I would presume that apart from the variants no one will know which ones will be the hardest to find until well.........one is hard to find!

1st Walmart - Enchanted Hoot Loop, anything marked and known to be fully Exclusive. No TRU nearby that will be doing midnight. If a TRU nearby had a midnight, I'd be there instead.

2nd TRU as soon as they open in the morning. 1 Starter kit and the Tower of Time and Firey forge on pre-order. Want to pickup legendary figures and the crystal characters for Disney Infinity as well. May have to make a noon trip to gain a series 3 TRU Exclusive power disk, since they planned to have an infinity event on the same day as Swap Force release.

3rd Target for Nitro Magna Charge. They are on the way to the next stop anyway. That is going to very quick operation. I don't want to play with Target and impossible to find exclusives.

4th Game Stop to pickup my pre-orders and anything we have money left for. They are last as the only exclusives they have are on pre-order already.

Basic plan of action is that once we case the store, I'll queue the checkout/pickup lines while the kids grab the goods we don't have on pre-order. This should allow us to get to next stop quicker. Though with expected b1g1 at 40% off TRU may win most of our time and money. We have lists and a budget to follow. LOL Really trying to teach them we don't *need* everything. Want yes, not need.


I expect Target and Walmart exclusives to disappear at some point. As for TRU, I've actually seen them become available on the webiste, for both shipping and for in-store-pickup at times, so I'm not *as* worried, still would rather get them now.

1) We'll be getting up at 7AM and drive to Toys R Us, where we'll drop them off to get a good spot in the line. Then me, my mom, and other sister are heading to Wal-Mart (which is close by) to grab as much as we can, then head back to TRU once we've made that first purchase. Once we grab the legendaries, we'll stop at Target to get the exclusive double pack, and after we'll head to EB Games, where I preodered the Dark Starter Pack

2) At Wal-Mart, we're grabbing everything we can, including the starter pack for PS3 and Enchanted Hoot Loop. Then we'll go to TRU and get Legendary Free Ranger and Legendary LC Grim Creeper. Then the Dark Starter pack at EB Games. Also the Target exclusive Nitro Magna Charge double pack. And all the while we'll be on the lookout for variants.

3) I can see Enchanted Hoot Loop being slightly harder to find, seeing as he is an exclusive. Volcanic Eruptor too, since he's only in the 3DS starter pack.

Ok....additional question. ..what is your budget for the swap force day one release?

1: Target then GameStop. I'm going on my way to work, it's a matter of which is closer to home following the path to work. Target is near my house, GameStop is around the corner from work.

2: Nitro/RattleShake Double (Target), Dark Starter, LC Hex, and Roller Brawl (GameStop)

3: Nitro Magna Charge, Enchanted Hoot Loop, and probably the Dark starter, but just a guess.

1) To a german store called Media Markt. They are very focused on Skylanders and always release everything before TRU, Gamestop.... And because TRU dissapointed me last year. Soo I went to Tru last year at Giant launch day. And I was there aaaand they only displayed the games and the Giants. No remodels no Cores. I asked the employee and she said that she doesnt know anything about regular sized Skylanders in Giants.Then I got the Giants and went to Media Markt ehere they
had the whole wave one. This year I am going straight to that store cause its a waste of time.

2) All new Cores but Lc SD and GC,all Swappers and Blizzard Chill and the xbox game.Also ordered the the Double packs on Amazon.

3) I dont know but i guess that Roller Brawl will be rare afer a couple days. She is very popular and almost everyone who gets the game will get her. The store exclusive Variants too.

Enchanted Hoot Loop was free shipping from Walmart.com anyway.

Stop 1: TRU for midnight release. Picking up anything/everything I can there, including my two starter preorders (PS3 & 3DS). Would have only bought the exclusives and picked up my 2 free figures for preordering except for the B1G1 40% off deal, 20% off any starter deal and Walmart pretty much losing my business except for store exclusives this week, the B1G1 40% off deal, 20% off.

Stop 2: Walmart on the way home, but only to see if I can snag an Enchanted Hoot Loop off the shelf. I preordered one online to make sure I got one and will return that one if I can score one launch night. I planned on buying the bulk of my figures at Walmart, but after they refused to allow me to return a sealed Giants starter that my uncle had mailed me from 500 miles away for my birthday "due to copyright law." He asked what I'd wanted and I told him the new Skylanders game when it comes out, he didn't realize Giants wasn't the new game and picked it up. Walmart won't even talk to me without the receipt and my uncle lost it/threw it out, so I'm stuck with an extra Giants starter. For the Wii. Hooray.

Stop 3: Target, on Sunday morning, but only for the exclusive.

