Lots of the new backstories were revealed yesterday (or perhaps earlier, depending on your time zone), and I wondered if anyone else thought they were a little... meh, not so great?
If so, how do you think they should've been? Got any better ones? Post 'em here!
What I had hoped for from Zoo Lou:
[In case it isn't clear, this is fanfiction what I'm posting right here.]

Zoo Lou was a member of a species of snow-white Sasquatches that guarded a magical forest full of life and nature. Zoo Lou, however, was young and adventurous, and went on a quest to find an ancient, magical crystal mace. He succeeded, but when he returned, he found the entire forest dead and destroyed by Trolls. He sadly buried the many animals who had been his friends. When he finished, the spirits of the animals were grateful for being freed, and the spirits of the birds, wolves, and boars agreed to join him in seeking vengeance and defending nature. They absorbed into his mace, which gained a beautiful green glow of life. With his new-found power, Zoo Lou decimated the surrounding Trolls, and eventually crossed paths with Double Trouble, who, sensing his amazing power, told Master Eon, who quickly recruited the Sasquatch.

Of course, the above would probably be too dark for use by Activision, but I'd rather have something along the lines, instead of his current cheesy backstory.

Maybe I've been playing too much Kingdom Hearts, but I'd really like to see Skylanders become a fantasy epic!
Of course, with like 200 playable characters, we'll probably never get individual character stories and so forth, but still!
Actually, Voodood among others, had a somewhat dark backstory, his whole village was consumed.

I agree, I'd like to see Skylanders get darker a bit, (And it slightly is) similar to what Adventure Time is doing. I love the fact that it's actually post-apocolyptic world, The Lich is an amazing villain, and of course the connection between Ice King and Marceline.

That, my good sir, was a gazillion times better than the real version. I think free ranger's is a bit of a bare bones backstory. He was hit by a lightning bolt granting him storm powers so he decided to become a storm chicken and eon recruited him. The end. What I would have done is:

Way up in the highest regions of Skylands, there are a group of Islands called the Avian Archipellago. The Avian Archipellago is a peaceful place for birds to be free, but one day, a ruthless gang of Greebles called "The Storm Squad" came to the islands. The Storm Squad had stolen various electric weapons, and used them to terroise small villages, much like the Archipellago. The Storm Squad started Zapping everything they could find, until the most cowardly chicken on the islands stepped up and said "Stop it!" The Storm Squad laughed, and all shocked the chicken at once. Thousands of electric watts were going into the chicken, until there was a blinding flash if white light,. The Storm Squad thought that he was a goner, until they saw that the chicken had not only survived, but had stormy superpowers and was very brave! The chicken said, "The name's Free Ranger, and you have 5 seconds to get off this land." The Greebles ran away as fast as their little stubby legs could take them, but Free Ranger zapped them off. The mayor of the Archipellago gave Free Ranger 2 blades to fight with as a reward for saving the village. Free Ranger flew off, but later saved plenty of villages from evil thugs. He was joyfully spinning around in a tornado when he met Warnado, and the two became friends instantly. Warnado eventually showed Eon his new ally, then Eon recruited Free Ranger after a group of Chompies stole Eon's helmet and Free Ranger retreived it.

I think I'll do Stink Bomb next. I do like Countdown's official backstory though.
Stink Bomb
Not content to stay within his reclusive Green Skunk tribe, Stink Bomb journeyed out to explore the cosmos. He soon found, however, that many avoided or mistreated him, due to his being one a member of one of the most foul-smelling species in SKylands. He started practicing sneaking by them, then, once he got good at it, he would start going right behind them, and (if they had avoided or been rude to him) stinking up the whole place. One day, he managed pulled off his little trick on a master ninja, who was so impressed that he recruited the skunk and trained him in martial arts and stealth. Stink Bomb returned to his village, now a big hero, when it was attacked by Kaos's forces. He defended the village using his shuriken, his stealth, and his stench, and it just so happened that another ninja, Stealth Elf, was nearby. Amazed at his talent, she instantly brought him to Master Eon, who of course made him a Skylander.

