Hey everyone,
I was wondering if you guys wouldn't mind providing recommendations for the best Skylander to get through all of the levels as quickly as possible.
- Any character from the 3 games.
- Combinations of Swap Force characters.
Thanks!

I've been doing pretty good with Ghost Roaster. The game is a lot gentler on enemy gates than preceding titles, so if you have an ability that lets you charge forward you bypass a lot of grief.
Bosses are different: you'll need something that can dish damage out quickly, and it doesn't like showing you the lifebar. Given the arenas are usually quite small, you can focus on the boss and doing what you need to with them. |

I actually haven't opened or played my copy of Swap Force yet but in Giants I used Stealth Elf, Cynder and Swarm (if I needed a Giant) for speed runs. I don't know if they're the best but I like to use 'em personally. I'd figure anyone with a fast traveling-like attack would be good.

I'll give him a go. Thanks for the recommendation. Based on what you said about bosses, how should I go on that route? Usually Double Trouble is my go to for quick wins, but I'm down to give anyone a try.

I use Stealth Elf to destroy bosses. I've managed to max her out back while playing Giants. She does a lot of combos which adds up to massive damage. Plus she's got that Stealthier Decoy ability which creates a doppelganger and distracts enemies so that you could breathe and get a free combo while the enemy is focused on the decoy. I'd recommend trying her out.

Suprised to say that I recommend Spyro or Sonic boom or, if you'd like: Whirlwind....they all can fly, and are pretty strong
sonic boom can just fly around screaming while the babies are out too... but yeah, who doesnt agree with Stealth Elf......? |

Series 2 Flameslinger was the fastest in Giants, but his speed has been nerfed down in Swap Force. Roller Brawl upgraded in the top path is the fastest Skylander so far. Try it you won't regret

Why do so many folks hate on Flameslinger? I've tried him on both paths, and I don't see what all the hate is based upon...
As for my recommendations: Stealth Elf (Pook Blade Saint), Double Trouble (Channeler), Roller Brawl (top path - forgot the name of it), Whirlwind (Tempest Dragon), Night Shift (top on 'punch' path). Any of these when skill maxed will do well. |

Series 2 Flameslinger with his Wow Pow ability that makes him dash even faster is the fastest. Drobot dashing speed decreases shortly after using thrust, so I don't think so. I'm speaking of speed only here, not a combination of speed and power. Quote: NINJAsk11
His Wow Pow ability is definitely slower in Swap Force than in Giants (both on Xbox 360). Again, I'm only speaking about speed, not damage.

Indeed he is. I used him and Stealth Elf for a lot of Time Trials back in SSA. In fact, I used to refer to him as "Devastator." As for Giants, I haven't even bothered with speed runs, so I can't give a recommedation.

One thing that actually helped *improve* Ghost Roaster for this was they let you be able to interrupt his charge attack now. Before you were stuck with it no matter what. Here you can jump or use his chain flail to end it early. In addition it'll launch smaller enemies, letting you set up to chain flail them to clear out what you need to.
Now only if his audio wasn't more annoying this time... Anyway if you're going for cheevos or trophies and still having hassle, don't forget you can set the difficulty in the options to medium. This won't hurt a nightmare run and the game will still count them. |

I play with my sibling and when we want to just run through a level we use Drobot and Trigger Happy upgraded with the laser eye path and pistol path. I know it seems pointless to use 2 techs but they make quick work of everything. If you're playing solo either of those 2 will do the same speed pretty much.

For the new guys; Blast Zone and Roller Brawl are both pretty fast. Blast Zone has great crowd controlling area of effect attacks, while Roller Brawl has devastating melee and speed attacks.

Roller Brawl is absolutely broken where it pertains to speed runs. Incredibly fast, perhaps the fastest in the game, and a very potent damage dealing brawler with excellent charge attacks to boot. Roller Brawl is easily the standout of all of the new core characters, from what I've seen so far.

SSA/SG: I have to say Swarm, only when flying though, and if you go on oh is flying path, you can easily take only two seconds of walking before flying again. But, if you don't like him I suggest maybe Drobot or Drill Sergeant.

I would like to suggest the following Skylanders for Speed Run:
Drobot Magna Charge Flashwing Bash Terrafin Whirlwind Sonic Boom Warnado Flameslinger Smolderdash Gill Grunt Zap Slam Bam Stealth Elf Cynder Ghost Roaster Fright Rider Roller Brawl If I were you, I'd focus in using whatever abilities they use to make them travel faster. For instance, I choose Roller Brawl because she is the fastest and selecting her upgrade to increase her speed and armor is the best one I ever picked. Skylanders who can fly for a limitless time is a good idea. Drobot can fly faster after buying his Soul Gem, Afterburners. Stealth Elf is the only known Life Skylander who has the ability to move faster. |

I used Ghost Roaster to do all my speed runs for each Giants level in order to get that middle star. Skull charging your way through the levels really paid off and usually left me with a minute to spare or more on each level. Of course, he isn't as good in a large wave of enemies that all take multiple hits. For that I'd quickly switch to Boomer with his bombs that would explode into 3 dynamite sticks. Boomer tore up every single arena challenge for me in both Giants and now in Swap Force. If you're looking for no switches though, I'd only use Ghost Roaster for levels you mainly speed through.

For time challenges I usually stick to Drobot. It's not so much speed (definitely not the fastest) but more the flying ability is more of a persistent run that you can steer. The primary attack, although weak, can be divided between enemies if aimed precisely.
All three of my Drobots are beam path with all 50 heroics done, of course.

Magna Charge has a speed of 190.
Scorp's and Fright Rider's dash attack launches them forward and will do good damage to anything in his way. Pop thorn fully upgraded is very quick. |

I was trying to do a speed run video for Giants that just never materialized, but I do plan on doing one for SWAP Force. It feels like they nerfed ALOT in this game, even Wrecking Ball who needed a buff more than anything attacks slower.
For a speed run, IMO there are a few important things -Movement speed -Damage -Durability In Spyro...it was Ghost Roaster. No one came CLOSE to him on there, he was literally broken. I took a lvl 1 ghost roaster and was able to start on the last level with no upgrades and beat the game without changing characters. He was super durable as he almost never got hit in skull mode, it moved him forward, and it did great damage. In Giants...he got nerfed. Then the two best characters were Drobot and Stealth Elf. Flameslinger was great for pure speed, but any type of boss encounter or 'beat these guys before you can go forward' slowed him down greatly. There were other characters you could look at...surprisingly Thumpback was good for speed runs when leveled up. Terrafin was actually a step above Flameslinger for speed runs, but being melee increased the chances of taking damage, but with skill he's "almost" a 1c in Giants. In Swap Force, I'm still working through it myself. Just havne't had enough time to beat it. I've toyed around with most of the figures ot see who got nerfed, but it's looking like the top two are still 'at the top', though there are some SWAP combinations and new characters who might dethrown them (the things you can do with 'Shift' and 'Zone'). - Unreall |

For Swap Force I quite like using Free Ranger for speed (with the tornado abilities) and he's also quite strong. Combine Rattle Ranger for power and speed. For the previous games, I used almost all the dragons for power and speed. Bash is good for speed and power, But you'll have to decide which of these you'll want to work on most. I have Bash and Legendary Bash so I have both paths. The tail swipe path is really, really powerful but the roll path is pretty fast so it's good as well. Zap is good for speed, but I find he's not that powerful. Camo, when upgraded to the melon fountain path is extremely powerful, but he's not very fast. Sonic Boom, is both strong and fast so I used her along with Spyro for speed runs.
Overall I'd say most of the dragons are good for speed runs for speed and for strength. |
