@ someperson - most of the islands are just foam. The stands are 3/4" acrylic tube "glued" to acrylic circles. The rest is preett much just paint, armuture wire and clay.

@ dinoah - I'm not sure how much the materials cost me. I built the display little by little over several months. I did probly spend over $300 though. Most of the cost was for the foam spheres I used to create the bottom of the islands. ($12-$18 each instead of making my own half circle from much cheaper sheets of insulation foam.

Another thing. How are you going to do Trap Team when it releases? Assuming that you would get it.

What are you going to do for trap team figures? Add a new island for each element or try and fit them in?

This is absolutely incredible. I love how its so simple, foam islands, yet your attention to detail has made has made them incredible. Rocks in the lava, eyes in the cave on the undead island, the detail on every rock and crystal.
I love how its future proof. future sets equals more islands.
i'd do this myself but I have so many variants I feel mine would look so cluttered

I'm not sure what I'm going to do for trap team yet. The original thought is that I could add another 8 islands and try to squeeze them onto the table. I do like the spacing as is, I rarely bump into things when I'm swapping figs on the portal. I guess I could build a bigger table. If history repeats itself, I will probly build a whole new display after the next game releases. Truth is I enjoy the creation process. Maybe I will build around displaying the crystals in a traptanium prison. In any event, I have 5 months before I need to think about it ☺

Most impressive DaMadNes ...VERY well done. MASSIVE undertaking.
When i saw the Islands you could buy i thought of doing this, because $70 bucks was just to pricy for me. But i never thought of doing the elements Islands...thats a great idea.
Still going to make my own...of course that is when i can afford it i will make my own ...lol.

@ MadTyger - I started it when SwapForce came out because I had to replace my Giants display. I could probably do the whole thing in about 6 weeks, but I took my time with it.

@ Giants Rule - The Ice is made of foam. I painted it blue and then highlighted up to white. I then put white flock on it, rubbing most of it of so the color shows through. The clear water was made with woodland scenics realistic water.

@ Pryofe - I am almost certain I will build a prison to hold the trap crystals, it will most likely also be the stand that holds the traptanium portal. I will post once I have it

@ Phoenix_Lord - I also got the idea from the the same toy, but it wasn't very convenient for holding a large collection since so few models fit on there well. I look forwward to seeing your version.

That's really amazing. I love the detail and would have never thought it was foam. Love the detail in all of the islands. Very creative and original. The one thing I could suggest for future proof is to maybe make the island have brackets or something on the back and maybe mount them straight to the wall. That would give you more space and allow for more of them in a display I would think. I agree making a prison for the crystals would be pretty cool. Look forward to seeing how your next setup looks. Agree with everyone else that when you do work on the next one if you could provide pictures of the process would be pretty cool. I'm sure there is a lot of people that would love to do this but have the fear of it because of seeing the finished product. So just giving a little shots of the process will show it takes time to do it and its not gonna happen over night.

Fantastic job. The different textures really give it a lot of life.

@thunder1648. I did not want to affix the islands to a wall, at that point I couldn't create any depth, so it would be the same as sitting them on a shelf. Each island has its own stand, the stands are not affixed to the table. So its pretty future proof from the standpoint that I can move the islands around into different configurations, or accross multiple tables if need be. I had hoped for telescoping stands so that I could adjust the heights, but I couldnt get that to work.

If you heat the blade prior to cutting there is little to no dust. Well ventilated rooms only.
