(I'm a little new here so please tell me if I make a mistake from the rules etc.) So I REALLY want the Swap Force Dark Edition Pack from Gamestop, but my parents said not until my Birthday(April) and I was wondering does anyone have information on the Dark Edition Pack availability? Like will the Dark Editioin be sold in Gamestop for the whole year like the other packs or will it only last for a few weeks? (Btw, I don't celebrate Christmas and Thankgiving, so those get rid of those options. Thanks! P.S. I am trying to avoid ebay because most of the packs are selling for more than it is cost.

I'd guess it would be available about as long as the glow in the dark cynder giants starter packs were available. So probably not long after Black Friday.

Many of GITD Cynder packs are still sitting on the shelf of my local Walmart.

Mine too.

I don't know because I asked in my local GAME (I'm in the UK) and they said that they will only get them in for the launch of the game and they will probably go straight away. I'm not sure how reliable this info is, but my GAME has employees who generally know what they're talking about. Although, the GiTD Cynder pack was available all year so really, who knows?

I don't think the Dark Edition was produced in the quantities that the GITD Cynder starter packs were, if for no other reason than Gamestop doesn't have nearly the size and distribution that Wal-Mart does. I expect most Dark Editions to be snatched up by Christmas time.

The dark edtions were made for preorder, there may be a few canceled/over ordered items left or a manger might have requested a few extras he knew he could sell. If you want it, i suggest you find a way asap.

I heard it was a limited edition but I could be wrong. Hard to say how long that edition will be available. You're VERY lucky if it does stick around till April. You're in better luck if they said Christmas.

The Dark Editions at my local GS were for pre-order. All of the gaming systems, they only had 2 extra for the Wii...nothing else.

Dino-Bang, are there any good sales going on right now where you are? You could always tell your parents it will be much cheaper to buy it now even if they have to hold on to it until April.

At my EBGames, the seller told me that they were only for pre-order and that they won't have extras after.

I called 3 different stores in my area (Dallas) on release date...Only Funcoland/Gamestop had 1 PS3 Dark and 3 Xbox..all others only had the reserved orders. It was my fault in the first place for not reserving.

I'm guessing that the chances of being around in April are going to be really low. When I bought mine, one employee asked if I wanted the Warranty in case of disc damage to which I said ok. The manager said that the chances of actually getting a replacement were really low and that they couldn't guarantee it at all. Based on that, its a risk.

He should try to see if his parents will buy it now and give it to him on his birthday. There is no guarantee that Dark Edition, since it's an exclusive, will be available come April.

If I buy a ps3 dark pack for a friend in norway...is the game the same as if he purchased.one there?

The Dark Starter REALLY feels like the kind of thing that will go away. Like Granite/Jade with Target, Molten for Walmart, etc. I don't think it will be gone immediately, like pre-order-only, but I suspect they'll be gone wthin a month, MAYBE extended to Black Friday for that sale.

And you say you don't celebrate Christmas (mentioning Thanksgiving in that way is weird, who exchanges gifts for Thanksgiving???), but it seems like everybody everywhere celebrates SOMETHING at that time of year... Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, among others...

I would suggest they get it NOW, and if it's that important they should just keep it until April. (That timing REALLY doesn't work, sounds like they're trying too hard to force it to work out).

Well, that's a good question. The biggest difference is the video standard - which was extended to DVDs with their regions - and the electrical standards, but chances are both are dealt with by the console itself, so I would think the game is the same as over here, that it'll work fine...

In this thread on Gamespot, people are agreed that PS3 games don't have regions like DVDs, so it should work.

I would be surprised to see any more of them but given that it seemed to sell well, they would be smart to make at least one more batch. I wouldn't bet on it. I'd think they'd be more interested in producing the core characters that will appear on the shelves of all stores than doing another run of a Gamestop exclusive.

So I asked my parents AGAIN, and the same answer, April. I tried to convince them by using the $10 off coupon but they said no. I even tried to ask to at least get the regular starter pack for $50 for the discounts and etc. from TRU but again, no. And to the holiday thing, there is infact a holiday that happened this Tuesday (its called Eid btw) and you get presents and etc from cousins and your parents but the same answer, no. They said I have to many skylanders so they are not going to get another skylander game.

Dino-Bang I think your only other option might just be to try to raise the money yourself. I don't know your age, but see if there's any odd jobs you can do around the house, neighbors, family, etc.

