I know EXACTLY how to do this, though it would be rather expensive in materials. I've done part of the process before to make chocolate moulds. (Our family has a tradition of giving chocolate letters at Christmas, but they're getting hard to find, but I found some suitable letters in wood, so I made a chocolate mould out of one). All it would take is pouring a different substance into the mould instead of chocolate, one that cures into clear plastic. What I had to do is easier, if you have one side which is just flat and doesn't need to be recreated, but I read about how to do a full item.

I highly doubt a variant re-release. Doubtful we will ever see this. On top of that, whenever Walmart had those restocks of SSA figures not too long ago, Whirlwind flooded the shelves. Makes me laugh at all those who paid over $100 back when she first came out with SSA.

Well that's the third one now that exists, so either they suddenly decided to do *more* variants for the original series or this is going to land up a lot more common.

DONE!!! done done done... if they're just gonna start reprinting new chase variants for old games like SSA and Giants, I'm not even gonna try to collect all those chase variants anymore.... that was the only thing left I was still putting money into for the Skylanders series cuz I enjoyed collecting them, but I'm just gonna completely stop now... hell i'm going to even consider putting some of my chase variants on eBay now since they've sucked all the collector's fun out of it and the Holiday season is coming up... smh

This variant is a recent manufacture though...I consider this a retro variant. With them doing this who's not to say they dont do it for later games? Yet another good reason not to chase them all.

Agreed..i don't care when....i just want to know IF its going to be released to some store.

Chris at TFB does not answer those type of questions, like they said earlier, he verifies if the character in question is legit or not. As for where/when/if they hit the stores is a question he does not answer. Either because Activision has not decided the answer, or he is not allowed to give out that info. Plus this could be against an agreement by TFB and Frito Lay, knowing that it would be out in the future would give Frito Lay less profit. Collectors would hold off until they find it in stores and then Frito would not get all the attention for the promotion.

ehhh you got a point there dinoah...its just frustrating ...i still haven't won one....i know, its still early just keep try'in.

-Box is completely brand new, hasn't been resealed. Has 2011 copyright date...do the current SSA toys still share that?
-Doesn't show up as "Special" or anything, but does have level 5 & 2100 gold.
-Really a very beautiful piece, just wish we knew how rare she was exactly...

Just to revive this dead topic: By the looks of it, Series 1 Whirlwind is being restocked, so there's a minuscule chance that this will appear.

My Walmart had a spot on the End-Cap shelf with 20 Whirlwinds (S1) and had its on Price Tag, but no crystal. I must have missed that boat, for them to have so many, I would say they got in at least 1 crystal. It may have not even hit the shelves, an employee could have snagged it.

It was in a starter box - together with a standard Hex and Zook. Actually these are my first Skylanders and I was close to opening the box, but my girlfriend said that the figure looks different than on the backside. So I checked out and found your forums.

The box says Copyright 2011 btw, so I actually cannot say if this is a new release or I just was lucky.

It did not have its own description (it was just stated in the offer for the other product), and it was not italian (but from Germany). But the package of the starter box looks like that.

I bought sth. completely different on Amazon, and received the starter pack for free. The crystal whirlewind was part of the pack - the other two were Hex and Zook (both standard).

Never seen that starter pack.
The SSA Starter comes normally with Spyro, Gill grunt and Trigger Happy.
The 3 you got has never been in a Starter Pack (SSA, Giants or SF).

My box actually looks a bit different than the one which was posted in the thread (in the link posted by DAWNOFWAR). The one in the amzon-link seems to have see-through parts and it is stated which characters are included. Mine was a cardbox and it just says that there are three skylanders included, but the ones printed on the box are completely different figures. The box is copyright 2013, so it is different to the three skylanders which are c2011.
