So dark edition really wont have the normal three starters? how will i get them if i pick up dark edition? and is lightcore hex also given to people who preordered it? SO MANY UNCERTAINTIES.

For the Lightcore Hex promo, check where ever you've pre-ordered. Most places do have it, but the odd few independent retailers don't.

As for the regular three starers, you'll just have to buy the game again - which I plan to do, when it (inevitably) goes down in price next year.

They will most likely release singles of wash buckler, blast zone and ninja stealth elf. They did this with the exception of tree Rex because he was in every starter pack

I had the same concerns at first, but I realized I plan to get it for PS4 at launch as well, so I'll just wait for the regular figures until Nov 15th.

I hope they release single packs of them, I hate dark wash buckler the original looks one billion time better

I posted it in its own topic (to bring greater attention to it), but EBgames.ca now has the Wii U Dark Starter in "(Quantities Extremely Limited)" Personally, going to switch my second PS3 version as soon as they open today!

I don't know - with Giants there was a reasonable chance a consumer who owned the original game would grab the 'Portal Owner's Pack' to save a few bucks, and also because that's what the packaging said was their best option. Hence there was a market for Cynder and Jet-Vac singles for those who wanted them after the fact (and really I've never seen the non-lightcore Jet-Vac single in Canada. Not once. Is he common now in the U.S.?)

But with Swap Force, everyone needs the new portal so everyone has to pick up the starter pack. The assumption is the general masses will grab a regular console starter pack, with a small minority getting the Dark Edition. If you grabbed the 3DS starter, you still have the incentive of grabbing a regular console starter because all the figures are different and you're technically getting a different game just branded with the same name.

So the market for single packs of Wash Buckler, Blast Zone and Ninja Stealth Elf are considerably smaller this time around. It wouldn't surprise me if Activision did it, but I'm also not expecting that option. I'm getting the Dark Edition and will mostly likely get the regular versions off e-Bay at some point.

They will have the dark skylanders single pack sooner or later

Lightcore Hex is confirmed as a pre-order bonus for the Dark Starter. No, the regular versions of the three in the normal Starter will likely not be available normally, for Giants only the ones not in the Portal Owners pack got released separately. The original game never saw Spyro, Gil Grunt or Trigger Happy released in to the general public (although a chrome version of Spyro did appear at E3, and the Dark one in other countries).

If you want every version of every character, expect to be in for a long ride this time around, the already known variants already well outnumber the last game. They have also figured out the special holiday versions sell, so I would think some of those will pop up as well. If you really want to do it, then if you have multiple consoles, then this could be an opportunity for you to try it on a different console (maybe a next gen one, if you pick one of those up in the next year) down the road to complete your collection. I think waiting for a good sale next year would be a good option for this, because unlike some figures that might become scarce, the normal Starter Pack will be in good supply for a long, long time.

Single Jet-Vac was only released in Australia.

There's a high chance that they will release singles for all the characters.

Oh, what i hoped was you get the original game packaging, inside a larger box, then they put in the dark characters. (similar to the ps3 bundle with gnarly).

I dont plan on buying the same game twice. i hope they make singles though.

Is the Wii u version sold out for good? I ordered the xbox360 version last night and saw that and wondered if these were limited editions, I didn't think they were. But now that one is no longer available I am wondering what's up. Are they coming back in stock?

Well, the only person in the original starter pack that doesn't have a dark counterpart is Magna Charge, and there is a nitro version of him.

As far as I'd guess, once the Dark Starters are gone...they are gone for good. All EBgames and GS locations I've spoken to are NOT getting extras to sit on the shelf (like normal starter packs). It's pre-order only, and apparently according to the managers who went to some gaming conference originally there were no plans to make a WiiU Dark starter at all.

My plan is to buy the original Wash Buckler, Blast Zone, and Stealth Elf on the net I figured if I bought the Dark Edition I would pay less for the originals and wouldn't have to pay ridiculous prices for the Dark ones.

I really like the idea of actually limiting supply. I hope these are all gone by Black Friday.

Thats what happened with me and molten hot dog. Missed him once, as a scalper bought took the last three on the shelf. i aksed if he had seen anymore, and he just looked me in the eye and said he would have taken any extras they had. And now i havent seen him since.

They're called chase variants for a reason...limited stock made...get 'em while you can!

I thought chase variants were the ones that are found once in a life time? like those clears that ive never seen. the store exclusives are supposed to be near unlimited in stock. my target still has granite crushers and jades.

I'd love to see pics of Granite and Jades on a shelf...they basically lasted for a month or so LAST YEAR. Jade disappeared from shelves at my stores in about a few days---with no restock.

Sorry misused a term...chase variants (I tend to call them treasure hunt variants which was coined from Vicarious) are super rare. In game variants aren't necessarily mainstream either and are not in unlimited stock---they are limited and in many cases they are store exclusives with limited inventory.

The only ones you can "count on" being there are the mainstream characters. If it's got an extra fancy word attached to it (Nitro, Enchanted, Jade, etc) they are relatively limited release and you better get them when they get released. Or live without it. Or pay up on eBay.
