1. It's Costly and Overpriced, starter pack costs more money than it should and gets only worse as you buy more figures. Its not mandatory to buy more, but still tempting considering of Flaw #3 which I will later go on to. There simply just isn't enough content to make the Starter Pack worth its cost, it should've been $20 instead of $60. If you want the whole entire games, they will cost more than $500. Damn, talk about money's worth.
2. There are too many characters and toys, more than there needs to be, which also contributes to Flaw #1. Not only are they the reason why Vampires are sucking the blood out of your Wallet, but they also eat up the other content in the game and make them not as interesting, such as the Lack of Online Play and few game Modes. The 8 New Core Skylanders were all really cool in their own ways and I have no hatred for any of them, but they were pointless and didn't need to exist.
Series 2, Series 3, Recolored Variants, and Lightcore figures make this even worse; putting far more characters in the game that could be handled. They should've given the Seires 1 Figures their heroic challenges and wow pows in Giants so you don't have to waste money buying them AGAIN, with Ligtcores being in-game power-ups.
3. Controls are basic, weak, and simplistic; comparable to Old Arcade games like the Simpsons or Final Fight. I find it absurd how you only have 3 buttons to use for combat and a fourth to talk to people or something, there should've been more use of buttons than that. The Combat System, while still entertaining, is very shallow and there isn't much feel or depth to it. This is only a Minor Problem though, since SWAP Force has jumping.
4. The game is far too easy to play and doesn't provide much of a challenge, even with Nightmare Mode. There are no Joke Characters (like Dan from Street Fighter) and only a few of the characters provide challenging gameplay (such as

Even the Boss Battles are underwhelming, only

5. A Lack of Online Features, there are quite a number of Glitches and there are no Patches or Updates to Fix them. There is no Online Multiplayer either. Nothing else needs to be said here.
6. Heroic Challenges are extremely horrible and a waste of a game mode, a ridiculous way of boosting stats (which isn't even necessary due to under average difficulty). They are really, really fun and creative..... until you've played the same one for the hundredth ****ing time! Its retarded how you have to keep doing the same 40+ challenges with each character over and over.
7. The biggest Flaw Though, is:
The short length of gameplay. Story Mode has only 24 levels in the first game and 16 in the 2nd. The only around this is to buy 4 adventure pack levels for $80 total, none of which are that amazing. Additionally, the levels themselves do not last very long and are very short and linear, taking like 15 minutes or less to beat them. The game suffers from poor replay value: after beating Story Mode there isn't much to do other than buying new Figures and replaying the same Levels over and over, and Nightmare Mode (which absolutely sucks) due to a lack of additional game modes (other than retarded ass Side Missions and PvP), and even those have little to no Impact on the game. The only thing else here that keeps me busy is Battle Mode PvP, and even that's not super special, only slightly spectacular. There are no CPUs for it and many of the Arenas are too big, giving an advantage to fast and long ranged characters, but hinder characters that are slow and/or have short ranged moves. There simply just isn't enough lasting appeal to make it worth the $60, there needs to be drastically more levels with more game modes.
Skylanders was great when it first came out, but now they are just money, money, and more money; focusing more on the toy collecting and the 48 characters rather than the rest of the gameplay. They spend less than a year to make the games and make several flaws. As a franchise, Skylanders has massive potential to be one of the greatest games of all time and much better than it is now, but fails to reach that potential due to Toys for Bob's laziness and absent minds (no offense). Recently, I switched over to Disney Infinity and found it a vastly better game with strong superiorities: including better Game Length, Sandbox Mode, Online Play, and many other features. I may get SWAP Force if my Wallet recovers from Infinity, but I won't be getting it immediately.
Not saying Skylanders is bad, its just not what it could've been.