How about we come up with EPICLY dark backstories for the remaining

You can if you want. Zoo Lou just felt like that, but most of the other characters don't feel like they need it.

Fryno has anger issues, and on one of his rampages he killed his family. Later on he lost sanity and is searching for them.
Rattle Shake uses his venom to poison animals, but the poison is painful and makes the victim suffer for hours.
Blast Zone was a furnace that was possessed by a demon, bringing him to life and starting murderous hunts daily.
Freeze Blade is a prehistoric cat that survived an ice age but is the last of his kind, he also has an arctic parasite on his head that makes his brain not function sometimes.
Stink Bomb was laughed at for being smelly so he became a ninja and all who laugh get shurikenned in the head. But the worst part is that he tells you he is coming, but you never know when cause he is invisible, so he leaves you in fear for so long until your sanity breaks, then he kills you.

Grilla Drilla
Grilla Drilla was a member of a large group of miner monkeys and gorrilas, who lived and ruled in a massive subterranean world. They mined using ancient, rebuilt Arkeyan drilling machines, and they had become quite rich. One day, however, jealous of their riches, the Trolls invaded from above. They captured the king (also known as the CEO, or Cavern Executive Officer), and using their explosives, they descended into an even lower realm of the cave, one which the miners never went in, due to the many monsters residing there. Determined to save the king, Grilla Drilla equipped some of the Arkeyan drills to his very body, and descended into the lower realm. Using his drills as weapons, he destroyed many Trolls, rescued the king, and drilled his way to safety back to the upper region of the cavern. He then used his drills to create a cave-in over the remaining Trolls, sealing them in with the many foul beasts that lurked below. Hailed as a hero, Grilla Drilla decided to keep the drills, and use them to fight evil professionally. He contacted Eon, and was recruited instantly.

Spy Rise used to be a truck mechanic who loved fixing things for all his friends and acquatances. One day, when he was fixing his pal Fryno's car, Fryno grew impatient and pushed the 5 ton truck on top of Spy Rise, severing him from his legs. After screaming in agony and almost dieing from loss of blood, a nearby worker heard him, and this worker took him to the hospital. After waking up, Spy Rise realized that he had robot legs and that he has been asleep for a hundred years, and everyone he knew and loved are dead. Crying in agony, he was found by Terrafin and recruited instantly as a Skylander.

Wash Buckler's family was taken away by a fishing boat when WB was young, he found a sunken ghost pirate ship after granting him god-like pirate abilities and cutlasses,and he goes out to sea on high tide to kill fishermen. To sum it up: Fishers took WB's family, WB found a ghost pirate ship that half possesed him to give him pirate power, and he kills fishermen when it is high tide.

I really don't mind what kinds of backstories they involve as long as I know the Skylanders well enough.

I don't like other skylanders in back stories.

Spy Rise was kidnapped at a young age, and forced to become a spy for an spy army known as G.U.A.R.D.S. during a mission, he was caught by the enemy and forced to watch as his legs were cut off. for many weeks, he crafted robotic spider legs he called the R.I.S.E 9000. He refused to eat, drink, or really do anything, until the legs were done. once he finished the legs, he brutally murdered the people that had tortured him. he then returned to his homeland, only to find everything and everyone dead. he realized he needed to become a new person, so he joined the skylanders.

Countdown was created as a weapon for war. He was assigned a robot suit, to use to fight and move only. there were others like him, hellbent on killing all. But countdown thought differently. he was a pacifist. one day, he was the only bomb left. he was used. he quickly learned how to fight, and caught on quickly. although he enjoyed fighting, he knew it was for the wrong reasons. he escaped the facility, and comitted suicide by exploding multiple times to clear his memory. he was then caught in a blizzard, which froze him.


then comes the official backstory

A long time ago, when the ocean was ruled by monkeys, a single group of fish decided to fight back. No one liked these fish because in order to fight, they needed to kill another fish to use as weapons. They were considered cannibals. But they pushed on in battle against the evil monkeys of the sea and they won. The leader of the group, Riptide, was crowned king of the ocean and the whole group he was part of were considered saviors. Riptide, along with the help of his swordfish he killed, Henry, then traveled around the ocean to give help to other ocean villages. Word came about to Eon and decided to send Gill Grunt to go find him. When he finally did find him, he offered him a job as a skylander. First he declined, but after weeks of thinking it over, he decided to join the skylanders. The next day, his intense training began...