Stop 4: GameStop, on Sunday morning, to pick up my Dark starter and Tower of Time & Vulcan Forge packs.

With any luck, I'll be in and out of most everywhere and not have to worry about trying to hunt anything down again until wave 2 launches. Which I PRAY isn't day 2, like with Giants.

I'm so glad I'm not alone! My wife looked at my like I was nuts for doing this to give to a friend who's going to help us secure everything from wave 1 at midnight at TRU (as well as snag any day 1 chase variants that there might be, since that's going to be the best time to see them). I kept getting the eye when I'd sit down and ask if she wanted to help me form our battle plan for the night. Now that she knows about the B1G1 40% off, 20% off 1 starter coupon, 2 free figures, etc., she's all smiles, but for a while there... :-D

Toys R Us at midnight for 3ds starter and the bulk of wave 1 releases, then Walmart when I am done there to pick up EHL. 45 minute drive back home. Then another trip back up to Target at 8a.m. for Nitro. Off to GameStop for the 9am opening to pick up my Dark Edition, get my poster and enroll in the Adventure Club. I am new to the launch day craziness so it should be fun.

Getting off work at 11pm, either getting wife and son or they are meeting me.
Heading to 2-4 Toysrus to look for legendaries and special chase variants. then heading home till 6:30am. At that time I am going to the walmart 3min from my hosue, then 2 other walmarts to get enchanted hoop and look for anything chase-ish. At 8:45 im heading to target and at target i'm buying up 4-5 of everything between the 3 targets I plan to go to. These figures will cover the x2 for me, x1 wife, x1 son, x1 brother.

Then at 9:15 i'm going to watch my 7yr old play football. Followed by maybe more hunting or more sleep as I have work at 3pm-7am that night.
On Monday i'll prob do some more hunting for random items for fun as I have off till 11pm for Columbus Day. On tuesday I'm off to PA where I plan to hunt some more, maybe go to Hershey Park and def get some Pumpkins.

If you want to make sure your math is right, make sure you only have them ring up like items together, otherwise you'll get the highest items at full price and the lowest at 40% off. Since it's mix and match, they'll hit you with the full charge for the swappers and lightcores and then give you 40% off on the core and S2/S3 figures. I'll likely wait a bit to let the crowd (if there is one) clear out before I do that, just so I don't make everybody mad while they wait on me.

FYI, I researched the promotion and found out that it's not an on-the-spot reward. It's for Rewards members, the $100 is cumulative through multiple purchases and you have until 12/31/2013 to accrue the full amount, at which point you'll be issued a coupon to send in for the Gill Grunt.

You're correct that it's not an on-the-spot bonus. You're also correct that the $100 minimum threshold is cumulative, between 10-13-13 and 12-31-13, and you must be a Toys R Us "Rewards" member to be eligible. However, I don't believe it's a "mail-order" reward for the Gill Grunt promotion. Rather, if you meet the $100 threshold in the given time-frame, you will receive an email coupon for the Gill Grunt promotion in early January 2014, and the coupon will be valid in-store during a one-week window in late January.

I could be wrong, I suppose, but that's what I gleaned from researching this Gill Grunt TRU promo. Probably most important messages here are: be sure you are signed up as a Toys R Us "Rewards" member BEFORE 10-13-13, and set your expectations appropriately .... no one will be walking out of TRU on Sunday with the special Gill Grunt promotion in-hand ... you'll be waiting a few months until January 2014.


Also, in case anyone is wondering about the "buy 6, get one free" offer at GameStop, you have to have a "Pro level" membership on-file with GameStop. This requires a $15 annual fee. So, if you hypothetically purchase 6 Skylanders at $16 each (that's GameStop's retail price) and receive one for free, your total for 7 figures is $96. Does the Target Nitro Magna Charge do anything special, besides being a reskin, like the Enchanted Hoot Loop changing colors?

1) Going to midnight launch at TRU. It should be fun and make the rest of my day easier. I will go to Gamestop, Target, and Wal-Mart to get the exclusives.
2) I will be getting everything except reposes and lightcores. The exception to that is ones that come in triple pack, battle pack, or legendaries.
3) I would think the hardest to find will be the exclusives, but that would be weeks after release. I feel all the exclusives should be easy to find at launch. If not in store, then on the website. The key is to get/order them on launch day.

First I'm gonna go tot toysrus and pick up my preordered game, and buy everything (with Legendaries) sans zoo lou, reposes, and LC flashwing and Warnado.

Then I'll go to target and pick up my 3ds game and get the zoo lou triple

TRU are to open at 8:00am Sun is what I read and tha'ts the stores that don't open at midnight.

