Well I just got Pokémon Rumble U to day and it has a mode that lets you scan in any NFC chip to summon a "helper Pokemon" and skylanders (witch have NFC chips inside them) work with this mode. I scanned in my fav skylander Gnarly Treerex and he came up as Rayquaza. (the game seems to only read the data and not alter it so it has no negative affect on the skylander. One other thing I might mention was that scanning the Skylander on the Wii U game pad did in fact activate its lightcore. Just thought I would post cus some might find it interesting.

That won't work. Rumble figures have NFC chips, they're pretty much "One use" per game. Skylanders have RFID Chips.

Proof of what (the pokemon rumble game has a mode to read ANY NFC chip, to summon a temporary ally, this was used in Japan to scan NFC train tickets and other such NFC cards.) The chip in a skylander is a NFC card.
(you can use a pokemon rumble U figure as many times as you want on as many Wii U systems as you want (but you have to scan it in every time you play) And it would not work on skylanders as that game does not have data for the rumble figures. Pokémon Rumble U can look at the data on any NFC chip and generate a random pokemon from it, that can be used 1 time ever level.

Rumble U ripped skylander tech off.
Interesting now we have proof against them like we had against infinity (They outright showed they copied the tech) Why am I curious on what skylanders are what now See what Pop Fizz turns out to be (Hoping eevee)

Well the Pokémon rumble U figures say they have NFC chips in them yet they can still save data back to the figure itself. (if the figure levels up it asks you to rescan it so it can save the level back to it to use at a frends home.

In reality Skylander was not the first game to use this tech (the HyperScan game system used the same tech, just with cards not toys) and that came out 4 or 5 years before the first skylanders game. (plus the tech pokemon rumble uses is the same tech that train tickets use in japan)

Too bad they don't show up but you gotta admit, that's pretty funny and cool. When I first saw the topic title, I was like "..... what?" Then thought of rayquaza in gnarly form and thought "...... cooooooool". Has anyone been able to find the pokemon rumble figures from gamestop? Mine doesn't have any and don't have a flying idea when they will get them in. Go figure..... ha! I made a funny!

Pretty sure that it'd just randomly generate a Pokemon whenever you scan it in.
However, I dunno what you may have done, but I tried about 10 different Skylanders and none of them would scan in. However, the LCs I tried DO actually light up, but they blink on and off. That's probably how the link is made, it like "flashes" on and off like if you had a light switch. (Although I have no idea how the Gamepad may read nfc data besides magic)

You have to scan them in a battle (to use it as an ally) not as a NFC Pokemon toy. Edit: in a battle (when your pokemon are fighting you can scan any NFC card) you can see that you can do this cus there is a flashing (scan) thing in the lower left side of the screen.

The Gamepad uses NFC TECHNOLOGY. It does not use RFID, and does not give off the signal to power up the Giants. It does however count as an NFC Tag and gives you the Temporary Ally

Actually Gamestop is the only retailer selling the figures. They're exclusives! Speaking of exclusives... Quote: Matteomax
B/W Kyurem were SUPPOSED to be preorder only figures. If your Gamestop was selling them seperately, then they're not supposed to. There was apparently a lot of confusion over the bw kyurems...mine had them in plain red/white balls behind the counter..but the ball was all scratched up....

Well, there's actually three waves of six figures each. Plus each wave has one shiny figure. That's all there is in general distribution in Japan, so we're getting the same (except a few of the really limited ones they got distributed in other ways) Then there's the two Kyurem figures, which are either only available in special edition packs from GAME stores in the UK, or as a limited/preorder bonus for buying the code instore at Gamestop in the US. You only get one of the two from each place, so need to either hook up for the second, or buy a second code/pack. Quote: NINJAsk11
I got some quick pics on my iPhone... They're REALLY rubbish though. Right, so I grabbed the first figure I could find... Booted the game up, chose a level, then paused it to scan the figure (though, you CAN scan it whilst it is still running...) You can't see very well, but where the picture of the gamepad is on the gamepad, it says "NFC scan complete". With Jade Flashwing on the scanning part of the gamepad. Upon unpausing the game, that giant figure is what appears when you scan something with the NFC/RFID chip in, in this case, a Zoroark. So yeah, someone could EASILY post better pictures, but I guess these ones are a start... xD |

It is NOT worth spending $75 on a box of them. I bought one and got 8 duplicates. I was better off buying a few at a time. People that claim they got all 18 at once are either BSing or very lucky.

I'm not saying its impossible. Its just at first I was under the impression that you were guaranteed all of them. Then after spending all that money just to still get doubles, the odds are like 4:5 you will not get the "perfect" box
