You need to adjust your expectations. Lightcores ALWAYS look like the regular version, albeit with a little glow effect. However, Countdown's head glows red when you throw it and it is about to explode, hence what they were indicating in his paint job. His head is about to explode and his fuse is lit.

Lightcore figures always look like their core counterparts except when it's an in-game variant like Legendary Chill and the upcoming Enchanted Star Strike.

If you ever want to make sure how a toy will appear in-game before buying, look at the back of the package. The picture on the back of the package (which is a screen capture of the character in-game) is suppose to show how the figure will look in the game.

My son was a little disappointed with Lightecore Countdown, he thought the head would glow red from within. Disappointed to see it was just his fuse that glows, but still happy with the red painted face. Lightcore Wham-Shell was a nice surprise though, the glow from the mace is big and bright.

One thing I try to always do when purchasing a lightcore (or any figure, really), is try them out on the in store portal (if they have one). This not only shows you how they will appear in the game, but it also allows you to validate it works correctly and lets you see if the light is nice, bright and well positioned. When perusing the Lightcore Countdowns, I noticed a couple with very dim lights, and some Wham Shells had the light misaligned and didn't really light up the whole mace. Very rarely does my son get figures immediately (we wait until he earns them or a gift event), so often times the figures will sit unused until after the return period.

Yeah I had Light Core Count Down and took him back for regular. I didn't really notice any real difference. Figures like Light Core Wham Shell, Light Core Smolderdash and Light Core Star Strike look awesome in game. That and the were the first versions released (except for Whammy) lol.

If his head was red in game it would mean he was going to explode constantly. It's just a different pose showing him about to blow up. That's why his fuse is bigger and closer to his head.

Yup, as people have been saying, it is true that LCs basically appear as their regular version in-game.

Well not totally, the part that is built to be the LightCore part lights up in the game. This does not seem to work with all the LightCore's that came from Giants tho.

I did forget that, thank you. That is something that the regular versions don't have in-game.

The only LightCore figures that didn't disappoint me are Star Strike and Grim Creeper.

At least for mine, Legendary Lightcore Grim Creeper outputs about 10% of the light of Lightcore Grim Creeper.

It's due to the darker plastic mould they used for the clear parts.
