As you can see in this video, Camo appears to have not only normal melons but also pumpkins in his melon circle. Also they appear in his explosive vines.

Hmm. I think the pumpkins stay behind until you shoot at them, then they explode.

Allow me to explain, pumpkins and melons have thorny vines and so he has thorn horns to represent where the pumpkins will grow.

Well, a lot of the new Wow Pows have nothing to do with the character changes, Spyro's Wow Pow is him firing a fireball that looks like his head, so no need for the giant horns, Cynder can turn into a giant ghost head like Ghost Roaster, so the lightning on her wings make no sense, Whirlwind's armor when her wow pow is a rainbow wave, Stealth Elf's ninja suit when her wow pow is turning into a tiger and Chill's new armor has nothing to do with her frozen piranhas wow pow.

I think it's true, the "Thorn horns" have not much to do with his wow pow which should be the melons. I can't imagine that they just add pumpkins to a melon attack without any new skill explaining it.
Ninja Stealth Elf gets her ninja suit together with the wow pow (tiger), so it is part of her wow pow. And Chill gets orcas not piranhas. Btw, it's pretty funny seeing the little orcas fly all over the screen.

As meticulous as the process if for naming characters in a given skylanders game, the reposed situation seems to be more fluff and substance. Naming something that isn't used or doesn't describe new features is a marketing blunder I think.
