I actually like it. I won one from McDonald's Xbox One sweepstakes, and alread went out and bought a few games. Forze and Deadrising look amazing and can't wait to play it when I get it.

The thing you need to understand is that, to most sane people, one or two interesting games on a console is just as much as having no games. Literally the only exclusive game I REMOTELY want on Xbox One is Deadrising 3. Killer Instinct may be a good fighter (only mechanics wise - content wise, it's very outdated), but I have plenty of better ones, and Wii U is getting Smash Bros anyway. And I believe the next Tekken game will only show up on PS4, as the creator of Tekken claimed that if we want to know why future Tekken games don't show up on Xbox One, we should "ask Microsoft".

Just because you like a single game doesn't mean other people do as well. I've never even heard of Killer Instinct and I loathe fighting games. The person who said most people won't buy a console with only one or two games they want is also absolutely right. Unless you're just rolling in money, the XBone is not a reasonable gaming machine for most people.

The OP asked why we don't like the XBone and I said it how I see it. Good job ignoring every other valid point I made in favor of that one quibble, though. :D

Thanks for further validating my point about all the XBone fans I've met so far being d-bags, arceustheprime. :) You're not going to change anyone's mind about this system by speaking down to them in that manner and I was never trying to tell people who do like it not to, just answering the OP's question. None of my points are invalid to me. Blatantly telling someone they are wrong (especially when what they are saying is their opinion formed on their knowledge/experience and not yours) is how you lose any argument permanently. So I'll add you to the list of reasons I really, really, really never want an XBone (on top of the already long list of reasons I already had for having no interest). :D

Anyway, I've made my points and I'm not rehashing them, so peace out XBone fans and haters alike. Gonna go enjoy my PS3 and all these great Steam games I have. :)

Regardless of whether or not they apologised, they shouldn't have done that. It wasn't just an ad, it was an e-mail that was specifically sent out to many Microsoft customers. It's just not boding well for their already questionable image.

The problem with the Xbox One trying to cram so many entertainment packages into one system is that it's all money that could of been spent making it a better gaming machine. Not to mention that the focus on TV is redundant, as everyone has TV plans already, and even if they don't, you can view most programs on a computer from something like Netflix, or heck, even on Youtube.

And while I have no problem with extra media features on my gaming consoles, they shouldn't require the systems architecture be compromised in the way the Xbox One does. There was no need for them to implement a traditional broadcasting system into the Xbox One's architecture, as it is noticeably holding the system back. They could of just implemented an internet based system, via third party apps like Netflix. Heck, even the Xbox 360 did this, and as a result, Microsoft pushing all of this media malarky as innovative and new, fell flat on it's face.

and microsoft rushed it with game reading problems. Not worth anyone's money really.

I dont see much difference performance wise about it and the ps4. Most of the arguments here could have also been applied to the ps4 such as backwards compatibility and lack of games. Any new console is going to have a lack of games. I like the people who say its only focused on tv and entertainment though. It can play games AND do the other stuff. Bonus. Most of the hate comes from the price. It's $100 more than the ps4 due to the kinect being packaged with it. Which leads into the next problem people have with the paranoia of being spied on.

Yeah i own one. I really dont care if it is spying on me <.< not like im doing anything interesting. If i ever get paranoid its easy enough to unplug. Personally i find the whole debate silly -.- Get a system for the games you like, its what the system is there for. I like Xbox exclusives so i got an Xone. Second on my list is a Wii U cause of smash bros. Then if sony gets a series, other than god of war, that i enjoy i may consider getting a ps4.

I remember seeing people buying two three or four gaming consoles (Xbox specifically) and literally putting up with hardware failure. Not sure about you guys, but consumers should've sent a clear message to them that consumers expect more. If you reward companies for producing garbage, guess what you get? More of the same.

Clearly "a lot" is relative. The PS4 Eye is $100 which would be necessary if you want the voice/facial recognition that the XBox One has. $400 + $100 = $500. MS just made the Kinect mandatory since it's an integral part to their vision for the XBox One.

And before anyone says I'm a MS Fanboy or that I hate Sony I actually own both systems. My PS4 is still sitting in the box because there are no PS4 exclusives I was interested in playing at launch. Once Infamous: Second Son is released I'll pick it up and setup the PS4.

I never understood why people actually "hate" other systems and why there are such blatant fanboys. Choice is always good for consumers.

Just to clarify one point, I've got to admit that I'm not a fan of any of the next gen consoles. My newest console is my PC and I like it far more than anything that's come out since the PS3. None of the new systems are worth what's being asked for them in my book. There's a vague possibility that a Wii U might enter the apartment in years to come, but that's mostly because my roommates really like Zelda. I'm more excited to save $500 to buy a new bed frame than I am to even consider buying a new game console.

the biggest problem i have with xbox one (and ps4) is the fact that you need to pay a monthly fee... just to play the games you own :/ I would love to get killer instinct, but i won't pay a monthly fee just to play it.

Including the NES, SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PSX, N64, failed 90s video game consoles, Dreamcast, Gamecube, PS2, Xbox, 360, PS3, Wii, PS4, Xbone, WiiU, and PC master race (or at least the ones who constantly shove how "awesome" PC gaming is down our throats). I think the lone exception might be Valve, and there's only so much more Gaben and company can do to distract from the lack of Half-Life 3. <.<;

Also, note I said £100 - not $100. Also note that the PS4 is around $550 and the XBO is around $700 based on the UK price due to currency conversions. The £250-ish I spent on a PC would be around $400.

Which, if I lived in America, could buy me a PS4 - but I don't.

The only real exclusive on it I care about is Forza 5 and I just don't think $500 is worth one game.
I don't like the idea of Kinect potentially spying on me.
Kinect requires a room bigger than mine anyway.
I don't like having to pay for online multiplayer when I can get it for free elsewhere (hence why I haven't gotten a PS4 either).

Otherwise the XB1 seems like a perfectly capable console. I'm just not sold on it or any of the other new consoles.

That being said, I feel like some people who still really hate the XB1 are still bitter about the previous policies Microsoft were intending to push onto us. They screamed bloody murder when DRM and blocking used games were a thing on it, yet when Microsoft changed so many people continued to despise it and the company that made it as if "the damage has already been done".

If you're buying a prebuilt machine at Best Buy then yeah you're right.

But if you search around for deals online you can get the parts for a powerful rig for around the same price as a PS4/XB1.

Not to mention that value for money is more important than raw price. I may have paid €670 (it was supposed to cost €780 but I got a special discount thanks to my brother, so if you're looking for a rough idea of it's caliber, €780 is the price of the machine), which is more than what I would pay for an Xbox One or PS4. But I already have over 20 games on Steam (and I got all of them for a price that is less than a new PS4 or Xbox One game), mods for some games, a tool that will make my college work so much easier in the future (I couldn't run UDK on my old laptop), and basically any benefit a laptop would give someone. The extra money is well worth it.
