-first of all i'm not writing this on the upgrade recommendation thred because... there isn't one. there a lot of unofficial ones that get very few attention. i'd like to an offical, sticky upgrade recommendation path-

i have recently got zoo lou. i like him a lot, but i'm having hard times chosing his path. i want to chose a path go for PvP i heard that Bucking Boar is better but... i don't understand why. i have not every upgrade right now, but it doesn't seem very good
here my thinking about each ability:
Rough Rider: this ability it's not impressing me... it deals very good damage, but only to the enemies behind you... so in pvp, you have to escape to hit with that. and escaping with the boar... it's slow as hell. your opponent will attack you with no problem. am i understimating this ability too much?
Thicker Pigskin: more armor is always good, but nothing exceptional
Hog Wild: i haven't tried this yet, but it doesn't seem god enough to justify the path choice. first of all, the boar is going after you, so you have to face your enemy... making Rough Rider unuseful. it may deal good damage, but again... making the first upgrade unuseful
seems like a waste

on the other hand, i heard bad things about the Wild Wolf path, but it looks good. here are my thoughts:
Alpha Wolf: wolf get better and more resistant. very useful
Hunger of the Wolf: thanks also to the first upgrade, this make the wolf very good at damage. either the opponent take care of the wolf, or he will suffer a lot of damage
Hunter and Gatherer: increase you survivability. nothing exceptional, but also not bad.

so... what's your thoughts about zoo lou in pvp?

IMHO, Zoo Loo isn't really a PVP fighter. I use him in story mode, only

I think I am best for this question, as Zoo Lou is my favorite skylander. I have 3 Zoo Lou's (2 normal, 1 legendary. Don't ask how I got 3.), and I was disappointed by the Wild Wolf path. It is decent in Story Mode, but it is more of a minor annoyance in PvP. Any Skylander can kill it in 1-3 hits.

The Boar path isn't that great, but you can use all 3 attacks while on the boar. Plus, that extra Defense is really handy.

I agree, Zoo Lou is bad in PvP, but

Overall Recommendation (PvP): Bucking Boar
Overall Recommendation (Story mode): Wild Wolf

Choose depending on which mode you want Zoo Lou to focus on.

I prefer the Wild Wolf path as the wolf needs the upgrades, while the boar doesn't really need any.

It seems to me that Bucking Boar Zoo Lou exels as a long range fighter, abusing the wolf and the birds to do damage while keeping the Boar as a defensive-offensive tool whenever the opponent tries to come closer. So the boar is not really useful as a primary attack but very good against anyone that decides to get near you... i think it's going to be pretty though to deal with for melee-oriented characters like Stealth Elf, Slam Bam, Wash, Grilla and so on

but... can't you do the same thing on the Wild Wolf path? except your stronger wolf will distract the opponent more while also digging food for you?

It seems the upgrades to the wolf are not that much worth... everyone keep saying he still goes down like nothing despite having its health increased, that would make the attack faster upgrade not that significant as well.
The food digging i personally think could be a double edged sword: he could dig the food near the enemy, or far from you, where a fast opponent can get to it before you. I'm not very fond of this kind of risky stuff for PvP, that's why i prefer the armor increase and the option to use the boar as a third projectile, it makes him more solid

while still fragile, the wolf doesn't die immediatly and is able to deal some damage, since it's also very fast. it deals 30 damage with each and become also faster

uhm, i didn't thought about that, well, i guess i need to test if that ability help more my opponent than me

I haven't reached the path decision on Zoo Lou yet, but I'm actually along the same thinking as voodude.

So far, I have not enjoyed using the Boar much at all, whereas I feel like the wolf forces the opponent to either a) divert focus from Zoo Lou - to deal with the wolf or b) get blind-sided b/c his focus IS on Zoo Lou.

Maybe my problem with the boar is that I have trouble staying on him. From a buttons-perspective, what is the best way to use the boar?
