Does anyone feel certain characters got better or worse in Swap Force? Then leave a comment on how the older characters feel in Swap Force like how I've been using characters from Spyro's Adventure who don't have any new figures with the exception of . Anyways here are my findings for the ones I've been using
is so much better in Swap Force because his glitches were finally fixed. He no longer hits only one enemyat a time with his skull charge and his grave circumstances quest I was able to complete without resetting him. My only complaint with him is that now his skull charge doesn't last as long as before.
he got a little bit weaker because his combos aren't used as easily and his zip-line axe still doesn't go that far.
his troll bombs seem to roll around as opposed to sitting still, but his troll clobber seems stronger since it has better knock back. The dynamite are still the same for the most part.
was the most disappointing of the four I've used now. His standard combo doesn't lunge him forward as far as the older games and his spinning mace doesn't continue if you hold the button. The Poseidon strike doesn't last as long and he seems slower than ever.
What do you think of some of the older ones in this game?

Dino-Rang was great back in Spyro's Adventure and Giants. But in Swap Force, he has gotten a little weaker with his attacks.

Honestly...
Every.Single.Character.I've.Tried.Sucks.Now. Anytime I play an older character, they are slower, they attack slower, they don't seem to hit as hard, etc. It just doesn't work at all for me playing as any of the old characters. Drobot gets rotation due to the inf money trick. Thumpback is my "I need a giant to open this" figure. Even for speedruns, they feel sooooooo much slower. I've tried all my old fast characters. and they just aren't fast anymore. Characters like Wrecking Ball attack so slow now...and it stands out because he wasn't fast to begin with. - Unreall |

Boomer just looks.. horrible. They gave him the idiotic "lazy eye", even though he isn't that crazy.
His attacks are still very fun. Dino-Rang looks awesome, and is equally fun. Slam Bam is terrifyingly bad, and L-Bam is WORSE. Eye Brawl looks great. Ninjini looks much better. Shiny clothes, detailed hair, etc.

At least between SSA and SG, the nerfing effect was limited because of shared heroics. Now that heroics mean nothing, there's nothing to "bring them back" to equality of the previous games. Add to that some of the inappropriate effects they've applied to some of their attacks and you have unhappy portal masters. This all flies in the face to what VV told skylanderboyandgirl during an interview when this was specifically brought up. I personally felt misled. Spending all of the time to make sure previous characters work in a new game means nothing if they don't "get" what we're saying here.

I think they mainly wanted to focus on the new guys. They don't want many people getting the game, steamrolling it with characters they already have powered up then walking away and calling it done. That's the problem with allowing old figures, they are already really powerful, and if you want my opinion, Skylanders has always allowed the characters to get way too powerful. You shouldn't be able to roll through with a powered up figure, you should still need to use a little thought, particularly above Easy difficulty. And in the hardest mode, you should need a fully powered up figure to even have a chance at surviving. No character should ever feel like "easy mode" when fully powered up, and even then when a new game comes out they shouldn't allow you to blow through it.

Actually, not quite. In my opinion, when we've spent a couple of hours to max out a figurine, we have a right to at least keep all the effort visible on it. As people states, the old characters seems so out and weak at the moment in comparison to how did they've worked out in the previous games. If Acti really wanted people to focus on new characters only, they've made huge mistake. Mostly because it were the old ones, who kept fans around the game. In Giants it worked great, because you could still play the game with unleveled figurine, but if you just wanted to rush through the levels on other hand, you could use the maxed up char. That was one of the interesting things on Skylanders - semi RPG idea, where you could increase ranks and add extra stats to yours characters. Now they just have two different paths and chance of increasing HP gauge. And that's it? Bad move... |

I've noticed it with Stealth Elf *yeah of course*
she was my go to skylander... but now her combo's are HORRIBLE TO USE! I don't use Stealth Elf that much anymore, her shadowsbane blades are less then good... the only good thing is the normal-basic-first attack, with is boring the crap out of me! not only that HER EYES STILL DON'T BLINK! conclusion: I'm done with it, Stealth Elf is no longer a great skylander, for me its the "Oh, I need a life Skylander and the otthers are too far away" Skylander *picks up Zou Lou and says its the new best life* |

I have noticed your same concerns regarding Whammer but to be honest the length of time you could hold down Pos. Strike was broken. I do GREATLY miss the lunge for the spinning mace combo. That change made me sad. I still can't wait for L.C. Whammer. I do with he was getting a series 2 but a glowy version will be cool. Warnado I feel got better. It seems like he does more damage now...It could be me though.

