Hey everyone, not sure if this has been tackled yet, but would be great to have a condensed list of all your go-to places to find Skylanders figures!

We all know the Toys R Us, Target, Wal-Mart, Gamestop, Best Buys and on and on. There is also eBay and collectible retailers. But where else have you seen the Skylanders out in the wild?

For my part, I have _heard_ of (but not seen) them at Walgreens, Christmas Tree Shop, and even Big Lots. It would be great to gather some more places for folks to be on the lookout for them! Also, indicate what region of the US/Canada or elsewhere you are referencing. I will be happy to keep this thread up to date on the original post.

Standard Brick and Mortar Retailers (Many if not all of these have On-line storefronts as well):
-Toys R Us
-Best Buy
-Costco
-BJs Wholesale
-Meijer
-Target
-Wal-Mart
-Gamestop
-Barnes & Noble
-FYE
-Hastings (US, Central and Northwest)
-Kmart/Sears
-Shopko (US, North Central and Western)
-Office Max
-Sam's Club
-Kohls

Non-Standard Brick and Mortar Retailers:
-Big Lots
-Christmas Tree Shop
-Walgreens
-Ocean State Job Lot (US Northeast)
-Toys, Toys, Toys (Canada, Toronto Area)
-Shoppers Drug mart (Canada, Toronto Area)
-Hale Priced Books (US Central and Western Mostly)
-Entertainmart (US CO and TX)
-Movie Trading Company (US Central, mostly between IL and TX)
-Trade It (US NC)
-Pawn America (US North Central, Dakotas to WI)
-Play'N'Trade (US, Canada..Egypt and Panama too!)

On-line First Hand Retailers:
-Amazon
-New Egg

On-line Second Hand Retailers:
-Amazon
-New Egg
-eBay

I went to Walgreens when Swap Force was first released for their sale. Supposedly, all Swap Force figures were $10. Not only did they NOT have any of the SF figures, their Giants figures were marked up more than TRU. Yeah, you can find them there, but they are horribly over-priced.

Or so I have heard, yeah. I have yet to confirm any of those stores myself.

There are a couple of "overstock" stores around me (Connecticut); Big Lots and Ocean State Job Lot. I know a lot of name-brand stuff often finds its way to them, so it is a possibility I guess. Other places that have potential (again around me) are Benny's, CVS and Walgreens as I said, but their selection is sparse for electronics as it is, so they are sort of a wildcard.

Other options that I have heard about, but are not local to me, are h.h. gregg, Fry's and PC Richards & Sons. Other regional stores too like Meijer often have listings. Bookstore are another option, Barnes & Noble, Books a Million.

there is also a store here in canada in toronto called "toys toys toys" that sells them. (not sure if there are any other toys toys toys around). and Shoppers Drug Mart also sells them (and tends to have a decent supply)

Not sure if how widespread this store is, but I found quite a few at Hastings yesterday. They had some Scarlet Ninjinis and most SSA or SG items were 20-25% discounted.

Shopko is another good place to check out.

Sometimes figures are marked up a little, but they're often on "sale".

Jenkinson's Boardwalk at Point Pleasant, NJ had an amazing selection of figures as game prizes when Spyro's Adventure was out (Double Trouble, Cynder, and Legendary Trigger Happy were very rare at this time).

I won my Legendary Trigger Happy there, which makes him unique.

As of now, they're totally dry, except for a lonely Swarm with horribly beat-up packaging.

There's a company called "Trade It" here in North Carolina that sometimes has Skylanders. Similar to a Pawn Shop, but without pawning. Just buy & sell. Recently, I found an opened Boomer and Ghost Roaster (no Crypt; no items) for about $30 each. They seem to want Ebay prices for the harder to find figures. Even something like $15 for a used Dinorang (just about the time TRU announced they were going to have "exclusive" on him) and Sidekicks. Otherwise, I did grab a used Swarm for $5 for my kids. Thought about grabbing a GITD Cynder for a few dollars, but passed when I realized how filthy it was.

Some other stores I found some at:

Entertainmart
Movie Trading Company

Both are mostly second-hand electronic stores that sell ANY used Skylander they get in for $6. The Entertainmart I go to has a great selection. managed to find most of the Forgotten 8 there (including the entire Darklight Crypt set and Boomer).

I know Movie Trading Company has a few stores across nothern Texas, not sure about elsewhere. Entertainmart, I don't know if there is more than one of that store.

I also want to say, Big Lots is a waste of time in looking for pretty much anything electronic related. They only have a handful of lame games no one in their right mind would buy. The kind of games that you will find in the Clearence aisle in Walmart/Target and never leave said aisle.

I didn't think to mention I have found Skylanders at Kohl's. They're a bit more expensive, but sometimes you can find coupons or find them on sale that makes them regular price. Others, on here, have had no luck with Kohl's, but I found quite a few of them in the toy section. I picked up a couple hard to find ones at the time, including a S2 Bash in a 3-pack. Luckily, I had gotten my hands on some $10 off any purchase coupons, stacked them with a % off coupon and they were on sale. Ended up getting them really cheap. The $10 off coupons, though, are a bit hard to find. I used to get them in the mail, but since I've moved, I haven't gotten any. I think you have to sign up for their mailings, somehow.

All of the them were Spyro Adventure characters.

