In S:SA and Giants I've always used Stealth Elf to finish a level under the set time. Her tumbles are fast and she can cut through any enemies in fast time when she has to. But if she and the others from the first two games have been reduced in capacity I need to find someone else. So who is everyone's go to fast/blast through Swap Force character?

Stealth Elf is still a great choice, but Roller Brawl is crazy fast, especially on the infinite headbutts path

Magna Charge.
If you don't have him, then I don't know.

Flashwing works fine.
Anyone works if you just speed through the level. |

Anyone can work, but you need to drop the difficulty down to an easier level. Some of the time attacks are damn near impossible to accomplish in nightmare mode. I would like to shake the hand of anybody on here who can get all the levels done while getting the 3 stars solely on nightmare mode. You can trick the system by completing all the time challenges on nightmare mode outside the time limits (getting one star in the process) and then going back to an easier mode to get all the stars (within the time limits).

Yeah. I'm not sure some of them would be possible on nightmare just because the Skylander doesn't have the ability to burn down the enemies fast enough. But back on topic, Magna Charge is by far the easiest in my opinion. Rollerbrawl is nice too, but Magna Charge is a lot quicker to take down the enemies that aren't skippable. |

Magna Charge, he can grab nearby clocks (even the yellow 20 second clocks) with his magnet ability!

In my mind, the time attack modes were never meant to be done in concert with the other stars. I think on any difficulty that would be pretty near impossible. Also, I don't consider it a "trick" or "cheat" if it clearly allows you to do it which by the way has been in place since the first game. So no guilt from me.

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed. |

Magna Shift.
Good attack, instant KO of most foe by throwing them, teleporting (fast), more than one life, magnet ability can draw in time boosts. |

Bumble Blast is surprisingly powerful.
I used a team of him and Nitro Magna Ranger to defeat Super Evil Kaos on Nightmare without taking any damage.

I would definitely select Roller Brawl with the Shadow Skater path for most chapters in Time Attack. Also, while fighting bosses like Evil Glumshanks, Mesmeralda and Kaos' Mom, I'd choose Boom Jet, Dark Wash Ranger, Spy Rise, or any other Skylanders that deliver damage more than 100 percent.

Spy Shift or Spy Jet.
Haven't done much on Time Attack yet, but these would be my ideal candidates. |

Is equipping hats and legendary artifacts that increase running speed recommended over damage increasing items that would quicken fights?

I would say so as you can just run right by most enemies. |

My favorite 5 to use in Time Attack (in order):
5. Terrafin (Easily beats up enemies, but is slower than the others on this list) 4. Drobot (Plows down enemies, decent speed.) 3. Stealth Elf (Best one before the top 2. Plus she comes in the Starter Pack!) 2, Roller Brawl (Overpowered and fast.) 1. Magna Charge (Like Roller Brawl, but is a tad bit slower but can pick up the time clocks. That makes him better.) Same good things to put on Magna Charge: Magna Jet, Magna Zone, etc. Also, if you can, use the Winged Boots. They are useful for the minute they last.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Wind-Up. He's probably the fastest non-running character, and if you use him right you can plow through pretty much everything. I managed to get a time of 1:10 on Cascade Glade with him... On Nightmare Mode(may not be the best example, but yeah).
I have no idea how he fares compared to Magna Whatever though and I don't think he's the best, but he seems like a viable option and deserves some mention. I would guess the best option would be a Magna combo, since you can draw clocks in with the magnet ability. And pick a fast bottom. People suggest Magna Shift, which I haven't tried at all, but it seems to me like that would work. I haven't played time attack much since I got tired of the cutscenes- actually, the only level I've played was Cascade Glade. I hate the cutscenes. It's certainly not nessicary for simply three-starring them, but if you are serious about getting the absolute best possible time you can you will keep replaying the levels over and over to perfect everything, that's how speedrunning works- and seeing all the dialogue and cutscenes over and over and over, every single attempt... GROAN.

That's good to hear. I've been trying to locate a SWI pack locally with no luck. Wind-Up looks pretty beastly from all I've seen on him. I went through all the boss fights on Nightmare Attack Mode with Spy Jet and it was just stupid. I just don't wanna use Jet anymore, stupidly broken, and Spy is pretty OP on its own. |