I think a lot of characters I tried got a few great buffs. Power-wise, I think most of them are fine. I don't mind them nerfing the characters that were ridiculously powerful and steamrolled everything anyway.
What gets to me is the low speed. They are all soooo SLOW. Even with 100% completed Heroics. And there a are a few changes I don't like, just make the characters more boring:
In a more positive light, I think Frozen Fury Chill's buffs make her a more well-balanced character. Same with EoTS Warnado. Barrier Boost Shroomboom is also on the right track with the boosts he's been given(though as I mentioned, his speed is worse). And I didn't try Eruptor that much but I'm glad that they gave his attacks besides the Eruption damage boosts. Graphically, all the Slam Bams (WAY TOO FLUFFY) as well as Pop Fizz (eyes are too correctly proportioned, small, not goofy looking) got downgraded graphically. As well as Wrecking Ball. He's just not cute with those pupils so small. He got the same thing as Pop Fizz... They made his eyes too "normal". Wrecking Ball is meant to be cute and they screwed it up. Most others are better for the most part though. IGNITOR (Legendary, in particular) looks FREAKING EPIC now.

The HCs not counting really takes the game down a notch in my book. By doing that they've relegated the physical figure to basically just store the hat and level info. So when you take your Countdown over to your friends house, your Countdown will basically be the same as his with only the hat and health level differing them. So basically all the stats that changed with HCs are locked into your saved game and don't come with you. It really cheapens the original experience/bond with "your" Skylander.
I was looking forward to getting the XBO version when we get the new console, but since we've beaten the game already and there isn't much to play for afterward, I am thinking I'd rather spend my money on something else.

I know it's kind of been answered but since I don't actually have the game yet I just want to ask. Do heroics actually carry over? So let's say I have one spyro that is fully maxed out with all 50 heroics on it, and another spyro that is maxed out but with 0 heroics on it. Will there be a noticeable difference stats wise between the 2 spyros in swap force?

For the Skylanders Giants figures I played in Swap Force I would like to discuss, here is the following:
1) Spyro (S2) - His flying is a bit slower, but his super-charged Flameball is much stronger than before, and his Fireslam is super powerful that could deliver 135 percent damage. That's why I kept him in his packaging. He seems way cooler than his Series 3 version, Mega Ram Spyro. 2) Drobot (S2) - He's about the same as usual. 3) Cynder (S2) - Her flying is still as good as before and her Lightning Rain isn't as louder as back in Giants, but still effective. Also, in Swap Force like back in Spyro's Adventure, she cannot get hurt by enemy attacks while performing the Shadow Dash. 4) Fright Rider - They don't appear to be as fast as they were back in Giants, or as strong. 5) Whirlwind (S2) - Her flying has become much less mobile in changing directions and a little slower. Her horn doesn't glow in many colors of the rainbow anymore despite having her Wow Pow purchased. But her Rainbow Singularity has gotten a little bit stronger and actually does damage after it collapsed. 6) Zap (S2) - His attacks aren't anywhere near as good as he was back in Giants. I was able to electrify the sea slime with his lightning breath, but I had to be sure that I actually hit the watery ooze before trying to avoid enemies. His Wow Pow doesn't appear to be able to wipe out as many surrounding enemies much before. The watery wave attack seems much smaller. 7) Legendary Slam Bam - Other than the fact that he looks even better in Swap Force, he attacks much slower than back in Giants and his Ice Prisons are almost inaccurate in range. His Blizzard Brawler attacks are needed to deliver damage at an even closer range. |

I played with my Legendary and she still feels like a Ninja to me. She dashes a lot, and keeping the dash button while using the joystick makes her super fast. Dashing while stabbing makes it really easy in close combat. I don't feel like she has been nerfed at all. I'm using her blade path. |

I think this was all from the design decision to NOT bring back heroic challenges.
Without challenges to add to the new skylanders stats, they would have all been weaker than your old toys that were potentially upgraded in the old games. So they decided to reset all of the old skylanders stats to back where they started (or at least nearly where they started) This has ruined a lot of the old characters for me. For example, in GIANTS, If I thought Shroomboom was too slow, I was able to do a bunch of challenges and speed him up. Now, there is no way to do that.

It seems the general trend is that the "new" guys have broken skills to make folks WANT them. As the character matures (ie S2 S3 etc) they "fix" the broken aspect and add totally useless add-on moves to "attempt" to keep interest in the character. Quote: Unreallystic
I think the better answer here is that some people don't care, and some really do--to the point of being upset. And some people are somewhere in the middle of this continuum.

I'm honestly in the middle, but I'm speaking as a guy with enough income that I buy a new figure when I see it and don't have to 'haggle it out' if I'm going to get it.
On one hand the new characters are fun/good so I don't feel as though I'm missing out anything. On the other hand, I feel like my other characters serve no purpose. When I played Giants, I used all the SSA characters as well - except Ghost Roaster cause he felt soooo nerfed to me. With this one? The only Series 1/2 characters that get PT are the ones for opening Giant boxes or doing the money trick, they don't actually 'play'. Even reposes like Stealth Elf and Dark Spyro just sit there. So I'm irritated, but in that same vein, it doesn't really affect me. BUT I know that if I was a kid who needed allowance or was working a 'high school' type job, then I would be a bit more sour that the figures that I've saved up for aren't doing anything. For all intents and purposes I could have put up my entire SSA & SG collection on eBay to pay for the SSF collection. The REAL question though, is this a product of the updated engine, or is this going to be commonplace moving forward, where in the next installment, we only load up Swap characters for a 'pay wall'... - Unreall |