Chop Chop
Camo
Ignitor
Zook
Warnado

They were all 4.99 and the characters were in great physical shape. The salesman assured me that if they didn't work properly, they would refund my money as long as I had the receipt.

I haven't checked eBay for these characters, but you may be able to get them for a cheaper price. However, with shipping and handling charges, this seemed the way to go. Especially with return option.

I checked the Half-Price Books near me and they actually had a few Skylanders for $4.99, but nothing worth talking about. I did go to a used game store that's in the same shopping center that sells used Skylanders. They mostly have the same old stuff for $6.99, but I did find a couple of Swappers (Hoot Loop and Free Ranger) for $6.99. They also had a Dark Ninja Stealth Elf for $6.99. I guess someone got the Dark Pack and decided they didn't want another Stealth Elf, unless the others sold already. They had a Volcanic Eruptor, but it was packaged with the other two Skylanders that come in the 3DS pack and with a used PS3 copy, which was strange. Probably a case where they kept the 3DS game and sold the PS3 game with those figures. Not sure why, though. Either way, I didn't have any extra money to spend, especially when everything they had was pretty common (except for maybe Dark Ninja Stealth Elf if you can't afford the Dark Edition Starter). I figured if my son got some money for Christmas (which he usually does), that I might take him in there to pick out a Skylander or two, if they still have them. The only problem is that I doubt they have their codes, which I like having for the mobile games.

here's some USA retailers that carry Skylanders characters. Unfortunately, although it's possible to find a few random gems by scavenging stores like these, none of these stores are going to have the volume/selection on the shelves that you find at the "Big Five" retailers that you mentioned:

  • KMart / BigK
  • Walgreen's
  • Books-A-Million
  • BJ's
  • Sam's Club

I can vouch that those stores (above) do carry Skylanders.
I've also recently heard hunters say that these stores have small Skylanders displays, too:

  • OfficeMax
  • Costco
  • Kohl's

Quote:
I've seen Skylanders figures at OfficeMax. Same deal as Walgreens in that it's another source people don't seem to utilize.

Interesting. Thanks for the tip about OfficeMax.
The other day I was buzzing around town with my son shopping for the Skylanders, and I needed some office supplies anyways, so we dropped into a Staples just on the off-chance that they might have a random small Skylanders display. They did not.

This continues a very quirky trend with stores that carry Skylanders....
for example, Barnes & Noble doesn't carry Skylanders, but Books-A-Million does.
Walgreen's carries some Skylanders, but CVS and Rite-Aid do not.

And now, apparently OfficeMax has some Skylanders, but Staples doesn't.

I'm also fairly certain that during the discussions in those threads I cited, it came to our attention that Costco stores in the USA do not carry Skylanders, but Costco stores in Canada do carry Skylanders. I can't confirm that since I don't go to Costco, but that is what I remember from the discussions.

Also, certain major retail stores only carried Skylanders for the holiday shopping season in 2012. These include JCPenney's and Kohl's. These stores did not carry Skylanders throughout the bulk of 2013. I do not know if they have re-stocked for the 2013 holiday season or not, just because I haven't been in those stores this month.

With regard to Kroger, only SOME Kroger-owned locations stock Skylanders. For example, I know Kroger recently purchased the popular "Harris Teeter" grocery stores chain in North Carolina, but Harris Teeter stores are not stocking Skylanders.

With regard to Big Lots! ... your chances of finding Skylanders there are totally hit-or-miss, and I suspect you'd end-up doing a lot more missing than hitting by shopping there for Skylanders. It is possible though.

Also, many (even most) of the stores highlighted in this thread have a VERY small in-store supply/stock of Skylanders. OfficeMax, Walgreen's, and Books-a-Million all fall in this category. You could find what you're looking for there, but the chances are very small, simply because they don't stock a lot and don't re-stock often.

Lastly, I don't know why Barnes & Noble Bookstores made the list in the OP of this thread. They don't sell Skylanders (unless they started doing so VERY recently).

This is very possible. OfficeMax and Office Depot recently merged, and OfficeMax has been a known minor seller for Skylanders for a while now. Perhaps Office Depot gets some of their mutual stock now, too.

I wanted to feel you guys in on a new place that I found that sells used Skylanders.

Disc Replay
http://www.discreplay.com/

It is basically a used store for games, movies, CDs, etc. However, mine has a huge glass case full of Skylanders. I would guess they probably had around 150-200 used Skylanders just sitting there waiting to be purchased. The kick is... they sell all Skylanders at $6.99. A few Skylanders you can get on eBay a lot cheaper than that. However, they had both Bash and Boomer there for $6.99. I talked to the lady at the counter and she said that yesterday.... YESTERDAY... they sold a Ghost Roaster for $6.99. It was nauseating to hear that. I will be checking back every other day to see if someone brings in Ghost Roaster for trade or sell.

If you have a Disc Replay in your area, you better check it out! You may be able to complete your collection at a low price of $6.99.

EDIT: They did have variants in the case too. Those are NOT priced at $6.99.

Next time you go there, can you take a few pictures?

Yes, I plan on going back sometime this week to see if they have another Ghost Roaster in. I will get some pictures then and post them.

During the holiday season of 2012 the local Kroger's here in Texas had a huge section of Giants. I don't shop there much so I haven't even looked since then. The only reason I knew in the first place was because they were advertised.
