Is anyone else having issues with characters loosing all their stats / gold / upgrades? I have lost 2 characters now, both times between levels. One second they are level 15-20, next level they are reset to level 1 with no money or upgrades. This has heppened both times with series 1 characters. I also play on the notorious Wii version.... Very frustrating to say the least as it makes me hesitant to use any of my powerful figures.

Actually, the more I think about this the more upset I am becoming. I dealt with the Swap Force freezing, but that only affected the one game. This erasing of character stats effects all 3 games as the figures are erased no matter what version you play. This is getting ridiculous. There have been so many bugs and issues with this game it has completely killed my joy in collecting the figures. I have over 130 figures and all 3 games, but this may be it for me. What a pile of crap product.

I don't disagree with your assessment. Maybe they're creating a market for a backup/restore product like what Pyrofer is working on. Seriously though... I've heard issues with portal master rank star loss as well as character "wipes" such as this across multiple platforms. In my mind, this is even nastier than the Wii freezing (which I do think they have fixed, to their credit). The previous threads where I heard legacy characters being wiped was when they are first introduced into Swap force. I'm very curious WHERE in the game where you are introducing characters to see if we can find a rhyme or reason. I suspect when I start playing this I'm literally not going to be playing the game but trying to find out what's causing this. Luckily I'll be able to restore my figures if they get zapped. Has anyone called Activision Support to be officially ignored with a no-response? Question---does the wipes occur only on "legacy" figures being introduced in the game or does this occur on the new figures? Also, for everyone's tracking---platform? Just Wii?

Funny you mention that. Both my characters who reset themselves also kept their hats.....

So this is happening on swap force characters? I thought it was only related to green and orange base characters...

If it helps, I always go back to the main menu of the game before exiting and haven't had a reset... Yet...

AoA...is there some truth that not going to the main menu might be the cause of the resets? I'm also wondering if it matters WHERE you introduce a character in the game ... Interesting theory...

I wonder if it has to do with something interfering with communication with the portal when it is saving to the character. Probably wouldn't hurt to make sure the cord is stretched out and not coiled and there's nothing metal near it. I don't exactly know how those things affect it, but I know the instructions mention the metal thing at least. If you are using a USB extension try taking that off, it could be faulty or the cord could be too long. Or the portal is just bad? I don't know, but it seems like this isn't a system specific problem and those that have the problem tend to have the issuewith more than one character. So to me it that sounds like the portal getting messed up when it's writing to the character.

Well, I've had times where I removed a character from the Portal, and put then back on, and they lost some Gold that they earned while I was playing them before(they won't lose Gold "saved" to them from a previous session- but if I collect Gold, the new Gold collected may end up removed from their total if I take them off the Portal). I'm playing the XBox 360 version, PAL edition, on the pudgy white console with horrible fan placement.
Also, I've read a couple of times that the figures don't update real-time in SF- don't know if it's true, but that could be related to these issues. And it seems really likely, I hear people keep refreshing their Skylanders by putting hats on them, because otherwise they could lose things they collected before the figure gets "refreshed". I think going to the main menu may force the character to save, since [IIRC] it saves the game and I believe when the game is saving the figure is always refreshed as well, which would bypass this. If you aren't already, try exiting to the game's main menu (don't take your toy off while it loads!) before ending a game session... I don't guarantee anything- this is largely speculation based on unconfirmed info- but based on scraps of info about how toys really work in SF, it seems like it would force the figure to get all progress refreshed onto it, which could stop this issue depending on what is causing it. I don't know. Might help. Also, if anyone still runs into the reset issue when doing this trick, please post about it. Another thing: none of my Skylanders are wearing hats- considering that the hat stays there after everything else on the figure gets reset, maybe that has something to do with it? Which hats were you guys using, also? (I really doubt that theory, though, 'cause hats are really popular and I think if certain hats caused problems, then we would see more reports about this.) Question for people with resetting toys: when does this reset happen? Randomly during gameplay, or if you stop playing with a Skylander and place them back on? It could be what wombatandchips said- faulty Portals... Remember in Giants many of the GITD Portals had problems with updating character info. You guys should also attempt to get a replacement Portal, and see wether the issue persists with another Portal.

If the figure updates don't occur to near real time, that's a fatal strategy since it can be removed from the portal at any time...
AoA...I'll experiment with your suggestions when the game goes live in my house...also good questions, hope we get some responses...
