shall we?
On the right is Snap Shot's dark variant, the version I own.

DESIGN

Let's start with his design. He's a bipedal blue crocodile (or "crocagator" if you read his bio) wearing some armor around his shoulders and chest, as well as gloves, and carries around that Traptanium bow and arrow. Overall I find his design basic, but still appealing. After all, he is a starter pack Skylander, and I do think his design is good enough to be the poster boy for Trap Team.

3/5 - Average

GAMEPLAY

Snap Shot is on the slower side, but he's not like turtle slow. More like... crocodile slow. I don't know, but it feels just right for the character. In terms of attacks, he basically does what you'd expect a bow and arrow wielder to do. Shoot arrows. But aside from that, he can also take said arrow and slam it into the ground. And if you do this attack while airborne, considering he's fully upgraded, it also sends out crystal shards from the ground in a wave to damage enemies. His whirlpool attack is the one I chose to develop in upgrade paths. Not only is it good for taking out swarms of Chompies or similar enemies, but if you choose the same path I did it can also temporarily trap enemies in a watery veil. And not to mention a kraken. Overall I found Snap Shot very fun to play as in terms of abilities.

4/5 - Good

PERSONALITY

In his bio, it states that he trained to be a hunter. And playing as him I can definitely see him as the kind of guy who would enjoy the thrill of the hunt. He's also got an Australian accent, which does make sense as crocodiles are commonly found in Australia.

Wait a minute... he's got an Australian accent, his bio states he's a hunter, and he's a crocodile...
[User Posted Image]
Eh, probably just a coincidence.

And this sort of hunter character does make sense for someone who's supposedly the leader of the Trap Masters. After all, what do you do in the game? Hunt down bad guys and trap them. So personality-wise, he's also a good character.

4/5 - Good

OVERALL RATING

-Design: 3/5 - Average
-Gameplay: 4/5 - Good
-Personality: 4/5 - Good
-Overall: 4/5 - Good

With a basic design, but better gameplay and personality, Snap Shot is one I can definitely recommend for your collection. ...Unless you only want to get the 3DS Starter Pack. ...And even if you get the console or tablet versions you really don't have a choice but to add him to your collection. Um... so yeah, he's a great character.

Next time on Adam's Trap Team Reviews...

It is I, the Chompy Mage! And you are not a Chompy, so I don't like you!
[User Posted Image]
Yeah, we're not ending there. As I said in my announcement post, I'd be holding votes for which villain to do a mini review of at the end of the main review. And with... two votes... one vote for Chompy Mage and one for Bruiser Cruiser, I decided to do a personal vote and go with a Doom Raider first. So here he is, the one and only Chompy Mage, back from Giants! And Chompy Mage is a very fun character, both in gameplay and personality. If his design isn't enough to show you just how Chompy crazy he is, then just wait. He can attack by slamming the ground with his Chompy Staff, which does quite a lot of damage, and can also transform into a giant Chompy and create shockwaves whenever he jumps! ...He can also summon two Chompies, but I didn't really find that all that useful. And don't get me started on his personality. He's just nuts. So what else is there to say about him really? He's the Chompy Mage! He was great in Giants and he's great now.

5/5 - Great

Chompy Mage can be trapped at the end of Chapter 3: Chompy Mountain. Defeating the Chompy Mage is the only way to finish the level.

Leave a comment below with your vote on the next villain for a mini review. And also if you agree or disagree with any of my opinions above, feel free to (respectfully) reply on that as well.

Just to point out, Adam, I think it's best to stick to one thread instead of making multiple topics of your reviews on each character, if you're planning on doing multiple topics of each Skylander.

Nice reviews! As for a villain: I would like to see the Doom Raiders more spaced out across reviews so that we're not just left with lame ones at the end. I'd like to hear something about Shrednaught.

Anyway, good reviews! I'll definitely be reading the rest of them.

I suggest Masker Mind for the next villain.

[User Posted Image][User Posted Image]
Last week we saw Snap Shot was definitely worthy of being in your starter bundle, now how about this guy? Let's find out.
On the right is Food Fight's dark variant, the version I own.

DESIGN

Well, firstly, he's a walking artichoke with a tomato bazooka. Gotta admire TFB's creativity. As a whole, his design is very simplistic, and has a similar appearance to someone like Trigger Happy (in fact, both got stubby legs and guns, so...), though I think it works in Food Fight's favor. After all, can't go too crazy for a starter pack character.

3/5 - Average

GAMEPLAY

Let me just say, Food Fight is a LOT of fun to play as! His first attack is shooting tomatoes, nothing special. Though with an upgrade, these tomatoes will plant themselves if they hit the ground, which you can then pick up and use for bigger tomatoes. He can also leave behind these little artichoke bombs. And I recommend choosing the upgrade path for these artichoke bombs, because it makes them much more useful in battle. He can also do this zucchini blast which is mainly more for crowd control, but if upgraded can actually deal some pretty good damage. And by far his best power is his soul gem, where he rides on a giant tomato and rolling over enemies. So yeah, as I said, he's a lot of fun.

5/5 - Great

PERSONALITY

Um... well, I can't really sugar coat it here. Most of Food Fight's personality is pretty much just vegetable puns. Kind of like the movie of the sa-NO, NO, NOT GOING TO THAT. Here are some examples:

"Eat my veggies!"

"Not even a bruise!"

"Now who's green?" (which doesn't really make sense if you got the dark version...)

"Tomato paste in your face!"

Yeah, there's really not much to say here. I mean in some trailers you could probably see him as kind of a standard weapon's expert personality... but for the most part it is vegetable puns.