Before the midnight launch was officially announced, I'd asked the manager of my local TRU if they were doing a midnight launch and he said he didn't think so, but at the times when they did a weekend launch of something, they normally opened at 8:00 AM. However, standard Sunday opening hours for a TRU would be 10:00 AM. I just looked at the store locator tool on their website, and there are suddenly a bunch of stores showing an 8:00 AM opening time (even mine, even though they're doing the midnight launch and showing a 10:00 PM closing time for Saturday), so I would check the website and go with whatever it says there. If you're determined to be first in line to have first crack at variants, etc., plan to get there early as if it were definitely opening at 8:00 PM but bring something to do, plan to sleep, etc., in case you're wrong. Back in the late-wave SSA days (as well as a couple of times while trying to get my hands on a Masterpiece Soudwave at retail), I showed up as early as 5:00-6:00 AM to guarantee my spot. Fortunately, I always bring my iPad and a multitude of things to do. Good luck!

Just got off the phone with GameStop, literally on hold for 20 minutes!, and I was able to cancel the order. The guy on the phone said my shipment hadn't gone out and since I had 'value shipping' it would have been 5-7 days!

Tried calling my local gamestop but they told me I had to come in to the store for a pre-order, so I know what I'm doing after work.

Now my plans just got blown out of the water. Looks like my boys will be in JAX Saturday. There is no way they'll be back early enough to get up by 6.

So I have now pre-ordered the legendary figures to hedge my bests. When I get up in the morning I will make a bee-line to Target to pickup Nitro Magna Charge. I may go to TRU just to get in on the B1g140% off. That is if my boys have made their lists.

It really is much easier if they were there. especially with getting the goods or stacking b1g1 deals. I've set it up in the past that I have one set, and they have others, but all the items are of the same price, that way we do not get screwed on the discount.


Also, this is all for their love of this game. I just enjoy facilitating access. I hope they enjoy it as much as they did giants.

Awaiting Tower of Time preorder from Amazon. I hope this comes Saturday...

Sounds like a lot of us have very similar plans. Nobody is going to Best Buy this year....I wonder why? Joking of course. This is my first launch day and I have referenced it before as Black Friday for Skylanders Fans. What is really nice about this set up though is that each store openings are staggered so you don't really have to be in two places at one time. Aside from TRU and Walmart of course but that can be remedied by doing the EHL pre-order on line like many of us are doing just in case we don't make it over there in time after TRU to pick one up. I actually did plan on fitting Best Buy in somewhere on Sunday since I have $40 in rewards certificates to use that I might as well burn on Skylanders stuff.

It sounds like TRU will be our first stop at Midnight. I will get as many figures there as possible and then hit up Walmart. We do not do variants so I will not be chasing those down, we just want all the new figures the battle back and the Tower of Time Adventure pack.
I have not yet preordered it yet, because I was contemplating waiting for a sale on the game closer to the holidays. The game and first wave of figures will be my DS's big Christmas gift this year.

Anyone know if you can get both the Gill Grunt TRU promo and the 10% back for purchases? It sounds like that will be the case. If we get both the extra Gill Grunt figure and the 10% back it might be worth it for me to buy the game at TRU on launch day rather than chasing down a Black Friday deal.

Wow, that is too bad. My TRU is right next to Walmart so I will just head over there to see what is up. If nothing more it will give me additional time to sleep in between TRU and when Target opens at 8 on Sunday.

Hershey Park in the Dark is a lot of fun. I live near there and I used to take a boy that I was babysitting for a couple of years when that time of year came around. He even got me to go on the Wild Mouse... which is it's own story right there.

Anyway, on topic: I'm going with my brother in law right after church. As a religious person, even Skylanders doesn't give a proper excuse to miss Mass for me... so if all the good stuff is gone, then oh well. We plan to hit up TRU, then Target, then Wal Mart and then Gamestop in that order. I'll probably throw in Best Buy before going to Gamestop just because I have a gift card to spend and ease the burden of how much money I'm planning to spend on this.

I would like to get the legendaries from TRU, which I will probably also get S2 Pop Fizz, lightcore warnado and any other random one that interests me there (hoping to build up a total to get whatever the $100 Gill Grunt is).

Wal Mart only for EHL if there are any left. Scalpers being what they are, I won't hold my breath for anything on this list.

Best Buy (if I go) to see what I feel like getting with gift card money to ease up on my bank account.

The overnight crew would be the ones dealing with it not that manager, I don't see why they wouldn't get them for you. Call the store around 11 PM on the 12th and see if the tunes a little different.

Exactly. If you're going to be out there anyway, it wouldn't hurt to check. I figure it will take awhile to get out of TRU, so who knows how things will be in Walmart at 1230 am and on?
