The "Some Users Just Want to Watch the Site Burn" Award
I'm not a psychologist. So I have no explanation for this phenomenon. But it's happened to MANY users. Maybe they're bored with the site. But one day, they wake up and tell themselves, "I'm going to be a complete jerk on darkSpyro from here on out." And so they do that. Maybe they only direct it toward a select few people. It tends to end when they finally get banned or just leave, although one specific person who underwent the metamorphosis (Blackholes_Wolf) is still around for some reason. Now we choose to recognize the most notable person affected by Nasty Troll Syndrome this year. And lament the passing of previously fun users. *sigh*

And the nominees are...

Brightscales
Technically, she's a repeat offender. She caused a few problems with her original account and vanished. Then returned and started out reasonably mellow (although hornier than a herd of rhinoceroses). Then someone flipped the spam switch on, she got banned, and decided to make a multitude of different accounts to spam as much as possible before she got caught.

X-Treme
His case is notable because of how AMAZINGLY quickly the transformation happened. At the beginning of the year, as thumpterra, he started like any sweet, somewhat naive young member. Then he became a little bit awkward. And then he turned rather nasty. Working around the censor and some of the spam I could forgive. But then his spamming got extremely inappropriate he he turned rather venomous toward other users. He got banned but it didn't stop there. Like Brightscales, he made way too many accounts. Unlike Brightscales, he made a very conscious effort not to get caught. To be blunt, he is the sole reason why I will now always be suspicious of accounts that make their first posts in Stuff & Nonsense and I will forward each and every one to dark to check. Yeah, I don't even have a funny joke for this blurb. Sorry if that disappoints you. ¬_¬

Big Green
This one is the polar opposite because it took a long time. Long ago, Big Green was a regular contributor of the forum when it was a small, tight knit community. Then she disappears, only to pop up in the middle of this year after several years of absence. Now I know that people change. Initially I didn't like what I was seeing. Most of what she was doing was disruptive and a bit annoying. But Big Green (and Rendar) toned things down and she's become fun to talk to again.

I don't understand some people. I know we can't always trust online communities, hence I never give out my name, but not disclosing your gender? I'm convinced people get some sort of perverse joy out of people mistaking them for the wrong ge-... sex. Dang psychological terms and what not. It's confusing I tells ya! Where was I? Oh yeah, mistaken sex. We don't want to appear too bias here at the Darky Awards, so we created an umbrella award to recognize the user most often mistaken for the opposite sex, whether they disclosed if they're male or female in their profile or not.

And here's a case of a long time user confusing others. Maybe it's the cool cars often serving as her avatars? It's a perfect example of how online forums can make gender distinguishing very hard because we have to base our impressions of people on what they post. And I guess she doesn't post anything that some people associate with females.

Another case of a girl getting mistaken for a boy. Although I think I'm probably the sole reason people took notice. Then again, I pretty much get everyone confused. We wouldn't have this award if it wasn't for me! <.>

Here we come to the first case of a user not putting their gender in their profile. You can't do that and then get mad at people for getting your gender wrong. YOU'RE SETTING YOURSELF UP FOR THAT TO HAPPEN! ...Greg says we're getting noise complains, so I'm going to go drink my apple juice and try to calm down. How many of these nominations do we still have?

Maybe it's in the username. There's something about it that sounds... uh, cute? I guess I don't inherently think "male" when I see his username with all his posts. Alternatively, it could be that Yoshi avatar. Of course, guys are horny, and having an avatar of the most promiscuous character in all video gaming (according to my 100% accurate headcanon do not steal) certainly fits that bill.

It's probably the double entendre in the username that does it for most people. Or perhaps it was some of her early actions like the mass DragonBall Z spam. Cause that manga-turned-anime is the EPITOME OF MANLINESS! (Disclaimer: HIR is not qualified to decide how manly anything is... himself included)

Show of hands, how many people tend to associate steadfast religious views and preaches with females? Maybe if we're talking about the stereotypical Bible Belt housewife. But when you think preacher, you tend to go male. So perhaps that's where the dissonance comes in? It doesn't help that our other resident preacher IS male.

Mrmorrises - I remember aaaaaages ago, I was looking at his Guestbook and I accidentally added him to my friends list. But I'm glad that we became friends. We don't talk much, but I enjoy seeing his posts and what he has to say.

CommanderGame - We only really became friends in early December I think, but before that I already sort of counted him as a friend!
