I don't understand the reasons for the "mini" characters.

I'm playing the game for a second time, but now I'm using the mini-Spyro, "Spry."

Basically I just don't really understand the reasoning behind the mini characters.
Are they in the game just to look cute and appeal to the little kids?

It could also be some sort of value in my eyes. For kids with 15 dollars for allowence, they could spend them on one Trap Master, a couple of traps or two playable Skylanders in one pack.

Yes. I was debating whether or not to get them, and ultimately decided against it, just like with Variants, Series+ and Lightcore.

When they brought them out in the past everybody said "We want them playable!!!"

Now, they are and everybody says "WHY?"

BECAUSE YOU ASKED. End Of.

They listened for once and people are moaning.

If I'm correct, I think there's also a small area in an academy building that you can use the minis to get through, but from what it looks like, it just has a few coins.

Why cant they release single packs, because all of the double packs have old sidekicks that a lot of people already have?

In my opinion a mini is a cooler way to do a repose. It opens the door to more possibilities down the franchise road, a mini Boomer named Boom Boom..... Plus I always wanted my sidekicks to be playable.

I'll admit the first time I saw Spry flying, oh god I had to laugh it was between adorable and hilarious.

Personally I appreciate the fact they're more than just vanity items, that and it gives me a chance to collect them without spending huge amounds on Ebay, always did want Thumpling, now I'm gonna get my chance!

I would have liked a modified move set, but at the very least make them feel different. If they were super fast, but like 50% weaker than their normal sized counterparts, I would have bought them. As they are, if you only keep one version of each figure in your collection, like I do, these were the easiest pass I have ever made. I will admit these are a way better idea than lightcore, and if you don't care for wow pows or variants they are a solid deal on getting more skylanders. I wish we would have got minis for the other Giants, as I'll admit I would have bought them. Not having to get out those huge figures to play as Tree Rex, Eye Brawl, Thumpback and Ninjini has made me use them more than in Swap Force already.

Can somebody clarify if the mini-giants get the MASSIVE health the same as their full grown double?

I haven't got any so can't really see what they are like. Are they slow like the big giants?

I'd rather them have been familiars that ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING other then run around and get in the way rather than playables. Though I do like TFB thought about Bash fans like me. ...I can't say I'm a big fan of Bop's looks though. None of the minis are that cute.

Wow Pows or even just the ability to switch paths would've been better than just S1 figure in tiny form.

it was to fill out the otherwise small amount of figure releases it feels like and a better fit then light core. compared to the past games with the minis it feels like they are completing things and probably going to do something completely different another time around IF they make a lot of money. i don't see future waves getting tons of purchasing.

I gave Spry the rude boy hat to increase his armor, since his armor is ridiculously low.
(Not surprising)

He looks silly and adorable in that hat.

I agree. I have no real interest in them. They are supposed to represent alternate reality versions I know, but it's never been a story focus. The only reason I have them...Run and Jini, is because I got them free at EB/Gamestop. I'll gladly take them if they're free smilie

I didn't buy any since they are scaled down versions of their normal characters. They may look appealing on a shelf, but thats it. And I think paying 7.50 for one is absurd since you can get the full sized character for 9.99. I will probably buy the packs on a huge sale one day and buy singles online from the ones I already have.

Exactly! Hammer hits nail! There have been many complaints about the constant reposes, so this is how they got around it. The fact that they are the same figures as the original Sidekicks just gets around the fact that many were not able to acquire the originals (EU, APAC, AUS, etc). Now they can own them, and they are playable. Those that own the originals, for all purposes, do not have to re-purchase these new ones. (You know we all will Activision you devils...)

They solved a mess of problems by making these figures playable and then creating more ("Ooooh! They are sooooo cuuuuute!") And they are lower priced.

Triple threat. Well played, Activision, well played.

I really want a little eye brawl and hex. I assume the mini giants are faster? Also much less cumbersome. I hope I can get them seperate though as I never got ninjini, but I don't need ANOTHER spyro. I really want a mini drobit too.... so tiny, so deadly.

They're just there to be cute and fun. I love them! (Much better than a lot of the reposes, IMO, because they look different in-game.)

Got the dark pack, and tiny Eye Brawl is hilarious. Because they have to jump the same height as the cores, they look like they're taking huge leaps. I'd get all the packs if I could afford it.

For everyone who's annoyed that they exist, at least they aren't needed to unlock gameplay (like Trap Masters or Swappers). Same as the reposes and variants, they exist for collectors or players wanting something a little different.

When first released, the full sized Spyros Adventure characters were sold for $8.99. Considering you can get them at Five Below and other places on sale for less than $5 these days, it makes the price point of these new mini double packs quite absurd. I understand this is a fan site and many people here flocked to the midnight release to get every new figure including these minis, so I feel like I'm in the minority here waiting for very deep sales rather than fall for these blatant cash grabs. I might cave around Black Friday if TRU goes with the buy 1 get one 70% sale again this year, but I'm not biting at the buy 1 get one 40 or 50% sales (plus standard TRU $1-2 markup) they have in the interim. Amazon had some great buy 2 get one free sales without the TRU markup last holiday season (3 cores for $20).
