There are all kinds of things in that auction that are against EBay policy.

He won't accept a customer cancellation, but I can bet you that he will allow himself to cancel if Best Buy cancels his pre-order, which is likely because he probably ordered a bunch of them. Yay, a $25+ premium for the honor of him placing a pre-order at Best Buy for you and having him just re-ship it to you.

EDIT: I really wish EBay would do something about people that put up these pre-order things. There needs to be penalties equivalent to non-payment as a buyer for non-delivery on a pre-order for a seller. There needs to be more risk involved for the seller. If you want to dabble in the speculation game on unreleased items, then you need to pay the price for making empty promises designed to take advantage of people when you cannot follow through.

He has 12 of them, I wonder how (or if) he got around the household limit.. I hate those kinds of people so much.

Sadly, people try to pawn off regular Skylanders as variants on eBay all the time. Using a regular Spyro and calling it "Dark Purple Spyro" and pricing it as if it were Dark Spyro is very common. I've seen many sellers try to sell regular Crusher as if it was Granite Crusher, too, like this one.

Retail price for the lot is about $1k, give or take. Probably just trying to make some dough. Which is fine, if he can find a buyer...but I think most who are buying these things know what they go for.

I'm not sure whats wrong with these... the first is for a LOT of cards. Not just a package...

The second one, sure is a bit expensive, but I myself haven't seen any wii u dark editions in my area lately so it is becoming rare, so this isn't a surprise.

As for the third one, its 4 swappers for 100 bucks, thats only 25 a piece, which yes is a mark up, but not like the people that sell them for 30 or 40 a piece. and you get a carry bag too.

But, for that price you can just buy the Wii or 360 edition which I still see regularly at stores for the figures, and then get the WiiU regular edition for the portal and game. That way you would get the regular versions of the figures too. And you would save a significant amount of money if you get them on sale. You could even sell off the Wii version and the regular figures if you don't care about that (but if you are going to spend the $$$ to get the special Dark figures, one would think you are interested in collecting them). The only angle where that might be of value is if you want to collect the boxed WiiU one and don't intend to open it at all.

The four for $100 is insane. Those four figures are insanely common, and you can easily get them on sale. Heck on one of TRU's frequent B1G40off, you could score that for less than half his price and not have to deal with a scalper or his $9 "Economy" shipping. He is clearly depending on buyer ignorance.

For the cost of that WiiU Dark version, you could buy an xbox and the starter...not the very newest, mind you, but still....as for the 4 figs, they're also selling a case with them. I can't recall though if that's one of the ones that doesn't actually fit swap force figs. If so, they really aren't making a good case (pun intended) for buying this "set". And you gotta love that they have two available!

Found the Dark Version WiiU pack at amazon for 199.95, so it's not like you can't get a better deal. Not only that, but there was a used one that had everything for 169.99....and another check showed 84.99-88.75 for loose dark edition figs + 43.29 for the regular WiiU starter. In any case, you can get it for better.....

I understand that. And I'm not saying that they're over priced and not worth the money. I'm just saying I don't see how its a "fail" as its still better prices than a lot of people trying to sell for high prices (like individual swappers for 30-40 dollars which I see on ebay and kijiji all the time)

These are all "in my opinion" posts. Your mileage may vary, obviously.

If I wasn't concerned that it might violate the forum rules, I'd suggest a "buy this, not that" thread with links to better prices vs worse ones. But that could easily be abused by those wanting to advertise their ebay listings so....but I can see the need of having some sort of buying guide. Anything that gives collectors an idea of what is a reasonable price, updated frequently to reflect the current trends. Or do we already have a thread like that?

Anyway, GhostRoaster is right that these are opinions. Some fit with the majority's consensus and some are just based off of personal feelings.

That's a nice custom, probably looks better than the real Jade Fire Kraken. My only issue with that auction is that he refers to it as Jade Fire Kraken, although he does make very clear in bold letters that it comes up as regular Fire Kraken. I would prefer he just call it a "Custom Fire Kraken", rather than potentially mislead buyers.

The dark edition pack sold pretty poorly in my area. Theres still close to 20 at my eb games and theyre marked down to sell. and not selling very well. So it depends on your area and the demand.

and as for the easter special guys. Im pretty sure only the states best buy is getting the pre order. In canada we did not. So a lot of people are probably afraid they wont be released every where. There for driving up the demand for them, and the price.

Disagree. I don't believe sellers are responsible for buyers who only read titles from making incorrect assumptions about the product. Seller could have worded it 'Fire Kraken - custom painted like Jade variant' to be clearer perhaps but it isn't necessarily. I understand that some users may assume it shows up as JFK in the game, but that assumption is clear spelled out in the description.

To me, I am much more bothered by sellers who describe the figures as rare or rtf when they are not, just for the purpose of raising the price. However those are subjective terms that have always been allowed in sales.

I'm most annoyed by "NOT [rare figure]" auctions. They just put the rare figure's name in the title so that they show up when you're searching for the rare figure. I think that's actually against eBay policy as well. >.>
