I just saw the commercial, and searched about it on Internet; it's a promotion that gives you the opportunity to win a Punch Pop Fizz, by finding a code inside a stick of Big Babol.
I don't know if these gums can be found in America (or generally outside Italy), but it could be a grat occasion to get a special Skylander!

Toys for Bob, the original development team behind the incredibly popular Skylanders franchise, is reportedly developing a brand new Skylanders game for the Nintendo 3DS. Details are fairly scarce, but the last Skylanders game developed by Toys for Bob was Skylanders Giants for home consoles and handheld. The game received an average review score of 80 on Metacritic.

Next week, 16th-19th. But Activision mentioned that the next game may not be featured at Toy Fair this year due to competitve reasons.

They still do have a booth there, so we will at least see some big announcement about releases, or the new game. Sorry for off topic, but I don't have school today!

Yeah, I'd wager they are either doing SOME kind of announcement for the game or they are going to have news on waves or variants. Otherwise it would be a nigh waste to have a booth there.

I'd be fine with a June-July announcement personally. There's still hundreds of dollars still left to go to wrap up this silly game. No purchase from me if no online, no toy innovation (vehicles/weapons don't apply) and no movement on the basic chapter story mode progression.

Feels like just yesterday SF was announced lol, looking forward to see if anything's unveiled at the toy fair.

You know what'd be cool? If they distributed some functional prototype figures for the next game at some event (maybe a little later into development). I imagine they'd have much higher value than regular chase figures.

It's in the interactive toy space. Call of duty would never be at toy fair except for mega bloks.

Well, they are already late. Last year we already knew the name, some characters, and even saw a trailer, prior the ToyFair. This year, it's likely we'll se the new game only during the event itself. I think that "dealy" was referred to the anticipations.

They don't have to adhere to your perceptions of the correct timeframe for announcing the game, if at all. It will be interesting to see how truly innovative they can continue to be on this series.

Are we even sure they didn't buy the space for a red herring? Though it would be awfully expensive to do that. Is it something they've ever done? Or...omg...what if they make a COD version of the toys to life model?? How sure are we that it's a Skylanders booth? Activision is a big company with multiple titles. It could be that all along we've been assuming something. Thought it'd be too bad if that was true. I want some hints for Skylanders 4! It would nice to have something to speculate on that isn't from that video, you know?

Disappointing... really disappointing...

Seems odd. I can't help but feel they're waiting for Disney to announce something first, but I can't help but feel that announcing the game on it's own (rather than at some event like Toy Fair or E3) will hurt the games chances a bit, since a lot of it comes from people being able to get a hands on with the toys.

There aren't any big events I could see Skylanders at until maybe... PAX East on the 11th and 13th of April, and then after that it'd be E3 in June.

Actually, they said they will reveal it later this year, for "competitive reasons". Maybe they are truly waiting for Disney to announce Infinity 2. However they still have a big booth at the ToyFair, so, something will be announced. They won't be there for nothing.

We could see something about the 4th by the end of the month, as that new Frito-Lay "Name a new Skylander promo" starts at the end of February.

That image, from the article you linked, is their booth for Toy Fair 2014. It says the photo was taken on the 12th of February 2014.

From the article this seems like the only good way to look at it:

"Gamers will have to wait longer to find out what's next for the world of Skylands. Another way of looking at it is the wait between the reveal and launch of the new games and toys, which typically happens late summer/early fall, will be shorter this year."

Actually, now that I'm thinking on it, I once heard that the new game could come out during August, this year...

Regarding the naming contest, I find in weird: I mean, let's assume they have created a new Fire Skylander, wich looks like a lava slug, and they would like to call him "Slugma" (just an example), and then the winner of the contest choose to call him "Spike".
If they reveal the new characters BEFORE the contest, so we can at least see them, then it's good, but if they are going to start the competition without showing them first, it could be a big mistake.