2/5 - Bad

OVERALL RATING

Design: 4/5 - Good
Gameplay: 5/5 - Great
Personality: 2/5 - Bad
Overall: 4/5 - Good

Decent design, great gameplay, but kind of lacking in the personality department. Food Fight is still a fun character despite his flaws and I definitely say he's worth your time and money.

Hey, Broccoli Guy was framed, okay?
[User Posted Image]
With a total of two votes, by popular demand, here is the one and only (not really) Broccoli Guy! Like many, I was a little bit unhappy when I first saw him. After all, he's a piece of broccoli with a stick. Named Broccoli Guy. Cauliflower Guy if you beat his quest, though. And also like many, when I finally did get around to trying him, I pretty much fell in love with the guy. Mainly due to his personality. This guy is just hilarious! ...And for some reason he kind of reminds me of Christopher Walken. In terms of gameplay, he can perform this little magic blast spin... thing... that deals decent damage, and he can also place down this healing pad for you to switch back to your Skylander and heal him or her, making him useful after a tough fight. What else can you say about him that hasn't already been said? Gotta love the Broccoli Guy.

5/5 - Great

Broccoli Guy can be trapped in Chapter 3: Chompy Mountain. During the cave section where Life element Skylanders are stronger, press a button that will lower a wall. This will allow you to push a cannon in front of a cage door and blow it down. Go inside and Broccoli Guy is waiting for you... and he won't even really attack you, just take care of his two Slobber Traps.

Leave a comment below with your vote on the next villain for a mini review. And also if you agree or disagree with any of my opinions above, feel free to (respectfully) reply on that as well.

That's the reason I can't like the skylander Food Fight lol. DX That movie gave me suicide thoughts about 10 min in.

I never saw the movie, but judging from the Jontron and Nostalgia Critic reviews, I don't think I want to.

Lucky you! Hilarious reviews tho. smilie

Can someone tell me why Krankcase's theme is so catchy?

Is that a vote for Krankcase, or just an honest question? 'Cause I don't have an answer.

OH CR*P I'M LATE FOR WEDNESDAY'S REVIEW!

Um... I mean... Welcome back to Adam's Trap Team Reviews! I'm your host without the most, AdamGregory03! And today, we'll be taking a look at the Trap Master who loves grinding gears. ...Don't take that out of context.

[User Posted Image]
All Geared Up!

Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to Gearshift! But Adam, I hear you fellow Skylanders fans saying, isn't she not supposed to be released until 2015? Well, true. But the people over at Skylanders-Making-Land had a deal early after announcing the game where if you pre-ordered her, she'd be available day one. So (for those who didn't pre-order her) will she be worth the wait? Let's find out!

DESIGN

Gearshift is an android with a giant gear. Kind of an odd weapon choice. Good thing she knows how to use it, but more on that later. I like the amount of detail in her design, with her coils, those... things on the side of her head that I think are supposed to be robot ears... the smaller gear on her forehead. She looks like something from the future, which is kinda fitting as one of the levels in the game takes you into the future! (Uh... spoiler alert, heh...) Plus... I also kinda think she looks attractive. Yeah, I'd definitely do the robot-

WHAT DID I JUST TYPE? ...Um... moving on...

4/5 - Good

GAMEPLAY

Let me just say, I LOVE how she plays! They went all out with the concept of using a gear as a weapon. They way they made it is that her secondary attack shifts between different modes of her gear, which alter her primary. The first is Hoop Mode, which deals the most damage, but isn't really the most reliable. The second is Blade Mode, in which she snaps her gear in half and uses the halves for melee attacks. The third is Fragment Mode, and let me just say, if you choose the upgrade path for Fragment Mode like I did, it's gonna become the only mode you want to use. She also has this cartwheel attack which deals decent damage and is good for dodging. Overall, she rocks!

5/5 - Great

PERSONALITY

Well, according to her backstory, Gearshift was built by some king to serve as his daughter. But rather than become the robot princess, she was a bit of a rebel and liked building things. Sounds kind of familiar. *cough*Sprocket*cough* Sorry, had a bite of a tickle there. It also states she's pretty smart, using a labyrinth to her advantage. And yeah, I can somewhat see that kind of person with Gearshift. Though in the game, I think she sort of comes off as just a sort of generic robot personality. Helps to read the backstories sometimes.

3/5 - Average

OVERALL RATING

-Design: 4/5 - Good

-Personaluty: 3/5 - Average
-Overall: 5/5 - Great

A pretty good design and superb gameplay. Her personality's not the best, but I don't think you'll care when you're using her to grind the gears of fury upon her enemies! If you didn't pre-order her, then trust me, she definitely is worth the wait!

Time for some pummeling!
[User Posted Image]

You guys really wanted me to get the Chompy Mountain villains out of the way, huh? With a total of five votes, we have Bruiser Cruiser! And to be honest, I don't really get why he was so popular. Well, okay, let's start off with the positives. I really like this guy's design! I think it's very creative for a troll vehicle. Not to mention he also hits like a tank! ...And he also moves like one. Seriously, this guy is so slow compared to the Bruiser Cruiser enemies, they look like they're driving Mustangs! (I'm not sponsored in any way, I swear) And actually, I've never really found him that effective. His punches don't reach any further than a few inches, and his little fire-spewing attack, while powerful, leaves him wide open for damage. Though back to the positives, I also think this guy's kind of funny with his dialogue. There are better Tech villains, but it's not a crime to like him.

3/5 - Average

Bruiser Cruiser can be trapped in Chapter 3: Chompy Mountain. You gotta beat him to progress through the level anyway.
