I see from the poll going on right now that people seem to love Tentacoolest way more than Ink Artist?
I'm wondering why that is.....

Specifically in light of the soul gem. Assuming I have Wash Buckler's soul gem, doesn't using it out-do the benefits of having Tentacoolest?

I would think that you would still actually get some value out of Ink Artist. You get a mid-range ink shot plus leave behind ink for later damage to enemy(ies).
Then, when I want to get slap-happy, just use the soul gem ability.


Would love to hear thoughts....

People like slapping enemies and/or they picked that upgrade path.

I don't use the Ink since it doesn't do much but blind enemies. Useless in PvP.

Tentacoolest is decent in PvP, plus the rapid leg slapping racks up damage fast.

The tentacles are some what ranged,rack up damage,can be done infinitely and plus I just happen to prefer it.The ink is useless in PvP and just not as powerful.

If you roll around with him a lot (i.e. use the movement ability a lot), Ink Artist is much better imo. Just another case of the majority of players doing it wrong (imo of course). All I do is roll around and then charge up the dash / stab with the sword that does 115 damage on a non-crit (relatively short charge time and you can start the charge during a roll / somersault). Wash Buckler is one of my favorites and he's powerful with this strat. You can't be doing those things while using the Tentacoolest attack. You're rooted, aka a sitting duck for ranged attackers.

I think people believe Tentacoolest boosts his soul gem attack...which it doesn't. Ink Artist all the way. You still have a spamming tentacle attack that does almost the same amount of damage, and you can move!

have you actually tried that? ink does good damage. 35 per hit at a fast rate

Tentacoolest is a fine path for others, but I choose the Ink Artist path myself.

Ink artist is superior.

well, of course, the enemies have to step on it. it's not a projectile.

Tentacoolest is all for damage, i't easy to spam
I personally prefer Ink Artist because the ink projectile itself pierces through walls and objects, being pretty hard to avoid. Also the cloud is a nice add when you have to run away. It's not as powerful, but it's versatile
Also, lighting on fire the ink with Blast's fire wall is very cool X3
