Upgrade Path Recommendation Thread (Swap Force edition) [CLOSED]

I didn't see a thread like this on the first couple pages, so I figured that it would be a good idea to make this thread. Right now I'm going to focus on the new core Skylanders and the Swap Force Skylanders, but I'll make room for the returning skylanders, and will consider all recommendations made for them.

I'm going to list the halves of the Swap Force skylanders as well as their Path names, and I'll update the list with the number of recommendations that you guys make, as well as the reasons you give. The format of the chart will be as follows (this is just an example):
Ignitor
  • Soul of the Flame (3):
  • The increased damage and number of mortars make this path incredibly powerful in short range, and you can herd your opponents towards your body more effectively with the flame soul.
  • Blademaster (0):

I'm working from the Wiki right now and don't have my game running, so I don't have all of the path names. Any help would be appreciated.

I will do this many, and that's it. Not that I don't want to share info, but I am going to be busy the better part of the day. Plus, that's a really long post. To really see the upgrades, you will have to save those pics to your harddrive. These were taken with a 16 megapixel camera.

I can, however, try and answer more questions.

I couldn't help with those images. I can read the path names though, that's about it. I can't recommend, however.

No, did you read my instructions? Click the little magnifying glass to the lower right corner, then click it again on the pop up. The resulting images (for some of them, anyway), are quite readable.

As I said, I can only get it to that size. And for me there is only a magnifying glass in the top right corner, which is what gets it to that size.

What paths are best for Grilla Drilla? I am so conflicted.
[All opinions are appreciated besides Bash28's because I already know his opinion due to him being my brother. Haha")]

Grilla:
Double drill punch upgrade has great damage but you need to press attack 1 three times to activate it (kinda slow) and he will be rooted while drilling. Damage went up from 42 per punch and 21 per drill tick to 48 and 28.
Monkey path increases the damage from 2 monkeys x 19 damage to 4 monkeys x 26 damage. I prefer the monkey path because it's easier to use and safer.

But the bananas should shoot much faster than the coconuts.

But the damage is so weak the coconuts are better there not that much slower and you hit groups instead of singles so I prefer that path I tried bananas and didn't like it.

Well one things for sure smilie's bottom path must be Underbat! I just saw another video of Wdrumz and it turns out it's even more unfair than before. Not only does that path allow anyone who has Shift as the bottom get two extra lives, but in PVP once the user loses all two extra lives and then an actual life, the extra lives come back again for use! So basically if you play 3 lives with the Skylanders in PVP, you have to beat the Swapper with Shift NINE times to defeat him. That is so flipping cheap and I own the character!

Any advice on which path to take for the top half of Boom Jet? If anyone has tried both paths and has a favorite I'd be grateful for any advice they can give. Have to say I'm thinking of upgrading the air strike attack, but the bombs might be the best way. Just not sure what way to go.

#26 Posted: 18:02:43 24/10/2013
Taken from the other thread:

Quote: xatria

Boom Jet
Boom
Air strike path upgrades from 44 damage to 52 + bomb 20.. decent but it's not spamable. The storm bomb path does not upgrade the super football bomb damage (40) but spawns decent size cloud that deals 10 damage for 19-20 ticks which is nice if the enemies stay within the cloud. The cloud will not spawn unless charged though.
Either way, both aren't that great really. I think Boom is one of the weaker top part because his abilities aren't spamable.

Jet
Rocket path upgrades the propeller from 3x15 damage medium range to 2x24 long range. It's just OK. The cloud path is even weaker.. it spawns cloud trail that deals 12 damage for only like 2-3 ticks before disappear. With soul gem upgrade, the dash deals 150 damage which is nice but overall it's still pretty weak I think.

Although I do end up with Storm Bomb path for his top and Rocket path for his bottom.
Storm Bomb is nice for arenas which has small enclosed space.

Edit: the rockets upgrade has very long range and can hit enemies on higher ground.

I've been trying to find a video or impression of Blast Zone on the path that making a circle with the flame breath makes an explosion path, but I can't find anything, has anyone tried that path, if so how is it?

I haven't tried either path yet but I'm planning to take the Soul body one. Seems better to me
Also, has anyone tried both of Pop Thorns paths yet? I am wondering which path is best for him, also how much damage does his roll attack on the top upgrade path do (Tough and Puffed path)?

I took the Grim Creeper path that involves throwing his weapon for longer. I haven't tried the other path yet, so this isn't so much a comment stating I like one path over the other. I can only defend the current path that he is on as not being bad. I can say that I enjoy being able to throw his weapon (which I don't call by name for fear of misspelling it) and hitting enemies at a distance for a longer period. You also have the ability to rotate around to hit other enemies that may be behind him. I can't totally remember his other upgrades but, if I recall correctly, the biggest selling feature for me was the increased critical hit ratio. I do use the throwing attack a great deal.

Roller Brawl's TOP path is ridiculously amazing! That Bull Rush charge is INSANE. Think Series 2 chop chop on the Undead Defender path but much faster and Spamable, You never have to stop rushing! It's so OP.
