What is the point of the double packs? [CLOSED]

I'm not sure I understand what the point is in the swapable double packs for swap force. In the past, the 3 packs would save you some money vs buying the figures individually. This time, it really doesn't seem to save you anything.

I know with Target you get the nitro exclusive, but beyond that does anyone see what the selling point is here?

If the price them the same, the only point is convenience and to drive packaging collectors nuts.

Remember when bundling huge amounts of toilet paper together was done for cost savings to the consumer? Well now, they actually charge almost as much if not more than a standard four pack for "convenience". Same marketing philosophy I guess.

I've seen double packs listed at 24,99, so you save money.

The only double pack at 29,99 I've seen so far is at Target, with Nitro.

Hrmm.. perhaps you are right. Target has them at $29.99 for the nitro double packs and I've read confirmation that is in their weekly ad for that price as well as online on their website now. Maybe wave1 won't have any other double packs available and we'll have to wait for wave2 to see how the pricing is on the two double packs there (boom jet/night shift) (grilla drilla/fire kraken).

Link please of a double pack available in US for 24.99?

Not entirely speaking for Reimu but maybe they meant triple packs?

I need to find it, but it wasn't for the USA. It was on amazon.de, I'll need to look around as I got this through DS.

^Yeah, so that's my point. No US reference for a double pack being 24.99 yet. Target set a bad precedent with 29.99 for Nitro.

From what I've saw, nothing indicates any US pricing at $24.99 yet on the double packs. Target is the only released pricing and they are showing $29.99. Perhaps we will be surprised and see a double pack at TRU at launch as some type of exclusive, but even if they did, their pricing is always higher as well. I would say the main US vendors are tru, walmart, target, gamestop, and amazon.com. None of those have pricing on any non-exclusive swap double packs yet. Historically Target's exclusive figure pricing for skylanders has always been inline with normal pricing whether it was individual or 3pack. If that trend continues then I'd expect double packs at $29.99.

I can forgive Target for double packing Nitro.... honestly I hope this is not the trend. I have seen the pics from amazon.de This is a good marketing idea for people that don't get the whole Swap Force concept... personally I think it is a screw the customer idea. Really I'm going to have to buy a two pack just for one regular, normal, non-rare, character? No thanks. The three packs only work when you don't own any characters.

I may have two boys, but between the three of us, agreeing on a two-pack is a pain.

I don't mind them. I'm not getting the 3DS starter, and would be getting Free Ranger, Rattle Shake, and Magna Charge singles anyway. Though since there's the Nitro variant, I'd rather get that over the regular.

Then comes which double to get. Since I'd like to get Free Ranger's Legendary version, I'll pass on the regular and get the Nitro/RattleShake pack. It's $30 I'd be spending anyway, and besides I'm getting an in-game variant as a bonus. :/

I always thought they were $27.99. Technically though don't you save a few cents on tax at least?

They were, initially. Target.com's current price is $29.99. They were not pre-orderable, so you couldn't lock in that price anyways. It is possible that stores will have them for that, but it is a longshot. It is an exclusive, so they may be wanting a premium for it. I guess if you consider TRU's prices, then it is a discount even at $29.99, but everywhere else has them at $14.99, in which case the double is a penny more expensive than singles.

I think $24.99 is more in line, Triples are $25 for $30 of figures, so one would hope Doubles would be similar.

Here's another thought: if you buy a double pack you get four new characters in package, technically speaking. Maybe the double pack is just a way to bring focus to the swapability of the characters.

I think that's their idea. That assumes all double packs are Swappers. if there was 1 Swapper and 1 regular, then it wouldn't make sense.

I'm pretty sure that is the idea for them.

Also, Gamestop has the swapforce skylanders (like magna charge) at 15.99 so techinally that's about 17 plus tax... thus it is cheaper to by a double pack than them.
