He's not out in retail yet. I agree that Stink Bomb missed my expectations as well. Others that I thought would stink (like Wind-up) has been one of my favorites. Funny, huh?

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed.

thanks Ninja, but have seen people post useful gameplay videos, and character reviews in the past well before a character has come out.

anyways

I don't really dislike stink bomb all that much just like I said hope that trap shadow would be closer to my combat playstyle. It probably won't be the case for either sneak swapper because though I do like stealth elf I really don't use her stealth all that often and when I do it is for the wow-pow which I like her's a lot more than stink bombs tail swipe.

my basic synopsis between the two is

Stink vs Trap

stink
basic projectile
projectile with 4 way shot
basic melee - no combos

Upgrade to
additional projectile with knockback
or
create barrier with projectile like camo, cept his is not consumed by contact, but instead by duration

VS

trap
basic melee that does combo with a dash element (which I prefer)
melee kick that does shoot a projectile
projectile (trap) but not sure any additional functions of this attack. As in does it knockback, slow, hold, dmg over time, ect

Upgrade to
basic melee attack does combo (I imagine like Free does as in multiple attack in a row) ends with knocking enemy into the air instead of the standard knockback which i think most people including myself find more useful.
or
trap does dmg after x amt of time (assuming .5 to 1 to 2 seconds) as no attacks in Swap Force are really long wait durations like we saw in giants and more so in SSA

THEN

Bomb vs Shadow

bomb
basic stealth (like stealth elf)
Stealth cause cloud that does stationary AOE dmg (minor dmg)
melee attack out of stealth

Upgrade to
2 clouds
or
walk slowly and drop a path of dmg dealing trail mechanic like we've seen in many other characters
and this is by far one of the worst "path" due to the slow part (again in my opinion)

VS

shadow
basic stealth (like stealth elf)
deals dmg in the form of point blank aoe (probably minor dmg like bomb)
stealth auto ends with explosion aoe dmg (which I prefer)

Upgrade to
melee kick does dmg to a greater distance
or
can leave a "path" that deals dmg

All of these summations do assume the character has full upgrades and soul gem

my info was gathered from videos like
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZU-ShXSc_I
which showcase the combos, and other info

My current reasoning, (and again pure preference not saying either is categorically better especially since I have limited info on trap shadow) is that trap shadow is at least slightly more in tune with my playstyle are two main things
1.
primary attack

stink bomb is more projectile based, and really nothing we have not seen before
and I really don't have any clue how trap shadows "trap" works but it does seem to take a back burner to his melee attack

Trap Shadow is more melee based, and the melee combos do move the character and dash which is something I do like with free ranger and other characters. I think it's more fun in that regard

2.
Forms of "stealth"
Stink Bomb basically drops AOE stationary clouds
Trap Shadow deals dmg to nearby enemies which is mobile as it surrounds him

Stink Bomb can melee strike out of stealth which is nice, but I wouldn't use it vs his far superior projectile attacks
Trap Shadow stealth auto ends with point blank AOE dmg that will happen no matter what attack I choose do doesn't replace an attack, but instead in additional to what I am already doing which is more useful in my opinion

That is the best review I can put together from what I have gathered about these two guys.

Wow, they posted a video titled Skylanders Swap Force Scratch Gameplay, and didn't even use her in combat. I really hate it when people post videos that are supposed to show off a Skylanders' gameplay and then half the video is other stuff like breaking objects or solding puzzle locks instead of fighting with them, the combat is really the reason I ever look at those videos. smilie

Hackers usually do that all the time, just to show off characters that they get to play by hacking while others can't for the time being.

I could not AGREE with this more... even the better review videos typically do not showcase the attacks the way I would prefer or in the arena I like the best. It is typically just someone spamming out the same attack that is their favorite for that skylander during the combat

Which is fine, and those people are providing some useful content, but I'd really love to find an analytically combat review. Show the individual attacks and numbers on dummies then fast edit to an arena fight showing that attack multiple times. I most prefer angry angry plants.

Then do the same for the other attacks, then the last 2 some odd minutes doing a free form attacks in that arena to finish it up.

Ikr? Some of them don't even know the concept of hacking even though it was already explained to them.

I honestly would love to do "serious" reviews myself, because I don't think there's any content like that at all, and I have tons of spare time to play the game and edit videos together... They'd come out more slowly(something like both paths of one Skylander a week), but I'd like people to learn some new strategies from them and help out those people who don't have the Skylander and aren't sure if they want them as well as just provide some entertainment and deeper analysis... But I lack a capture card, any editing software or a microphone to use! It's too expensive for me to get those things when I'd only use them for Skylanders. smilie

On some of them you can tell the reviewer pretty much just used the Sky Diamond exploit to buy all the upgrades right away and wanted to get the review up as fast as possible instead of really testing out the Skylander much... Sad.

yes... there does seem to be a HUGE value to being the FIRST or Early reviewer than there is on a deeper understanding of how you are suppose to use the skills when you pick whichever path.

I am in the same boat as you as far as the technical, and equipment is involved.

I mean arenas are the best fastest way to see a skill in combat, but I feel like you don't get ANY real understanding for how it is suppose to be when they are almost always done with a lvl 1-5 character for tons of reasons.
At the high levels you have a ton more options in combat to take a hit or two to keep dishing out the high end dmg and clearing the screen than a low level character that is much more flimsy.

The thing is, I don't really see a huge demand for a more in depth review. Which is why I have been happy to just stick with writing out my explanations instead.

Why do you guys aways want them to be released soon? Cant you guys wait? If you don't want more games to come out so soon why are you impatient for new figures? Can someone explain?

For me its simple. I'm not playing the game as much as I'd like because I don't want to burn through all the content without playing all the characters - especially Swappers.

To steer back the derailment there, can anyone weigh in on the comparison I wrote up a few posts back. Like I said, I gathered the info from various sources and made some (hopefully) deductive reasoning based guesses.
