Supply and demand.
Deal with it.

I think you may have meant "scalpers" not "scalpels".

If you're patient, there will be a new Lightcore Warnado and Lightcore Wham-Shell (reportedly) released during the SwapForce release cycle. It's also possible that Camo could be re-posed as a Series 2 (there is one unknown Life element re-posed character yet to be revealed).

As for the Darklight Crypt, either pay through the nose like everyone else, or wait and hope that it's re-released sometime in the near future.

If scalpers had been completely blocked from dealing in Skylanders, that would mean you couldn't even get them for the high prices, they'd be simply unavailable now. Is that better?

Besides, a lot of those people are probably not "scalpers", but ordinary people who purchased them as an investment to sell later. Or, especially if they're loose, they bought them for THEMSELVES, played them, and are now done with the game or they need money. They're simply pricing them where the market will allow.

I know if I decided I was done with my Darklight Crypt, I would accept MINIMUM the $20 I paid for it (and only that low because it's opened), because I know it's rare now and worth a lot of money. If I let it go on eBay, I'm sure the bids would drive it way up. Does that make me a scalper? No. It means I know the value of what I have, and selling it for less would just be cheating myself out of money. A "scalper" is someone who buys everything on the shelf, depriving real consumers of them, only to flip them around later for the highest price they can. Sure, it's a fine line - and mostly a matter of point of view - between scalper and investor, but there you go.

Sorry to say, it's just supply and demand. Don't like it? Curse the others who want it and drive the value up. Or curse Activision for allowing these things to get rare.

There's no justification for scalping. Try to polish that turd all you want, but it's still going to be a turd. Scalping benefits no one but the person doing it and adds absolutely nothing to any hobby what so ever. You can dress it up however you want, but that's the bottom line.

And it's an entirely different thing altogether to sell something from your collection that you're done with. That's not scalping, that's just trying to recoup some of your original investment, rather than throwing it away, or giving it away.

I think were getting scalping mixed up with "re-selling"
its understandable that hard to find items are going to increase in demand and then increase in price,
but scalping is buying things in the store just to re-sell it for higher price, basically creating a demand that there shouldn't be.

I agree. I do some reselling to make a profit that I save for the expensive-as-hell variants.
Heck, I just gave up my Wham-Shell prototype for $36, when I paid that much for the lot of oddball figures I got from China.

I'm very lucky to have found a Darklight Crypt pack at Target earlier this year. And then found the Camo, Warnado 3 pack at TRUS. Those were my hardest to find. Now, I am going to get the ones I want the day they come out, so I don't have to regret it later on. And thats one thing I love about this forum, its easy to find news and track figures down.

C'mon...it's your moral duty to help your fellow skyfan to get their characters at retail, even though through no fault of their own they weren't able to obtain the characters when they were released.

Yes, that was sarcasm. Doesn't make you a scalper. Welcome to capitalism.

I've said this before, I don't think selling the odd figure here and there, to help "fund your habbit" is a bad thing.

The line is firmly drawn however at going into a Toy shop, grabbing every single figure you think you can make a profit on and selling them on eBay for nothing more than greed.

When you are preventing kids from getting the toy they want because there are none in stock simply because you are greedy? That is a Scalper.

I sold a couple figures on ebay, I got like a few quid for them, made a hefty loss after postage. I don't expect people to always make a loss, if you were lucky enough to pick up whatever rare figure in some way and decide you now want the money more than the figure? Ok.

Just don't go emptying shelves and ruining kids days for greed.

Of course from the buying end of the cycle the line is clear and well defined. smilie At the SELLING end, how do you tell the difference between a scalper selling Darklight Crypt for $40 or an average fan selling Darklight Crypt for $40? Without knowing the details of the buying part of the cycle, it can be hard to tell... You can get some clues from the selling history, but not necessarily so. So, it's a fine line.
