Heads up @ Target [CLOSED]

All - just wanted to let you know I left my local Target and they had 1 Slobbertooth 3 pack and 1 Zoo Lou 3 pack sitting on the shelf. I walked them over to the counter and asked if they could be sold and the employee said they had a street date of 10/6 so she could indeed sell them to me. Since I already have the dark starter pack ordered, I didn't buy them because of the duplicates. I bought the Darklight Cript pack instead. smilie

Moral of the story - start checking Target as it looks like the stock is going out as it comes in.

That's all shocking...the street date and the fact that you saw and needed and bought Darklight Crypt.

I wonder if they are moving up their street date to counter TRU's sale?

Regarding the three pack, if I were so inclined to take pictures to prove to you what I am saying is true, that would have been great. However, I'm not so believe what you want. An even better thought would be to call your local Target - they can tell you the same thing. Street date 10/6 but no location yet so everything should be stored in the back.

Regarding the Crypt, my kids came in late on the first Skylanders and I refuse to pay the appendage price on EBAY. We have been watching for it for about a year and I finally found one.

A little north of Atlanta, GA.

While there, I also asked about the Nitro Magna Charge and the employee said it looked like an "online only" offer. Doesn't make sense to me since the website lists a DCPI (or whatever it is) and an online item number. Guess we will see come Sunday (if I can beat the scalpers there...)

Just had a look at the BOC.... they are including Scarlet Ninjini with the starter packs. Though the cards/stickers/dogtags/etc is nothing I want. Glad I already secured SN. smilie

Checked the TRU online advertising for home and work sites, and only saw info about the release, and a midnight or early opening, nothing else.

Though I have noticed price changes either occur on Saturday or for most items on Wednesday at 1-2am.

That's not how it works. The company (Activision) selling the product sets the street date not the store. If stores could just sell things whenever they wanted to we would all have Swap Force by now as they would all want to be the first ones to have it available. That's why street dates exist, so every store can have their stock available to sell on the same day and so customers can go to a store and know that the product they want is available.

While true about who sets the street date, little to nothing is done to retailers who break street dates. It has to be a HUGE, GROSS violation to get their hands slapped. By getting their hands slapped, that usually means products will arrive on the street date for a very limited future time. Usually, at best, the parent company contacts the vendor with a "cease and desist" essentially asking them to pull the product. With the amount of tape involved, most times that comes after the authorized street date.

Please know, I had no intention of buying them which is why I took them to the counter and asked the employee to check the street date. I did the same thing last year when Legendary Stealth Elf hit the shelves a few days early. I lived in their shoes once and try to help when I can.

The employee did confirm the game had a hard street date but said the figures were available to sell on 10/6. In all likelihood, Activision probably didn't street the figures since there is no need to buy them without the game (unless you are just trying to beat the lines.)

Matteo - I will swing back by after work and see and I imagine they will still be there. They are lumped into the other Giants Adventure packs. I am going to take the pic from my phone so can you either:
a) PM me walking me through how to upload a pic to this site
or b) PM me with your number so I can message it directly to you.

Now thinking about this... do the Nitro Magna Charge packs have a street date of the 6th or the 13th.... hummm In some ways I'd rather it was the 13th as we are planning a stop on our Tour of Destruction! LOL

Walmart, TRU, Target, and Gamestop. All in that order down one road.

I had them check their system using the DCPI:207-00-9059 and they said the item was not sold in their store or any surrounding stores so they couldn't check the date. He used a scanner so I dont know if they can access other information in the computer but he said neither his store, nor any other in the metro area, have received the item to this point.

The figures are street dated, there was either an error in their system or the employee was clueless. Don't you think if any store was selling Swap Force we would know about it, today is the 7th, there would have been a flood of posts about figures being sold early. I guess you missed the news about the store that sold a copy of Pokemon X & Y early, ask them if selling something before the street date is a big deal.

The Target ad for next week has Nitro Magna Charge in the ad. It will be sold in stores. The confusion probably arose because on Target.com, both double packs are listed as "not sold in stores". I am guessing that was a mistake. If I knew how to add images, I would attach a picture of the ad. You can actually find the picture of the ad on Blu-ray.com in the hot deals forums.

As promised, I went back by the store and the packs were behind the counter. I spoke to the same employee and she said she hadn't put them back out because there was no spot on the planogram. She asked me if I wanted to buy them and I, again, told her no. Just wanted a picture and a barcode.

Matteo, I am going to attempt to dump the two images in this post. I will follow up with a reply to your PM as well in case I screw it up. I also only took a pic of the barcode with Zoo Lou, Chill & Spyro.

To everyone else, while the employee may have been clueless on the street date and whther or not they can be sold, that's not in my ability to judge. All I can tell you is what she said to me.

While I am not as informed on this "big deal" as you are, I did read up on it and found a few things:
1) Allegedly, a Nintendo employee was able to go directly to their boss and have action taken - thats not usually the case.
2) Nintendo made the "leaker" take down their leaks - i.e. cease and desist.
3) The "leaker" said his buddy gave him the game early acknowledging the street date. That employee is an idiot. Mind you, not as big of an idiot as the guy who received it early and posted the leaks but pretty darn close.
4) You are talking about the worldwide realse of a much anticipated GAME. Excuse me if I am off on my comparisons but the Skylander figures with Activision would be equivalent to packs of Pokemon cards with Nintendo. If you think Activision is going to chase down individual figues and threaten stroes with a $2000/item fine which can only be levied if it was first included in the street date agreement or by going to court and proving damages ("Your Honor, my client's business was severly damaged because this vendor sold the product early..." - good luck), well, then you have much more faith in a regularly abused system than I do.
5) Nintendo is known to have some of the most strict street date agreements on the market.
6) From what I read, it wasn't a major corporation that broke street date. Again, if you think Nintendo would treat a major retailer like Wal-Mart, TRU or Game Stop with the same fervor they do a small business owner, you have more faith in them than I do. While contractually, they may have the right to do so, they would be stupid to upset their largest buyers regardless of how dumb the employees conducted themselves.

Supposedly, the Nintendo rep even told the store owner it wouldn't have been a big deal had the guy not leaked the game information and game shots. If thats true, and I have no reason to doubt it because I have experienced similar things, I stand by my initial response that if these figures get sold early, it wont even be a blip on Activision's radar screen.
