When people think of getting Skylanders at stores, they always think of the same 5 (Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, GameStop, Best Buy) but what are some other good places? My Kohls has a few in the Kids section but more than 9.99 and poor selection.

Variants of this same topic have come up several times here during the past few days.
Perhaps the moderator team could/should compile and sticky?

Anyway, here's some USA retailers that carry Skylanders characters. Unfortunately, although it's possible to find a few random gems by scavenging stores like these, none of these stores are going to have the volume/selection on the shelves that you find at the "Big Five" retailers that you mentioned:

KMart / BigK
Walgreen's
Books-A-Million
BJ's
Sam's Club

I can vouch that those stores (above) do carry Skylanders.
I've also recently heard hunters say that these stores have small Skylanders displays, too:

Kohl's

I can confirm that Costco carries Skylanders.Their display isn't small at all, it's almost as big as TRU's.

They have quite a lot of Scorpion Strikers And Wave 3 Giants.

I can vouch for BJ's also. Mine has a quite large display that has been packed with EB/TB for quite a while.

Your local gaming stores maybe a shot to find some also. I found a store in the Des Moines, Iowa area that sells lightcores at 9.99.