I try to make my son earn things more than just giving them to him. My dad was the same way.

Other option, though painful, might be to try to trade/sell existing items to raise money.

Hopfully they will do what they did for Gnarly Tree Rex and release a single pack of Limited Edition Swash Buckler...because there are those out there that already have a Wii U and don't need to buy another one, or have another system (Wii, Xbox, PS3) and don't want another console.

Edit: Thinking the Swash Buckler Console Bundle will be a different color... im not sure about you, but i didn't like the Sky Blue Wii...since it had a Gnarly Tree Rex in it...it should have been Dark Green not Sky Blue...(ahhh.... Life Skylander Console Bundle..duh! )

I recommend you make an offer with your parents. Ask them to buy the dark edition early, but you open it on your birthday or on the holidays!
if they say no, find a compromise, maybe the gift counts as both your birthday and Christmas present? Because this is a special edition pre-order package. Gnarly tree rex and dark spyro were sold as singles, but you really think they will sell all five exclusives?

I had an awful time getting the dark edition starter pack for the wiiU. When I finally decided I wanted my preorder from GameStop, they were unable to process my request. They said I could get it for any other gaming console, just not the wiiU. They could confirm one preorder and a second one enroute. Thankfully, they held it for me, and even gave me the lightcore hex. That was really nice, considering my purchase was technically not a preorder. The dark edition swap force guys really are sharp. I don't regret buying it at all.

At this point in all seriousness,

I would recommend you get your parents to guarentee you the dark edition in writting.
And get it notorized with a witness.

Why?
By the time April rolls around, the only way you will be able to score the pack will be ebay.
And of course they will NOT be able to get it for a decent price.
And, you will have been right in that they should have gotten it cheaper now.

So,
Get them to write out a contract/statement saying you are GUARENTEED the dark edition come April.

Again, OP, make a deal. ask them to buy it for you now and just not have a birthday or christmas present. and when the time DOES come around, dont ask for anything, stick to your word so they will be happy to make future compromises with you.

I saw the ad and only the Wii version of the Dark Edition will be on sale for $79.99. Since the Wii version has so many issues/problems, maybe they're trying to get rid of the excess stock on them. I doubt the PS3 and XBox versions will be on sale.

If you look at the ad, there's a semi-clear image of a Metallic Green Wash Buckler on the front of the package.

No offense kid but it sounds like they don't want to buy it at all. Especially if they said you had enough skylanders and weren't gonna buy another game.

Oh, I looked at it, that just doesn't look like it's green or metallic to me. I haven't been able to find any other source saying that there's any sort of special Washbuckler in that set and since the image looks more black and white to me than anything (indicating a Dark Washbuckler), I'm curious as to the source regarding this being a different variant.

You can tell them that there are Dads on this website that are saying if you want a Starter Pack now is the time because they will more than likely be sold out by that time frame. It sounds like though they are fighting for you to get another game because of cost---sorry can't help you with that one. It IS an expensive franchise to be in.

Tell your parents that this is a LIMITED TIME thing, that there is no way it will still be available (in stores) by April. Request that they buy it now and if they like they can keep it to give to you for your birthday ON your birthday, but that it is widely agreed (by a group of people which includes adults and parents) that it won't be available to buy in April, except at eBay prices which will likely be a lot higher.

Basically, they can buy it now for $100 or then for $200, and it wouldn't be fair to count it as "we gave you a $200 present" when it's their own fault.

Let them read this thread if they still have doubts.

It is not necessarily them not realizing the limited nature of the Dark Starter. A lot of us are fortunate enough to buy Skylanders as they become available, but his parents might not be able to do that - and encouraging him to press them on it isn't helping. I know I certainly wouldn't like it if a bunch of Internet people were telling my son to pressure me to buy something because ZOMG IT IS SPECIAL AND WILL SELL OUT. They might be looking to be able to pick the game up more cheaply next year.

I'm sure he has brought up the limited nature of this pack to them. They probably have more important priorities right now.

I'm not trying to pressure anyone--I was taking it at face value it's not money related but I'm aligned that if it is indeed money situation "dems the breaks" applies.

My assumption is that he needed help communicating the "limited" nature of the situation, but reading between the lines it sounds like parents are done spending money on this stuff. Time to get a job!

I know that...did you not read what i typed? ....i said the same gold paint was used. And that website i read about it,(don't feel like looking for it ...i looked at a lot of different sites that day...was my day off from work)they saw it up close...its gold.
