Was just wondering if this game is TRUE 1080p HD? On the back on my PS3 version it has a sticker slapped on that says 720p. Does anyone know?

I think it's 720p, but I'm not entirely sure.

I do too. I was just curious as to whether the Wii U version is True 1080p? If not then I guess only the PS4 and Xbox one versions may be.

New consoles will be, PS3/Xbox are 720dpi. PS3 has never been able to do 1080.

I have the Wii U version, shows up as 1080P. The characters look great in HD.

You mean for the previous Skylanders games, not for every game, right?

PS3 games never go higher than 720p...

Ehhh, nope. This is incorrect. There are PS3 games in 1080p. But, just a few.

Pretty sure MANY PS3 games are 1080. Maybe not 1080P but certainly 1080.
That is until my piece of **** PS3 broke. Lesson learnt, don't buy Sony. |

We got the Wii U version of Giants when it was on sale months ago at Toys R Us for $25 and the graphics were significantly better than the XBOX 360 version we had already played. The main problem was having to use the Wii Remote for Co-Op/Battles, The controllers for the XBOX are far superior for 2 players.
The Wii U version of Giants also has crashed a few times while the XBOX version of Giants never did. Even though we love the graphics on the Wii U we decided to get the XBOX version of Swap Force and have been very happy with it, it runs really smooth no issues. Anyone have crashing problems on the Wii U version of Swap Force? |

You're right...not that don't buy Sony bit. I was cross-referencing a specific game in my brain which doesn't support 1080. Lessons Learned: hardware is capable---it is up to developer to support it.

I use the Pro Controller. Really good. I swap between the gamepad and pro controller without thought. I used the wii-mote for SSA and that's painful. Quote: ironjack
Not yet and we played for around ~6 hours yesterday. |

Okay, so here's the deal - any game supporting 1080 on Xbox 360 or PS3 is very, very rare. In most cases, even if your TV says 1080i or 1080p, it's up-scaling the imagine, not actually rendering in native 1080.
Having said that, there are a few games that do support 1080 on both platforms. As a general rule those games only support 1080 because they aren't using a lot of processing power in other areas - for example a tennis game might be in 1080, because there are no special effects and the hardware only has to render a fairly tiny court (whereas something like Skyrim or GTA V is trying to render a whole damn world). The PS3 has more games rendered in 1080 than the X360, but that's normally only when the game is designed solely for the PS3's cell processor and it's a massive pain to do (so much so that even most of Sony's own games don't do it. But this is actually a bit of a silly discussion anyhow, because while it can suck up mountians of processing power, often resolution isn't really that important. When people talk about graphics (particularly lay-people) they tend to get caught up on resolution, perhaps because resolutions are easy to compare with nice obvious numbers. Resolution, along with frames-per-second, are important to how a game looks – but you could have a massive resolution and if the game looks like poo all you have is a high resolution poo. And if resolution was really important we’d all be gaming on PCs, which use resolutions that leave 1080p in the dust. When it comes to making a great looking game, there are a lot of things that make it look great… filters (like anti-aliasing), texture mapping (like bump-mapping), lighting and so forth. And then there is all the animation and physics engine tasks that breathe life into the world. But we don’t talk about that as much, because you can’t slap an easy-to-compare number on that kind of thing. |