Ninja Stealth Elf- Stealth Elf had been preparing to fight Koas along with all the other skylanders. She feared her normal clothes would leave her vulnerable to attack. So she asked Sprocket to make her some armor that would help her camouflage while fighting Koas's minions.

Dark Ninja Stealth Elf- Ninja Stealth Elf, along with the other skylanders, had set out to fight Kaos to save skylands from the darkness. However, while they were battling together, NSE was abducted by a group of trolls that brought her to the darkness itself. None of the skylanders noticed she was gone as they figured they just couldn't see her. Spyro, however, sensed the darkness nearby and absorbed some of it to become Dark Spyro. The Darkness began invading NSE's body, putting her in complete agony. Dark Spyro then swooped in and blasted the Darkness with a Daybringer Flame. NSE was still suffering on the ground because some of the Darkness was still attacking from the inside out. Dark Spyro then used his magic to give her control, but only for a second. The Darkness took struck once more, but NSE fought back the Darkness within her with pure willpower and became Dark Ninja Stealth Elf.

Fine, I'll do one comically dark story.
Roller Brawl (I'll do another one that I actually like, not a parody like this one):
Once there was a championship roller derby tournament in Skylands. The cosmos's best were all gathered in one place. A hungry vampire stuck in and drank everyone's blood, and nobody survived. Since she had drank the blood out of all of Skylands' best skaters, she developed amazing roller skating abilities, and was so full of blood she didn't need as much, so she joined the Skylanders to fight evil, and occasionally suck blood from bad guys (and annoying Mabu sidekicks).

As the only one who could protect his hibernating race, Slobber Tooth fought tooth and tail against Kaos and his minions, ultimately driving them away. Yeah, it doesn't need to be dark, just better. Like my gamescom poem stated. Fix those backstories before a skylanders fan goes...

Dark Slobbertooth: After joining the Skylanders, Slobber Tooth decided to visit his home island. Once he was there all of the plant life and animals there were dead and rotten. The only thing that seemed normal was the Volcano. Slobber Tooth was climbing the volcano whilst it erupted in a dark lava, Slobber Tooth was caught in the blast changing him into his dark form.

Here is the dark one

Millions of years ago there was many of slobbertooth's kind they where ankylosaurs they only ate meat. However a meteor wiped them out. The young one just hatched only to see his mom alive darker though. He did not have a dad. So he went to a rest with his mom for millions of years.

The only backstory that surprises me is how Kaos actually has a crush on Roller Brawl.

Here is an epic, amazing, wonderful backstory for Slobbertooth...


Once, Slobbertooth saw an interesting TV show. It starred Eon as a Mad Skylander who discovers a way to make bedbugs fourteen feet high. The Mad Skylander has a goofy assistant, played by a Portal Master who gets mad because the Mad Skylander keeps hitting him on the head with the Core of Light. So he lets the bedbugs loose. Right away they started to eat up Skylands. The Skylanders try to stop them by spraying them with water but that doesn't bother those magical bedbugs. They go right on and eat up the Cloudbreak Islands. Then the Skylanders drop an Atom-Island on them and this kills all of them except one super bedbug who grabs the wonderful Mad Science and jumps into the volcano. And then the goofy assistant takes off his disguise and says, "I was really a Sheep for the F.B.I." and he marries the Mad Skylander's beautiful Chompy who is played by Kaos and they live amazingly ever after. After seeing this TV show, Slobbertooth asked Eon to join the Skylanders and was quickly accepted after displaying his powers.
