I like the idea of Lightcore figures, but I feel the in-game ability is pretty lackluster. Not lacklng in the sense of the damage, but in the sense that it only happens once and only when the character enters the game. For something like Survival Arena this is pointless. LC characters are more expensive (I know, production cost is probably a tad higher), but in game they don't have a wow-pow and cant switch paths so they already have that going against them.
Suggestion: Allow players to activate the Lightcore ability manually (hold right trigger and then hit Attack 3, on Xbox for example). Put this ability on a 30-60 second cooldown with a visible timer next to the character portrait. Maybe the character art or even the character itself can have some sort of glow when the Lightcore attack is available for use again. Wow-Pow abilities can be spammed over and over so having LC power on a 30-60 second timer doesn't seem overpowered at all. Taking it even further, maybe start the cooldown timer at 60 seconds and via upgrades, you can spend money to lower the timer to 30 seconds and increase damage.

Good idea, but that would make lightcores op'd as hell

i don't like the idea of lightcores being more powerful than their normal counterpart. this whole "you have to pay more to get a better character" thing is very bad. lightcores are for cosmetic value and collectors, not make them in-game powerhouse also

How about making them separate characters instead of reposes?

I dont think a lightcore blast every minute would be OP at all. Each blast only does about 100 dmg... once again you're waiting a minute to do this... that's a good while in gameplay time. I suppose they could tone down the damage or increase the cooldown to two minutes if they allow manual activation, but I'd prefer a less potent lightcore blast that can be performed many times over one normal powered blast wasted upon entry. Also, this is not a point of Lightcores being better and therefore you're paying more for a better character. Lightcore figures DO NOT get Wow-Pows. AGAIN. Lightcore figures DO NOT get Wow-Pows... so they're already kind of gimped from the start. Honestly, I'd prefer to have a lightcore with no LC blast but rather a wow-pow. However, I like the idea of the lightcore blast being a unique mechanic to lightcore figures but I don't like how its implemented. |

Yeah, 100 damage every minute isn't that bad, imo. It sounds that way, but I don't think it would be- it's honestly not in SF. Sure, it gives them a big edge in certain situations, but that's GOOD becuase then it encourages you to use them. And a lot of people dislike LightCores right now: they're inferior if the character has an S2 (or gets an S2 after a LightCore) and they cost more.
Most combat situations don't actually last that long anyway. Maybe my perspective is a bit skewed as I only play on Nightmare mode, though, where enemies have much more HP. It could be taken down to 50 damage which is a decent attack with good spread but wouldn't be broken at all. Instead of it activating when they enter the game they could also just make it a thing you can trigger once in a level. I agree with blueruckus, I dislike the current implementation. Putting a LightCore into the game to use their smart bomb attack is worse than just putting on one of the old Location Pieces or Volcanic Vault, which do the same but last longer. And as a little bonus entry move, they aren't that cool. Also, this is subjective, but I think most of the actual toys don't look very good(it's improved since Giants, but none of the new ones are as cool as Jet-Vac or Prism Break, and there are still ones that don't look that great like Countdown and Legendary Grim- I also think the poses and stuff in general are simply less impressive, look at Smolderdash).

Legendary Grim Creeper has got to be the worst Lightcore in terms of Lightcore-yness... The dark plastic completely does not mix well with the light. Terrible.

Bad Idea in my opinion.
Lc skylanders are pure for collecting, and the blast is not even that special. LC Grim Creeper might be a bad choise... or, you just bought the wrong one. My L Grimmy lights up purfect Another point. This game is for kids, these kids like the light, they buy them, activision is happy All that matters is money... notthing more, notthing less. |

But the light runs out after a while. If Activision is charging a lot of money for lcs, they should at least make them able to light up forever.

I agree, it's stupid that we have to buy another repose just because it's a lightcore.
